Thos beautiful place is run by a beautiful family, and they can't do enough to help! The rooms are a good size and great value. My room had A/C, hot water and a mini fridge which is invaluable! It's one minute's walk to the beach and is really well located for beach bars/restaurants/banks and shops. They offer tours and airport transfers also. I understand that they do amazing food, although I didn't get chance to try.

Although it's a haven of peace there is the main rail line directly behind the property, but the trains are infrequent and it really isn't a problem.

Good price. The people who ran it seemed very kind and were very welcoming.. The location is just opposite the beach. Fantastic. Tha place was very clean. The bus and train station are nearby, and buses stop along the main street, heading to Galle.

I liked the place, but it's important to know that as you are so close to the railway tracks, the trains do go racing past every couple of hours. Some of the early evening ones rattle the windows. You do get used to it.

This was our first hotel on our first trip to Sri Lanka, and it left a very warm impression. We found this place very atmospheric and cozy, with delicious breakfasts and everything we need, close to the beach, but at the same time surrounded by the jungle. On the third floor there is a large veranda and lines for drying clothes, on the first floor there is a shower to rinse off after the sea. The room had a safe, refrigerator, hairdryer and kettle. When it rained, the hosts thoughtfully provided us with umbrellas.

A modest small room for two, a tiny window behind bars and strange bed linen were not its strong point. One of the inconveniences may be the railway running under the walls of the hotel, and the walls shake at night and several times a day from passing trains. But for a few days it seemed even romantic to us.

We had a very large family room on the top floor. It was cool and spacious with very comfy beds, a safe for valuables, kettle cups, glasses and cutlery. Very useful! It had a large and very effective fan as well as excellent aircon. Everything was spotlessly clean. The bathroom was amazing with hot and cold showers, great lighting and beautiful plants! we had a private balcony with a sea view on the oneside and a shared balcony overlooking the railway tracks on the other. There were lots of fireflies! the trains to go right past, and are noisy, briefly, but they were no problem to us! we enjoyed watching them! All the shared areas were covered in plants and beautifully maintained. Our hosts were really friendly and helpful. it's 2 -3 minutes walk to one of the little beaches suitable for swimming!

Everything was super clean! The patio inside is lovely. We were staying in Junior Suite - it was huge! Big bedroom, really cozy bathroom, nice terrace with sunshine. The breakfast was simple but lovely (egg, toast, tea, fruit platter). It is located really close to the shops and about 20 min walk to nice beach area. The family who runs it is extremely friendly and helpful with everything! Lovely people.

If you are with light sleep then pay attention that this accommodation is located next to the railway. And the trains ride also at night (3-4 am). First time we heard the train during the night was horrific. Few extra pillows on the bed would be great.

The room given to me was very spacious, clean, well equipped and specially the toilet plus shower facility was commendable as it gives you an extra natural impression. Nipun, his wife, his mother and the girl who helps with the day-to-day work were all very attentive to take care of my requests and always available instantly. Easy access to beautiful beach, shops and restaurants. Even if one of the previous clients mentioned about the train track closeness and the noise, I found it's quiet and had a very good peaceful sleep during my stay of three nights. Had I had more days available, I'd have stayed more. I had the pleasure of having their home cooked tasty meals which was very nice and cheaper. They recommended me a very good reputed JLH Restaurant for lobsters and that was remarkable. All and all, I had a very pleasurable stay at Tamara Motels. Would not stay any other place when I'm in Hikkaduwa again.

Without doubt one of the favorite hotels I stayed during my time in Sri Lanka! Upon arrival we were warmly welcomed by the receptionist and we booked a twin bed room and we were upgraded to the Junior Suite Room. The staff was extremely friendly, the restaurant very flexible (appreciate this!) and We had two great evenings here, specially we need to mention in the restaurant there is a nice art. Even we never see those things before. It is amazing and lovely. Those things obviously also added up to the experience. Devindi and Nipun are such a warm personality and highly motivated guide (recommendable!). The scenery of the hotel was beautiful and it was a relieve to walk in such a quiet and peaceful environment. Note, this is such a nice place, and the atmosphere is so special that it really felt like home to me. And the railway tracks behind the property and that sound is bearable it’s not big a problem for to see the beautiful of that nature. All respect for the receptionist and the staff who does a great job here; a true sample of excellent hospitality!

Thank you for amazing stay. The house is fantastic, has a very relaxing atmosphere, the room was clean and spacious. The owners are very kind and always ready to help. I would definitely recommend it if you’re planning to stay not far from the beach and need some space for comfortable rest. The area is also good for small shopping or trying some local dishes.

Lovely family run motel, very friendly and welcoming hosts, loved the property immediately with its quirkiness and cute decor in rooms, appreciated having a fridge, kettle and somewhere to hang out wet beachwear (on the roof top) we also appreciated the location next to the train track and this added to our Sri Lankan experience after having done the Colombo, Kandy, Ella train journey. Nice breakfast, choices, and plentiful. Brilliant location only a minutes walk from beach, shops restaurants etc.

Disappointing that during a five night stay our room wasn’t made up (clean towels offered, bins emptied etc) however this did not effect the quality of our stay but is meant as helpful feedback to hosts.
