The hotel is beautiful and set back from the road in an idyllic forest along the Rhine river. The staff was very nice. There's a lovely restaurant and bar attached. The breakfast was delicious. The views from the outside along the Rhine river are unbeatable. A huge bonus was that we received a voucher for free use of all public transportation while we stayed there - and Basel has some of the best public transport around.

We loved the location - but just be aware that it's a bit far from downtown Basel. The good news is you get free access to public transportation, and there's a bus stop right at the end of the road leading to the hotel. Also, just be aware that as with most beautiful, historic hotels throughout Switzerland, there's no AC and no elevator to the rooms. This is to be expected, but in case you aren't familiar with Swiss hotels, be aware if you are traveling in the summertime.

Quit location with ample parking outside the hotel. It is an original property restored in a modern, tasteful style. My room had a large terrace outside looking out on a river. good breakfast with fresh salmon etc. Eggs cooked to liking.

The shower design isn't well thought out - although beautiful, obviously renovated and modern, the water doesn't run down the drain efficiently due to an installation/ construction/ design error.... Would definitely recommend correcting the issue...

The breakfast was wonderful. Location was unexpectedly beautiful, with nature walks in both directions along the Rhine River. Our room was lovely, and all staff were very kind and attentive. The outdoor part of the restaurant had great views all around. We wished we could have stayed longer.

The comforters in every hotel in Europe are too thick and warm for us, especially for the summer/fall seasons. We wish there were a cooler option--even just a plain sheet in the room to use over us would be great. We usually end up removing the comforter itself and just using the duvet, but that takes some doing.

The location was fantastic, facilities superb but best of all were the staff - helpful, friendly and professional.

The arrival to the hotel was surprising, as it was a small road used by public for access to walking tracks and visitors to the hotel. It was a lovely sight to see the hotel at the end of the road, and the area was very nice to experience, so close to the city but surrounded by forest. The check-in process was easy, and the staff were very welcoming and helpful with all queries. They even pointed us to the best way to travel into Basel with public transport. The room was well appointed, evidently newly refurbished and everything was extremely clean and well maintained. The old glass windows was a lovely touch of charm, as were the short stories on the bed, which was a lovely little surprise. The following morning breakfast was well laid out, a simple affair with a diverse choice of bread, pastries, cereal, fruit and with eggs and coffee to order, there was nothing more that was required.

The only negative point that I can think of was the shower. The water temperature was a little inconsistent for both parties we were traveling with. The shower also tended to leak, under the bottom of the door, however these small issues did nothing to detraact from the quality of our stay.

The very high quality of the service! Both human interaction and the room! Appreciated the attention to detail, the location is perfect for a quiet getaway, in the middle of a forest, quiet, 10 minutes drive from the Messe/Congress center. Loved the interior design! I didn't have time to enjoy the grounds, but they looked amazing! Definitely need to go there again!

In the woods, alongside the Rhine and only 4 km from Basel. Very calm. Excellent quality of accomodation and restaurant. Excellent and very friendly service.

The room was too hot when we arrived at 20.30 hrs mid July. Opening the windows to refresh at night we were invaded by mosquitos. Consequently we did not sleep well. The restaurant is good but extremely expensive.
