Our stay in Villa Arunalu was one of pure joy. Its not just an accomodation (fantastic), view from the balcony (stunning), breakfast and dinner (one of the best in the country) - its a whole package including amazing family which runs the place, their obvious passion for what they do, genuine interest in people and sincere desire to help you all the time. We had the most interesting conversations and learned a lot about local medicinal plants. Thank you for the soursop fruit, guys! It was delicios. Keep up with your amazing work! We recommend this place wholeheartedly!

We arrived to the Villa with our own car and took an official Google map route - which brings you via very steep (think 40 degrees) drive up the hill. Our car eventually stalled and needed to be pushed. The host sent an alternative (much easier) route via WA but we've seen it too late. :)

The staff in this hotel absolutely make it! They are an absolute delight and look after you so much! The food is perfect and I would definitely recommend having dinner there one night! The breakfast is massive! Rooms lovely, view incredible!

The only issue is the location, it was sometimes difficult to get a Tuk Tuk to take me back to the hotel as it is right in the hills, as a female solo traveller this became an issue at night, but I just offered to pay more and eventually got a Tuk Tuk! But totally worth it!

Villa Arunalla offers a delightful stay with a scrumptious continental breakfast buffet and breathtaking views from the upper-floor balcony. Located just 25 minutes from Kandy town, it is easily accessible by local auto/Tuk-tuk. The property is peaceful and impeccably clean, with a warm and gracious host who enhances the positive vibe of the place. The bed was super comfortable, ensuring a restful stay.

A few pointers: the room was not as spacious as it appeared in the pictures, and the furniture arrangement could be optimized for better space and functionality.

Really awesome stay, they main Kandy location can be a bit overwhelming whereas this location is about 20 minutes away, and a bit tricky to get to as its on the hills but once you're there, it's amazing especially the views across the lake and the absolutely amazing hosts who really looked after us. We would definitely come back and stay just to hang out with them again. They were so friendly and helpful, regularly checking in on us and just absolutely the kind of service you'll find only in boutique hotels like this.

During our 8 days trip to SRL and 8 separate stays, this was the best place we stayed, 6 others was good or ok, one was awful. I even start questioning the rating system of the booking.com when with 8.7 or 9.2 you end up in so so places and 7.8 is a total disaster. So basically you should read the evaluation based on a category or country/city, and also people who stayed before. So about the stay: The owners really care about the vibe of the place, quality of the food, and overall experience. This is not a 5 start luxury hotel but with clean rooms, friendly atmosphere, good quality food this place will fit regular travelers and people with higher standards where price is not the first criteria. The view is amazing as well.

Charming accommodation with great hosts. One of the best places we stayed during our two-week trip around Sri Lanka. Everything was very clean, beautiful dishes, everything we needed was thought of. And the view from the balcony is incredibly beautiful. Just wooow!!! We enjoyed every minute there. The breakfast was very delicious. We felt like home in this place and didn't want to leave. The hosts are very warm and kind. I recommend this accommodation with all my heart, you won't regret it 💛

- First of all a big thank you to hosts Aruna & Suranji, they greeted us with an amazing Watermelon juice on the day of arrival and gave us a temporary room till the actual rooms was ready. (very kind of them) - Breakfast was included and the home cooked breakfast with team and fruits with amazing views was very humbling. - The accommodation itself was well kept and the sunrise views were breathtaking. - My family enjoyed every bit of it as well! - Again a big thank you to Aruna and Suranji, very courteous hosts and looked after us in all aspects. - Highly recommended while in Kandy.

Wow, what a place. I had such a restful and peaceful stay here! After travelling around Sri Lanka for 3 weeks, I booked 3 nights here to rest and I am so glad I did. First of all, the hosts are just wonderful. They are everything you would expect from 5* hospitality and more. They made me feel as though I was staying with long lost family whilst still being so respectful of my privacy - they did not over impose at all. It really felt like having the best of both the hotel and guesthouse worlds. They made me feel so welcome from the moment I stepped out of the taxi! The room was the cleanest room I’ve stayed in whilst travelling here - I felt so comfortable. The views were incredible and the outside shower was so cool - showering with a view!! Pressure and temperature were both great. The hosts asked me when I wanted to have breakfast each morning the day before and it was always delicious, with different fruit every day! If I could’ve stayed longer, I would have. This was the best booking I’ve made for a while and I was very sad to leave. Thank you so much and I hope to come back one day!!

However, this was a minor issue in the grand scheme of things and hardly detracted from the overall excellence of my stay.
