Helpful staff, Villa itself is fine, rooms smaler but fine, newly reconstructed bathroom with shower in every room. Breakfast at the beach is fine. Once we had nice company of monkey family of circa 15 apes all ages at the breakfast on the way around and across us.

Surrounding is terrible either slum or construction work. Locals say there was some goverment ordered destruction of probably ilegal buildings construction at the beach ( btw can be seen on you tube) And we come off-season so no surfing at the beach (we went to Weligama bay everyday and it was perfect but 40 minutes drive one way)

We stayed at Ocean Breeze in Matara and had such a great experience, even though we had to cut our visit short due to unforeseen circumstances. From the moment we arrived, Janaka completely blew us away. He’s genuinely the sweetest person—always smiling, super hardworking, and just an all-around amazing host. He made sure we were taken care of every step of the way, and his kindness really stuck with us. The room was spacious, clean, and as surfers, we loved the location—it’s right on the beach, so it couldn’t have been more convenient. We really enjoyed our time here, and it was all thanks to Janaka and his amazing hospitality. If you’re in Matara, we’d absolutely recommend staying at Ocean Breeze!

The only thing we’d suggest (as a friendly tip) is maybe adding a foot bath or something similar at the entrance to the rooms. After surfing or walking on the beach, sand would get everywhere in the room, and it would’ve been so handy to have a spot to rinse off before heading inside. That, and a mosquito net!

We are a family of 5 and had a six night stay at Ocean Breeze on our way to Australia from France and we couldn't have got luckier. The rooms were simple, clean and comfortable with air-conditioning, white cotton sheets and great showers. The breakfast was incredible every morning with plates full of fresh tropical fruits, plain or spicy omelettes, toast, freshly squeezed juices plus tea and coffee. With an ocean view, chilled surf vibe, a cafe on the beach and local family run restaurant serving divine food we could have quite happily spent the whole time in Matara.

The room was comfortable and very pleasant. We were just a few metres (4?) from the beach and our window looked out to sea. The bed was comfortable and the air conditioning very effective. The food was great too. The beach was quiet and pleasant. It was the nicest place we’ve stayed at this price point in Sri Lanka. The manager was so helpful and welcoming, he really cared. Good birding not far from the villa. Highly recommended.

Driving my car down the narrow road to the hotel! Quite exciting, but perhaps not for the faint hearted.

This hotel is right in front of the beach with only 5 nice rooms and the loveliest staff you can imagine. The air-con in our room was working perfectly and silent, the bathroom was modern, clean and with warm water. The homemade breakfast had several options to choose and everything tasted delicious. There are several surf shops, convenience stores and restaurants nearby and Janaka, the manager was always there to help us. We fully enjoyed our stay and can only recommend coming here

Fantastic location, right on the beach. Rooms were a good size, modern bathroom. Very clean. Good food and drinks available, wonderful staff, always available, nothing too much trouble - especially Janaka the manager. Very quiet and peaceful location - popular with surfers.

Nothing I didn’t like. It’s not the Ritz but it’s a clean, comfortable and friendly place.

Lovely staff, very friendly and considerate . Room was very clean and comfortable, comfy bed and bedding. Shower was also delightful, after staying in a lot of places that didn’t have hot water, it was nice to have such clean and effective facilities.

The location is a little hard to find and away from the main restaurants and town. I arrived during a storm so I can’t comment on the outdoor facilities. Everything was fine considering the bad weather, the staff were very considerate and wanted to apologise for the weather which caused a power cut; is was not at all their fault and they handled everything superbly and made me feel very comfortable.

Very friendly, welcoming and accommodating staff, service with a smile :) The food is good and the vibe is nice, great location, right on the beach. A fridge with soft drinks/ beers you can help yourself and pay later, which is great. Good desks in the rooms, in case you need to work. I would stay again. :)

Only a small criticism, but nobody told me about the roof terrace, so only found it at the end of my stay. A slight suggestion, would be to try and tidy up some of the surrounding land between the hotel and the beach, it would make for an improved experience for guests.

Love everything nice beach to surf or jump with the waves. The property is beach front, views are amazing, the restaurant is part of the beach. Nice hot shower, AC and comfy bed. Janaka makes a difference, he is a gracious host, attentive and kind. The juices, breakfast and dinner all healthy and delicious. Everything easy here, even accept credit card.

Everything was just perfect.

Mr Janaka and the staff were very attentive and kind. I was travelling with my mother and aunt and they were given the 2 downstairs rooms, whilst I had one of the three rooms on the first floor. Every thing about the accommodation was clean and well maintained. The welcome drink on arrival, breakfasts were hearty and the dinner we had was fabulous. Nothing was too much trouble, some refreshing afternoon tea after our touring was just what we needed.

Nothing to do with the property. Unfortunately the beach in front could be better maintained, this doesn’t belong to the property so not much they can do. This issue is the same for many of the beaches I have seen, there is a bit of plastic rubbish about - something that will be corrected soon I hope.
