We had the pleasure of staying at Taprobane House Hotel for 26 days, and it truly felt like a second home. From the moment we arrived, we were welcomed with warmth and care. The staff is incredibly kind, attentive, and always ready to help with a smile. The hotel itself is peaceful, clean, and beautifully maintained — a perfect place to relax and unwind. The rooms are comfortable, the garden is lovely, and the atmosphere is calm and serene. Every detail was thoughtfully taken care of, and we appreciated the genuine hospitality throughout our stay. Special thanks to Rashmi and the entire team for making our time in Sri Lanka so memorable. We left with full hearts and hope to return one day. Highly recommended for anyone looking for a tranquil and authentic experience.

Taprobane House was my favorite hotel in Sri Lanka. The bed was very comfortable, the window and the room huge, the interior design very chic, the food great and the rooftop pool serene and refreshing. Staff was superb, kind and attentive and everyone was full of genuine smiles, made time for a chat about life, always ready to help and at the same time very professional in giving me my highly valued privacy. Staying there felt like a mix of luxurious boutique hotel and a home away from home. And it´s run by gorgeous women! Special thanks to Anushi, Nima, Yousouf and Stephan. From now on this will be my go-to-place in Colombo. Thanks to all of the staff for making me feel so welcome!

Umbrellas at the sunbeds by the pool would have been a dream.

The breakfast was exeptionnal and the staff was amazing. I recommend the rooftop pool (that we had all to ourselves) with the great view over the city and the sea. The bedroom spacious and elegant overlooking a beautiful church. The air conditioning was perfect and the free wifi worked very well. There was a relaxing terrace opposite the swimming pool with tables, benches and a panoramic view. Overall, we had a very good experience at Taprobane hotel and highly recommend it.

Maybe some details could have been better, but they were too unimportant to be noticed.

Spacious Rooms – The rooms are generously sized, offering plenty of space to relax and unwind comfortably. Rooftop Pool – The rooftop pool is a standout feature, perfect for a refreshing dip while enjoying a beautiful view. Delicious Food – The food served was flavorful and satisfying, with a variety of options that cater to different tastes. Exceptionally Courteous Staff – The staff were incredibly polite, attentive, and always ready to assist with a warm smile, which truly elevated the entire experience. Excellent Showers – The showers were powerful and consistent, providing a luxurious and refreshing bathing experience every time.

The hotel is located on a very narrow road, and I had to circle around a few times before finally finding a place to park. They only have two parking slots at ground level, although there is a basement parking area as well. It’s a good idea to call ahead before your arrival and request them to reserve a parking spot for you.

We loved this hotel in Colombo! After a bad experience in another hotel the night before we were feeling a bit deflated. We wandered to this hotel for breakfast. We ended up telling the General manager, Anuyisha about our horrible experience at the other hotel which we were due to spend another night in. She was so sympathetic and offered us a tour of one of their rooms. As soon as we seen it, we booked it! The rooms are huge and very well designed. Luxurious finishes and feels very serene in a busy city! The team at the hotel where beyond helpful. Treated us like VIPs! We had breakfast and dinner again after that morning, and every time, the food was of such a high standard. Fresh, vibrant. Just what we needed! Can't recommend enough. The value for money is fantastic. Lovely rooftop pool. Great wifi. Staff are so helpful and pleasant to speak to.

We really liked this accommodation, it was clean and tidy, and both the air conditioning and fridge worked perfectly. The staff were very kind and helpful. We appreciated the well-equipped room. A big plus was the rooftop pool with a beautiful view, even though it closed already at 7 PM. Overall, we were very satisfied – a very pleasant stay.

The only minor issue was that at the beginning the bathroom and toilet drains smelled, but it went away after pouring water into them. Hot water had to be heated and was rather lukewarm.

High level of service. Luxury quality of rooms and large breakfast. Cozy swimming pool on the roof where you can meet the sunset. Large room with enough space for clothes and suitcases, good view from the window.

the rooms are super big and comfortable (the shower soaps smell like heaven), huge windows and a couch to watch the city, rooftop pool and nice views, in general super stylish and fitting interior and welcoming and friendly staff, the food we had was good too

it was a bit noisy as the windows are not that isolated and the area in front of doors is open air so the busy street is rather noisy (i think that is an issue one has across all Colombo though) the driver they arranged us for airport transfer was a bit weird and not very friendly plus he was speeding

I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at Taprobane House! It is a lovely boutique hotel tucked away on a small lane but still close enough to go on foot or short taxi ride to many attractions. The staff were all wonderful. Deeptha was particularly helpful in setting up my stay beforehand and communication was excellent throughout my stay. Everyone was kind and helpful. The room was large, spotlessly clean and comfortable. Breakfast was delicious. I didn’t use the pool but enjoyed the rooftop views of the city. Barefoot Cafe is only 1/2 bock away and has live jazz music every Sunday. Many thanks to all of the staff!

Everything was great.

The rooms were spacious and cozy. The staff was exceptionally kind and helpful, always ready to assist with anything we needed. Don't miss dining at the in-house restaurant—the food is fantastic, and the chef is a delightful person to chat with. If we had more time in Colombo, we would have eaten there more often; the fish curry and coconut milk dal were absolutely exceptional. The location is unbeatable—right by the coast, with everything you might need as you arrive in a new country just a short walk away. It’s also conveniently close to all the popular tourist spots, making it the perfect base for exploring the area.

Every thing was great
