The hotel left an unforgettable impression! The reception was very warm and welcoming, making me feel at home right away. The room was spacious and comfortable, and I especially loved the wide and cozy bed, which ensured a good night’s sleep. There was always hot water, and the cleanliness throughout the hotel was impeccable. The breakfast was truly delicious and abundant. There are plenty of lovely dining options nearby where you can explore local flavors. In the evenings, the hotel garden and pool are decorated with colorful lights, making swimming especially romantic. Turtle Beach is within walking distance, making the location perfect for enjoying the beach and exploring the surroundings. I couldn’t wish for anything better and would gladly return any time.

There is a railway nearby, and the noise of passing trains can be heard in the room.

Chandima, Sanjeewa, and Lahiru are among the nicest hosts we’ve had in Sri Lanka! If you’re traveling on a budget, this place is an excellent choice—you won’t regret it. The guesthouse is centrally located, just seconds from the beach, town shops, and restaurants. We were especially impressed by the generous breakfast and the beautifully presented food. Our room exceeded expectations for the price, featuring a lovely private en-suite bathroom. Though we didn’t use the pool, we wish we had—it’s stunning, surrounded by lush green gardens that add to the charm of the property. Highly recommended!

The only concern to note is that the train passes very close to the building, which might be a bit noisy for light sleepers. However, the genuine kindness and warmth of the owners more than make up for it! Highly recommended!

We arrived with our 8-month-old baby and felt incredibly comfortable at the Hotel Finlanka from the very beginning. The rooms are very nicely furnished and the entire complex and the detailed garden are very well looked after with great attention to detail and a lot of emphasis on cleanliness and a well-kept appearance! The pool is also cleaned every day and exceeds our expectations! But above all, the great hospitality made our stay more than perfect! The host of the house (who is also a carpenter) built a really beautiful baby high chair for our son. And the hole family ist so friendly and absolut lovely any time. The completely homemade and very big and extensive breakfast was a real highlight! I can only warmly recommend this accommodation to everyone and for the services you receive, the accommodation is worth every cent! (and in my opinion too cheap for the performance you get) Always happy to come back and highly recommended!

Spacious room and balcony with the view, I was on 3rd floor. Room has everything you need: dryer for clothes on the balcony, table, ac, hair dryer, kettle, hot water, big comfortable bed with mosquito net. Hotel stuff was friendly and helpful. Sockets are adjusted, so you don't need an adapter. Breakfast includes fruits, coffee, tea, roti, eggs, toast and butter with jam, fresh juice, some sweets - everything you need. Quiet location, close to the beach side and main street. And after staying 3 days I prolonged my stay at this hotel

Hotel is close to railway, but not many trains there, so it didn't bother me at all

I had 3 great nights here. The room was spacious, clean, with a balcony, AC, fans, fridge, large bed, and many places to hang clothes. The included breakfast was lovely and the room price was very reasonable. The staff were very kind and hospitable to me. The manager, Sanjeewa, helped arrange a ride to Colombo and let me stay in my room after checkout time so I could be comfortable until my ride came. I greatly appreciated that and the other staff are also nice people. The beach and restaurants are a 5 minute walk. My stay was perfect, thank you 🙏🏽

Great peaceful location, in the middle of sleepy village which starts past the main Hikkaduwa road. Swimmingly pool. Tasty breakfast with wide selection. Hotel manager Sandeeva who was very helpful and flexible, allowed me to keep room for a bit longer. Large comfortable rooms.

Mosquitos. I've never in my life seen so many, probably because of the wet surrounding. It's not hotels choice though. I noticed that whilst manager and some staff were doing everything to ensure my stay was as pleasant as possible, other young guys weren't so helpful (eg. didn't offer help with my bags)

Excellent breakfast. Diverse with a good selection of sri lankan dishes, fruits and cakes/desserts. Refreshing welcome drink on arrival. Very accommodating and friendly staff. They will do anything they can to improve your stay.

Light shower water pressure. The bathroom is a wet room with a drain by the shower, but most of the floor gets wet too. The door doesn’t lock properly so we kept it closed using a mop/sweeper. There were a lot of mosquitoes in the room and the mosquito net had a hole in it. Wish they had a mosquito repellent instead.

The owner was very professional and kind. He wanted to make sure we’re taken good care of. The ambiance in this place is very comforting. Room was huge. It’s not the newest room, but really great value for the money. Turtle beach was very near and you can watch the baby turtles going into the water- it’s usually around 6 pm. There was lots of fresh fruits in the breakfast, coffee was good too. I also got freshly cooked omelette. There was a small parking just opposite the hotel which is a big advantage as most of the places in this area do t have parking. I’d gladly stay in Finlanka again!

Minor issue was the ants, but as the place is surrounded by trees and plants I guess that’s unavoidable.

I fell in love with this place! I cancelled my next accomodation so I could stay here longer. The owner and his wife are so hospitable and go out of their way to make your stay as comfortable and enjoyable as can be. The breakfast in the morning was incredible! The best breakfast I’ve had in Sri Lanka. I loved the pool area, it’s like a little jungle oasis. Even after checking out the owner let me stay all day by the pool and borrow snorkels to go to the beach. Then gave me a lift to the bus station! Thank you for making my stay in hikkaduwa! 🙏

The owners are such lovely people. I received a very friendly welcome. The rooms were clean, the grounds are beautiful. The breakfast is very plentiful, and the overall service is some of the best I've ever experienced. The owner organized airport transportation and took care of my needs at all times. If you come to Hikkaduwa, you should stay at this hotel.
