Stunning setup with a minimalistic industrial look. My dorm was exactly like in the pictures and I was lucky enough to be the only guest during my stay. The staff is simply the most loving and friendly. Since I was there for work and had to leave the hostel before breakfast they made sure to prepare a breakfast box. The hostel is well connected to public transports (tickets covered from the hostel during your stay) and a twenty minutes walk away from the city centre. Not a party hostel, perfect for families, solo travelers and couples.

The hostel doesn’t feel like it. its very clean, quiet and cozy. I really loved the free healthy breakfast and the facilities. Would stay here again
No curtains on the bed, there is like a half wooden panel on each bed but a curtain can add more privacy. Other than that everything is excellent

Lovely, interesting space. Quite close to public transport, which was free with the Basel card!
Check in felt a bit tricky. The pillows were too soft. Unfortunately I didn't enter from the attractive side of the building (which I really wanted to see) - Google Maps took me to the highway direction.

The best hostel we’ve ever stayed at! Very kind personnel, clean, sustainable, comfortable and cozy! We even had a nice welcome pack in the room and the Basel card for free public transport during our stay + 50% off for museums and exhibitions! We also had all the facilities in the room or by request (e.g. umbrellas, iron, etc). The breakfast was a selection of delicious, sustainable vegetarian option. We had self check-in and check-out which worked great!
The only inconvenient was the location, in the sense that on booking it was written “in the city center”, but actually it is 20 min by bus from the city center. The area is a residential zone, so it is ok and safe, but we expected something else. However, the fact that we received the Basel card for free transportation made the experience better!

I had a truly wonderful experience staying at Silo Hostel in Basel. The atmosphere is warm, stylish, and refreshingly different from typical hostels. The building itself, a beautifully converted industrial silo, blends modern design with comfort in a way that feels both artistic and welcoming. The rooms were spotless, quiet, and thoughtfully designed, with comfortable beds and ample space. I especially appreciated the attention to detail and the eco-friendly approach throughout the hostel. The staff were incredibly friendly, helpful, and always ready to answer questions or offer local tips. The common areas—especially the lounge and café—are perfect for relaxing or socializing with travelers from around the world. The breakfast was fresh and delicious, with plenty of options. The location is also excellent: peaceful yet well-connected by public transport, and just a short tram ride from the city center and major sights. Overall, Silo Hostel exceeded my expectations. It’s a place I would gladly return to and highly recommend to anyone looking for a unique and comfortable stay in Basel.
There was absolutely nothing I didn’t like. Everything was perfect from start to finish.

Super clean property and nice high ceiling building.Good decorated breakfast area at the first floor. There is no 24 hrs reception but check in is super easy with tablet. They provide you a basel card for public transportation which is nice touch for me.To me just the breakfast was bit poor can be improved. For example i saw a carrots on the veggie side and havent seen anyone eating carrot in the morning can be replace with tomatos. Also there is no hot dishes at the breakfast even by additional cost.Beside that i loved it here.Easy to reach from airport and just 6-7 mins walk to musical theather tram station which u can use to go to center..There was a lady at the breakfast she was kind.Thank you

I really liked it, I was amazed and fascinated. When I told Hilde, the receptionist and restaurant host, that I was very impressed, she gave me detailed information about the history of this building and showed me photos. There was also a book in the living room, Hilde showed me the part about Silo Hostel, in the book. By the way, Hilde is an extremely kind, smiling and helpful hotel employee. She asked me in the morning if I was comfortable during the night. I said the goose feather pillow was too thin for my neck so she gave me a second pillow so I was extremely comfortable for the next 2 nights. I am a 59-year-old solo traveler, so my biggest concern was finding the transportation vehicle and the location of the hostel after getting off at the airport. I was also worried about whether I would be able to do the self-check-in. Everything was very easy. I took the number 50 bus from the airport. The hotel prepares your daily transportation card in advance anyway. In this case, you get on the bus without paying a fee. When you arrive at the hotel, it is also very easy to check in via Hostel's tablet. In conclusion, everything was perfect. Silo Design & Boutique Hostel Basel was the only hotel I was sad to leave. I loved it very much 🩷
I loved everything

Breakfast was good, stuff friendly, wifi works fine
There are NO power plugs in the room!! You can only charge your phone via USB cable. I only had a USB-C to USB-C cable, so I was unable to charge nor the phone, neither my laptop. On the next day I found a power plug in the public area, but why!! Realy, why!!! Why not to make a power plug next to everyone's bed??

I liked the rooms' the style and design, our room was quiet with no sound from the street, it was very clean, the bed is comfortable and the towels are a treat. We had coffee with oat milk which was delicious. The staff were welcoming and friendly.
The room was very warm (no thermostat, so I can only guess: 27 degrees Celsius) and we couldn't find out how to adjust it, the windows wouldn't open. I was also a bit confused about the hotel's bicycle offer (one of the reasons I chose it), they told me they only had one - there were two of us - and I'm not sure if they only had one for the time we stayed or at all. The breakfast was okay, the coffee was really nice, but I would add vegan bread spreads for those who eat vegan.

A-M-A-Z-I-N-G architecture, even though I‘m not a fan of brutalism and modernism of the 1930-1960s, this building just feels grand. Amazing value for money. Glad to have a bathroom in a double suite, even in a hostel. Nice beds.
The view from the double suite was on the motorway - the windows were sealed, but the ambiance is not for the chill-out playlist. The breakfast was cozily prepared but very scarce, no diversity of options. On the other hand, for the price of it, it‘s understandable, especially given that this is Switzerland.
