Perfect place for a relaxing vacation. The design of the hotel is stunning, staff very friendly and helpful, spoiled us during all our stay. We enjoyed our time so much the time spent at Villa Thamburu and we thought to expend few more days but we had work duty and was not possible. The suite Pedro, our accommodation, was extremely comfortable and perfect for a romantic time! Food was good and hotel very clean. The public beach outside is beautiful but not suitable for swimming however we enjoyed our lazy chill in the hotel beach and pool.

My only small comment, more a suggestion, is to improve the quality of the mattress. I cannot say that was uncomfortable, but was the only item not aligned with the level of the rest. I don't consider this a negative point since was anyway a good quality one, but is just a small suggestion to align the quality wit the rest of the service.

We had such a lovely stay at Villa Thamburu. The whole premise is just amazing. Very boutique but everything was 5 star. A lot of thought has gone into create such a beautiful sanctuary. The little touches - like locally made Barefoot linen robes etc really added to the 'premium' feel of the place. The staff went out of their way to accomodate us - even tracking my daughter down a boogie board so she could have fun on the beach. The breakfasts were amazing - and the quality of the food to die for. Can't wait to make it back - absolutely 5 (if not 6 stay) boutique accomodation on a stunning beach.

Unfortunately we found the mosquitos to be a little out of control once the sun went down in the on-site restaurant. The food was lovely but the mosquito made dining a little hard down there - I wish the restaurant could be inclosed at night as we would have happily eaten there overnight. Hoping this is just a seasonal thing and not a persistent problem.

Great new place on the beach, everything amazingly clean and in good taste. Staff were all incredibly nice and the service was very personalised, we were always made feel like our experience was the most important thing for the hotel.

Very hard to fault anything but if hard pressed to point anything out I would say that while most of the food served was great, it was not a stand out as everything else (I only say that because you can get equally incredible food in less upmarket places in Sri Lanka)

This hotel combines what is an oasis of peace and luxury. Everything here is perfect and beautiful. The accommodation is wonderful, intimate, quiet, fragrant, tastefully decorated. The decor of whole place is on the highest level of design and good taste. The garden and pool are amazing. Very lovely and friendly owner, nice and helpful staff . The food is delicious, at very reasonable prices. The beach is clean . It really is a gem on the map of Sri Lanka. We are glad that we could spend a few unforgettable days here.

The location on the beach was perfect. The staff from housekeeping to Manager were fabulous and couldn't do enough for us. The New Years celebrations the hotel organised were both memorable and wonderful. Special mentions to Sumilal for always making sure we had a sunbed and towel. To Sanjewa, Rohan, Janaka and the other Restaurant staff who were all so helpful and friendly. To Amal and the kitchen team, who supplied the most impressive culinary delights. To Danesh the driver for amazing day trips and guided tours and finally to Charminda and the reception staff who were always there at our beck and call - wonderful staff working at a magical hotel- Thankyou.

Absolutely perfect. Villa Thamburu is a luxury boutique hotel with 5 star service and unreal food. We spent the final 6 nights of our honeymoon here and couldn’t have been in a better place. The staff are brilliant and go above and beyond at every opportunity. The hotel itself is stunning, with beautifully designed and clean comfortable rooms. The food is divine. Everything here is done with such care and attention to detail. The atmosphere is tranquil and serene - with only 15 rooms it feels really exclusive. Would recommend for couples looking for a calm retreat.

Really amazing food at the restaurant, really tastefully done interiors and well thought out - your ear will ring with mellow jazz while you wash the city away in the beautiful pool opposite the beach while gulping down a cool curry leaf and lime cocktail (Neverland incase you are looking for recommendations) The room and overall service was really good. The beach is lovely. No complaints. Do NOT miss the restaurant - great cocktails, great srilankan curry, lovely homemade ice cream and panacota. Thank you Rohaan for the great service and recommendations at the restaurant.

Perhaps a Spa and gym would have be great additions

Warm welcome with cold towels and afternoon tea. Our twin bedded room wasn’t huge but more than adequate. Comfy bed, good pillows and quality of bedding. Wonderful bathroom with bath and rainforest shower. Lovely products and strong hairdryer. The villa is perfectly situated on a wonderful sandy beach - there are some beach bars and restaurants if needed. However the food in the hotel is amazing and of similar price so to be honest I would just eat here. In addition to the fab beach there is a small swimming pool. As mentioned above the food is of top quality. Breakfast was outstanding - either Sri Lankan or continental including freshly made juices, cut fruit and a good choice of hot dishes. Coffee was the best we had in our 10 days in Sri Lanka. Both our evening meals were also faultless. Nice touch that they offer complimentary king coconut mid morning and afternoon tea All staff are very helpful but Special mention to Janaka, Sanjevee and the Executive Chef who kindly gave me a cookery lesson. Would highly recommend this very well run boutique hotel.

Brand new property. Everything about this place is wonderful - the setting, the facilities, the staff and the food. Exceptional design and architecture where every little detail had been thought about. We enjoyed every minute of the stay in such an idyllic tranquil atmosphere. Hotel staff is very friendly and helpfull, they ensure every customer have a great experience. Especially would like to mention the great cuisine and the chef of Tharinho restaurant! Thank you for the wonderful stay that exceeds our expectations!

Beautifully designed hotel with manicured gardens right down to the beach. Fantastic food and top notch service. Great cocktails. Room was very comfortable (included turn-own service), with a private balcony overlooking the sea. Welcome fruit-platter delivered to the room on arrival was a nice touch!

Quite pricy but you get what you pay for. Missed a room-service menu for food/drinks. Non-alcoholic drink selection only in mini-bar but assume you can order anything to the room. Don't think they offer spa treatments.
