We enjoyed our stay overall. The room was spacious with large windows and a beautiful view. The staff were very attentive and helpful throughout our visit. The location is great, very close to several restaurants.

The breakfast was a bit boring—we noticed that Sri Lankan breakfast options were available for locals but were not offered to us. If possible, we recommend choosing the Sri Lankan breakfast instead We would have appreciated having the towels changed during our 3-night stay, and it would have been more convenient if coffee and water were refilled without having to ask each time. One thing that really saddened me, though, was witnessing a staff member trying to chase away a stray dog by throwing a stone at it. We believe animals should be treated with kindness, and this experience left a negative impression.

My stay at Lakraj Heritage in Matara was nothing short of spectacular. The location is simply breathtaking, with stunning views of the beach and easy access to the crystal-clear waters. Everything about our stay at Lakraj was great, the rooms are comfortable, the location is good and the staff are very friendly and helpful. However, on the last night of our stay, a group of guests were having a party till 2am and the rooms assigned to us were right next to the main hall. We requested the manager to ask them to reduce their volume but there were kids screaming and adults who were drinking till 2am and they didn't stop after the complains either. This was honestly very unacceptable because people come to these resorts to relax and not be disturbed in their sleep at odd hours. Another major disadvantage is- breakfast is the same everyday, they served us continental breakfast , eggs sausage and toast with jam and juice/fruits. It's a good breakfast but ideally having a different menu the next day is better, if we stayed for more than 2 nights I probably would not have enjoyed the breakfast. They cater to mainly a western group of clients. The a la carte menu has more options but again not a lot of local cuisine.

We loved our stay at LakRaj! We were there with a 1 year old and the corner, sea view room was perfect for us. The staff was exceptional, helping us out whenever we needed and even watched our baby sometimes while we ate breakfast :) The cleaning crew also did a great job. We actually had to extend our stay one day, since we enjoyed it that much. There’s plenty restaurants within walking distance, and you can even walk to a grocery store that’s about 15 min away. There’s also lots of eager tuk tuk drivers that will happily drive you. Highly recommend going for a swim with giant sea turtles that’s just past Dr. House (also a great venue for food and drinks).

The beds are quite firm, but got used to it after a while. That’s a matter of preference I guess. We also had a bit of an ant invasion but the that’s due to us leaving some food out. The hotel supplied us with some ant killing spray and it got a lot better.

We loved our stay at Lakraj. The location is wonderful, easy walks to restaurants and The doctor's house. The staff were all very friendly and helpful. Our first room didn't have a TV so we were easily moved to a new room with wonderful sea and pool views 😀 We hired a scooter right across the road and they organized a driver for us for a safari tour at Udawalwe safari about an hour and half drive. The hotel pool was awesome, a natural sea pool. We saw turtles swimming right outside as well. All in all a wonderful experience

We recently had the pleasure of staying at Lakraj Heritage Hotel in Matara, Sri Lanka, and it exceeded all our expectations. From the moment we arrived, we were warmly welcomed by the friendly staff, who made us feel right at home. The highlight of our stay was definitely the natural beach pool, which offered breathtaking views and a serene atmosphere. It was the perfect spot to unwind and enjoy the sea breeze while sipping on refreshing drinks from the poolside bar. The food at the hotel's restaurant was exceptional. We tried a variety of dishes, each bursting with flavor and made from fresh, locally sourced ingredients. The chefs truly outdid themselves, and we looked forward to every meal. Furthermore, we found the value for money to be excellent. Considering the luxurious amenities, impeccable service, and stunning location, the price we paid felt like a steal. Overall, our experience at Lakraj Heritage Hotel was nothing short of amazing. We highly recommend it to anyone looking for a memorable stay in Matara.

I went there with my family during my vacation in Sri Lanka. We had a great time. It was super relaxing and the atmosphere is amazing. I loved the natural pool by the sea. The staff were amazing and particularly Priyantha. He was kind enough to arrange us a sri Lankan breakfast which I was craving for so long. All staff who served us were aware of my allergies and food preferences of my family which was true Hospitality. The rooms are quite spacious and had sea view. My room had a door which opens to the beach/sea which full-filled my need staying by the beach.

Proximity to Dr. House was a plus and the hotel while simple was nice enough. As a place to base yourself in and do other things, it was ideal. I wouldn't spend large amounts of the day in the hotel itself. Value for money, I thought was great.

The breakfast wasn't great but that was no where near the main focus of our trip. I would suggest having a Sri Lankan option for breakfast and doing that well instead of churning out an average Continental breakfast. The bathroom was fine but we didn't have a shower cubicle so the entire bathroom got wet after a shower.
