We used to work in Stockholm and have stayed and eaten at the Diplomat many times in the last two decades, but haven’t popped in for about five years. We stayed last night. The Diplomat hasn’t lost any of its charm. The staff are so warm - many have been there for years and really care, so it feels like coming home. Beds and pillows are great. The hotel has beautiful Jugend (the Swedish version of art nouveau) interiors. It’s a real slice of history, a grande dame. So happy to have been back just now and we were made so welcome. Breakfasts are great - croissants even better than in France!

Nothing. Some youngsters may find it a little old fashioned in style but it oozes charm for my generation!

Review for Hotel Diplomat Stockholm We stayed at Hotel Diplomat for three nights and had a fantastic experience. The rooms were clean, stylish, and well-appointed, with a very comfortable bed, a lovely bathroom, and great amenities. Our room also had a nice balcony with a beautiful view, which was a great touch. The staff were all amazing—warm, attentive, and professional, making our stay even more enjoyable. The bar downstairs was a highlight, with a great atmosphere, friendly and skilled bartenders, and excellent drinks. On our last day, we used the spa room, which had a sauna and hamam—such a relaxing way to end the trip. The hotel’s location is perfect—very central and in a beautiful area, making it easy to explore Stockholm. Overall, we had a fantastic stay and would absolutely return. Highly recommend!

Everything. A very classy hotel in a perfect location in Stockholm. Easy to walk to all the water tours and around the old town.

The taxi driver who charged us over 60 us$ to go from the train station to the hotel which is about a 5 minute ride. Yes, our fault for not getting a receipt and not paying attention when paying with Apple Pay. We thought it wouldn't be necessary to ask how much the ride costs in Sweden but we learned our lesson.

Excellent location. Should have taken the train from airport but Uber did the job. Very welcoming person in Murtaza at the front desk. He made us feel very welcome & sorted out a particular room that had the most fantastic view. Fantastic breakfast in a lovely space. Very fluffy towels and comfortable pillows.

The electric kettle had to be used on the floor because the coffee machine took up all the bench space. I think my suggestion would be to check if customers needed the coffee machine. If not, take it away and put the electric kettle in its place. My other suggestion is not just to this fine hotel but to all hotels. Please put some safety grab handle when the only shower option is one over a bath. There are thousands of accidents every year from people slipping and not just the elderly.

Hotel is in the best location of Stockholm. Breakfast was good, cold selection from the buffet, eggs , pancakes you order via the waiter. Room we had was on the 5th floor, overlooking cute inner yard, was clean, comfortable, with all needed amenities My special thanks is to Victoria at the Front Desk, she helped us a lot with birthday arrangements, room change, other inquiries. She is one of the most professional people I have seen in hospitality field. She made our stay so much better.

The property looked very nice and well kept staff were kind and the hotel was in a fantastic location felt very safe. Also if you are thinking on ordering room service the staff were so nice and the food tasted so good definitely worth the price you can also leave your luggage so it’s easy to be able to walk around Stockholm without having to drag your luggage with you.

I liked everything other than the fact I didn’t realise I wasn’t able to use the sauna etc which isn’t clearly stated before staying but wasn’t a big deal and you can pay more if you really want to use it

The staff was very helpful, they managed to check us in earlier than we expected as our room was ready for our arrival. We had our window facing inner yard of the building but it reduced any noise from the street, so we would have our windows open during the night. For breakfast you are offered a menu of warm dishes that we mixed, removed or added ingredients, so there was plenty of flexibility offered.

We had slightly clogged sink, but we did not call the staff or left any note, so could not say that was a big inconvenience to us. The elevator was not working if someone would forget to close the door on their floor. We would just go 1 floor down and notice the door was not shut there, so we would take the elevator from this floow to the reception.

The staff here are exemplary - everyone from the reception desk to concierge to the waiters in the dining room to the cleaners are a credit to their profession. The location is also fantastic and the hotel's features are beautiful - in particular the antique lift. I also appreciated that the room windows can be opened for ventilation, something very rare in most hotels. Great bathrooms even in the smaller rooms. The breakfast is one of the best I've had at a hotel.

Staff were exceedingly helpful, polite and provided exceptional service. A good choice at the break buffet and additional hot food to order also available. Wonderful view of harbour from the restaurant. Bedrooms very comfortable and with all necessary facilities A reasonable walk to Gamla Stan (20 mins), and about same to Djurespark. We loved it.

Hotel didn't take cash at all. I understand why we might pay actual stay on card, but smaller ticket items eg a glass of wine, or tonic water from the mini bar - I would like to pay cash

This property is elegant, clean and efficient. The location is ideal, especially if you like to walk. All the big areas to see are easily walkable (with in 1 mile). It is also beautiful, quiet and comfortable. We splurged for a deluxe room with a view, and it does not disappoint. It was exactly what they showed in the website, not the old bait and switch, where they give you a room that you have to stick you head out the window and around the corner to see the view they promise. The breakfast was great too. Even though this hotel is only #21 on the trip advisor hotel ranking, it was fabulous. And less expensive than other higher ranked ones. It also had the old world charm that is hard to “create” in a newer property.

The coffee machine in the room looked fancy but when you made it, the water didn’t seem to get as hot as we like, but that was probably our fault. Some instructions would have been good.
