The central location makes this a good base. The reception and main areas of the hotel are typically Canarian which is very aesthetically pleasing. The bedroom (504) was a good size with a large terrace offering side views of the sea and church. The bed was comfortable and a fridge most welcome. The bathroom was well equipped with toiletries provided and a powerful shower.

The room does not reflect the common parts of the hotel, with mis matched furniture which is a real shame. The pillar in the middle of the room was very annoying, especially at night when making our way to the bathroom. The pillow (one each) was quite frankly woeful. Breakfast although offering a good selection of items was let down by undrinkable coffee and juice. Many hotels use machines for coffee but this was the worst I’ve ever encountered, even the americano was tasteless and lacked any depth of flavour. The juice was also from a machine which was basically flavoured water. Very disappointing.

I have lived in Tenerife for 10 years and always wanted to stay in Marquesa as it’s historical and one of the very first hotels in Puerto de la Cruz. I was coming as a getaway on a Saturday night and booked a standard single room. It was perfect for me because it was tucked away in the far end, which is dark and cool during the hot summer days and nights, and almost no noise from parties till 2am come thru. It had a nice lobby, all Canarian style buildings, nice outside rooftop pool area and views of the valley, square and ocean. Special thanks to Rosy, Jesus and Ariana for making my stay even better.

The breakfast is one of those where you say: it’s best not to have a breakfast.

One of our main considerations when choosing the hotel was the location in the "old town" section of Puerto de la Cruz and we were not disappointed. We were close to many shops and restaurants and a short walk from the pools at Costa Martianez and the beach. The included breakfast was a plus. (Keep in mind when booking this hotel that it is on a pedestrian street and vehicles cannot pull up to the entrance. The closest taxi or bus drop off will be a couple of blocks away.)

Not really a "didn't like" ... we were in a room with a tub with a shower. I understand that not all rooms are like that, some may have a walk-in type shower, and we would have preferred that. Nevertheless, given the view we had over the plaza on a higher floor, we wouldn't have changed our room.

I'm loath to criticize this hotel too much as I quite enjoyed my stay What can one say about the breakfast. The content was fine, good selection , hot and cold but the delivery was chaotic. They badly need a Maitre D. There was chaos at the Coffee Machines, If it was'nt for the good humour and politness of the clientele queueing, there could be an International incident. Tables not cleared quickly enough, no urgency in replacing cutlery fresh cups.and plates So after the first mornings experience ,one entered with a plan, hold a table, while the other queued for the coffee machine etc

This quaint hotel was in a fabulous location. The rooms really clean and the staff were fabulous. The manager fixed a problem for us immediately and there was an excellent singer in the patio bar which served lovely cocktails, for a 3 star hotel tiny improvements could easily make it a 4*

The hot food at breakfast could have been better but there was always something else to choose from - plenty of choice. Parking can be a bit of a problem.

Breakfast was adequate although the hot food choice was very rarely hot. Most of the staff were very nice and attentive despite the extreme pressure they were under due to lack of staff. The room was large and airy and the bathroom and shower area were good. The hotel was very clean and tidy

Not enough staff when breakfast was underway. the poor girls were run off their feet and two mornings we had to clear and re-lay our table as the ladies were swamped. The staff on the outside terrace tables were very slow when it came to recognising that someone was waiting for drinks etc and on one occasion we sat there for over 30 minutes before being told that the area was closed. There was no sign indicating this. The floor of the room was laminate and in certain places it had bee laid poorly and we caught our feet on the rough edges. the shower was a bit loose on the wall and we were frightened of moving shower head in case it came away from the wall

The location was excellent, right in the centre of the old town. We loved the chimes of local church clocks (silent between 11pm and 7am!) We adored the architecture, the hotel's beautiful galleried lobby is stunning.I last stayed here 49 years ago! The staff were all super. It was lovely to sit at tables outside and watch the world go by.

Breakfast could have been improved. The drinks machines need to be spaced out more because the area got very congested. Hot water from the machines is not hot enough to make a decent cup of tea and I could only find one ordinary teabag. An industrial sized revolving toaster rather than a domestic pop up toaster would serve that number of people so much better.

The hotel has a very nice lobby. Excellent location. Very central. Our room was basic and with dated furniture. Had a sea view and was very clean, as were other areas of the hotel. Nice view from the roof on square. Wifi was usable for media streaming. Tried on several devices. The reception staff and the housekeepers were friendly. The staff at the restaurant were mostly friendly. My opinion that some of the waiters do not like their job.

No minibar. Small bathroom. Everything else was okay for the price we paid.

Hotel Marquesa is a beautiful old historic hotel. The hotel itself is beautifully built with lots of carved wood with reception situated in a grand internal courtyard. Buffet breakfast great selection of hot and cold foods. The rooms were a good size, cool with a shower over a bath. The view from the room was over a beautifully planted square, lots of people watching and sounds of busking guitarists. Loved this hotel, excellent swimming pool on the roof with views of the sea and surrounding mountains. Will definitely book again.
