This is a clean, welcoming old style hotel. Not glitz and glam and sterile like so many are these days. For anyone who enjoys old style class, this is the place for you. It has heart , and it is obvious that it is a family run business because of the pride and attention to detail shown, right down to the fresh flowers they put on the door steps each day welcoming you in.. This is an affordable hotel, that offers excellent quality, a wonderful location , a nice adjoining restaurant directly on a beautiful vibrant square directly opposite an impressive church. I was in room 31 and the green light in that room was quite bright. I covered it with my top which worked to hide it.

Architecturally and historically stunning, the Monopol enjoys the best location in Puerto de la Cruz on the edge of the old town by the port with a wide of choice of excellent restaurants on the doorstep. At the front its terrace opens onto a leafy square where buskers play in the evenings and where you can enjoy a drink and tapas. To the back – looking out to sea - are a number of terraces for sunbathing, a good sized swimming pool, jacuzzi and sauna. The hotel is family owned and the staff were friendly and helpful

The décor, fittings and furnishings are twenty years out of date. The standard room was very basic, thin bed linens, an awful bathroom with a bath only a child could fit in and an underpowered over-bath shower. The pool and jacuzzi could do with the thermostats turned up – we chose not to swim. Breakfast would have been improved by a selection of fresh fruit and coffee/tea more than luke warm.

The hotel is as central as you can get. The staff were very friendly. I wouldn't be put off by the bell in the square as it doesn't sound during the night and is much more pleasant to wake up to than an alarm. Would definitely stay again.

The pool is quite small so may not be the best choice for children but spot on for adults

Lots of hanging space and wardrobe storage. Beach towel availability. Foliage in the lobby. Rooftop terraces. Sun lounger availability.

Sauna closed a little early at 6pm, pool and jacuzzi closed at 8pm. Slightly smelly drain in bathroom. Blocked shower head (easily fixed with a quick clean) and small glass shower screen meant the bathroom floor flooded each time it was used. Daily fee to use security lock box.

The location of this hotel is superb & the hotel itself is an old building that has been updated... It is stunning I had a room overlooking the square & it was huge (room 115) & I could also see Mount Teide... Everything was clean & presentable! We had lunch at the hotel on the first day (not included as we were b&b & it was very good! At night we went to Indian Crown & that was amazing! (About a 10 minute walk). The food was outstanding! The breakfast at the hotel was good, enough choices but the hot water machine wasn't working properly, but not too much of an issue. We had a hire car which we parked about 100m away in the underground car park - 15e for 24 hours! Which is good considering the parking is terrible in the town. I would definitely return, the hotel & the town itself is stunning! You must do the mountain trip - the views were fantastic!

I'm very surprised that there were not any tea/coffee facilities in the hotel but on our travels most hotels now don't have them! Being a bit picky here - I like my fried eggs cooked fresh - not left in a hot serving dish & I prefer the bacon cooked more - but hey, that's just me! You won't be disappointed here!

The location is fantastic — just a breath away from the ocean, the old town, shopping streets, and plenty of restaurants. The hotel itself has a restaurant with tasty food at reasonable prices. Our room had a nice view of the pool, and from the terrace, we could even see the ocean. The bed was quite firm, but we still slept well. The room included a desk, a chair, and a small fridge, which was convenient.

There were a few small downsides. The bathroom door didn’t close properly, and the toilet seat was loose and kept sliding. A bit more attention to detail and small maintenance fixes would really improve the overall experience.

The tomato garlic sauce and very attentive staff. They try to satisfy breakfast appetite's from various cultures on that buffet. Excellent service. Great to enjoy a sauna in the winter!

A bit more fruits or salads at the buffet. Better internet/wifi in rooms needed. Sauna times in late evening hours much better for people after day hikes.

We stayed at recent renewed studio at top floor, were you find huge terrace with sunbeds and umbrellas, and a view to the see and over the nice swimming pool area. Very clean and well equipped, including Nespresso machine that we loved. The location is excellent and we loved all the musicians playing on the street and we could enjoy from our balcany, which was always sunny. The view to the mountains were stunning as well as the view to the main walking street in town. The church bells were also nice. Free car park by the harbour in 5 minutes walk, we always found an excellent parking and no problem to walk with the luggage this short distance. The breakfast offered all we needed.

It would be nice to have the sauna open by 10:00 and closed around 19:00/20:00, instead of opening hours from 12:00-18:00

Parking turned out to be great in free parking at the harbour 5 min away. Thanks for the help Oliver!! Walk to Monopol to check after parking as no where to park at hotel(legally). Beds super comfy. Staff cleaning ALL the time. Breakfast great with eggs(they even scrambled them for us!), bacon, oatmeal, yoghurt etc. Location excellent for walking. 2 ‘beaches’ to swim 5 min away but black and rocky not sandy. Daniel Rodriguez pastry shop amazing across the street. Very safe/police station across the street! Balcony lovely and overlooking pool. A really nice traditional hotel with 300 years of family ownership. Church/square next to hotel. Lots of food and drink places all over. Walkable area. Beautiful. 58 & 64 years age.

Hate to say my meal at restaurant wasn’t great even though simple nor was my Sangria any good. Tasted like from a poor premix. Husband’s food was good. Had read Playa Jardin beach was closed til summer but people said they went there. Supposed to be a nice beach.
