Stunning setup with a minimalistic industrial look. My dorm was exactly like in the pictures and I was lucky enough to be the only guest during my stay. The staff is simply the most loving and friendly. Since I was there for work and had to leave the hostel before breakfast they made sure to prepare a breakfast box. The hostel is well connected to public transports (tickets covered from the hostel during your stay) and a twenty minutes walk away from the city centre. Not a party hostel, perfect for families, solo travelers and couples.

The hostel doesn’t feel like it. its very clean, quiet and cozy. I really loved the free healthy breakfast and the facilities. Would stay here again

No curtains on the bed, there is like a half wooden panel on each bed but a curtain can add more privacy. Other than that everything is excellent

I liked everything. Hostel is still quite new. Room was clean, bed spaces interestingly designed. Public spaces, bathrooms also clean and taken care of. Towels and cosmetics provided by the hostel. Personel is nice. Self check in and out procedure easy to follow. Breakfast, while did not offer as much choice as in some other places I stayed in, was delicious and everything was fresh. Hostel might not be located near centrum, it is still super quick and easy to reach via public transport, that includes way to and from the airport. Basel Card is provided. Price for this quality is very good. Recommended, especially when someone travels solo.

The location is good. It is however far from the main attractions in Basel. The free Basel card makes up for it though as you merely travel in and out with the bus without paying. If you take bus number 30 from the train station you get quite close to the accommodation, just a short walk further. There is also a well stocked store around the corner in the mall which is a huge plus. The staff was friendly and helpful as well.

Although the breakfast was delicious it would have been perfect if some sort of protein like eggs were added to the selection. I requested it additionally, however they do not serve it at all. You also get one free hot drink with your breakfast which is yogurt, fruit, freshly baked bread, different cheeses and spreads.

Beautiful modern design hostel. Shared bathrooms were clean. Staffs were helpful and friendly and they spoke English fluently. The location of the hostel is 20 mins bus ride from the city hall. I think it's great for the end of the day to be in the back garden with much less people.

The wooden frame shared beds made some noise every time someone moved. The hostel has earplugs available so it was helpful in my case of a light sleeper. For the shared bathroom maybe an additional shelf in the shower cabinet to put stuffs would be appreciated. The hostel's entrance is next to the motorway.

I appreciated the possibility for arriving later than anticipated without any problems; the bathroom was exquisite; you could not hear the street/highway at all; I like the architecture, and the fact that the breakfast was in the coffeebar - super nice vibe, and the bread was AMAZING! I was nice to have different kinds of travellers or guests in one spot, like working people, backpackers, youngsters, couples, it felt very diverse :)

The only thing that was 'weird' was that you couldn't open the windows, but it also make sense given the height of the building and the noise of the street. Coming from a village, I have the tendency to let in fresh air, even though the air from the highway wouldn't be that purifying though, but still :) .

The room was really spacious and so were the bathrooms. Super super clean, up to swiss standards. The towels are included, which is great for people that travel light. Bathroom also had some shareable toiletries just in case you forgot something. There are two common rooms to hang out with fridge and kettle for your use. Breakfast is great and fresh. They include a free pass for buses and trams which is really convenient. Plus the staff is really helpful (they were very patient with me on my checkout day).

Location is a bit far from businesses. They do not have staff 24 h, last shift ends at 7 PM and so the common room closes at that time, which is a bit early for a hotel during summertime.

Bottom bunks feel too close to the ground. Literally next to the floor. The partitions are very useful for privacy but I was under the impression they were rolling left and right and provide full privacy,like having your own pod. Probably a mistake on my part. Lighting was huge, only one big lamp in the room. Individual lights at each bed provided but don't really help. Somebody entering the room late, won't reach them easily Lastly, a disinfectant product for guests to use in the toilet whould be a good idea

The best hostel we’ve ever stayed at! Very kind personnel, clean, sustainable, comfortable and cozy! We even had a nice welcome pack in the room and the Basel card for free public transport during our stay + 50% off for museums and exhibitions! We also had all the facilities in the room or by request (e.g. umbrellas, iron, etc). The breakfast was a selection of delicious, sustainable vegetarian option. We had self check-in and check-out which worked great!

The only inconvenient was the location, in the sense that on booking it was written “in the city center”, but actually it is 20 min by bus from the city center. The area is a residential zone, so it is ok and safe, but we expected something else. However, the fact that we received the Basel card for free transportation made the experience better!

I had a truly wonderful experience staying at Silo Hostel in Basel. The atmosphere is warm, stylish, and refreshingly different from typical hostels. The building itself, a beautifully converted industrial silo, blends modern design with comfort in a way that feels both artistic and welcoming. The rooms were spotless, quiet, and thoughtfully designed, with comfortable beds and ample space. I especially appreciated the attention to detail and the eco-friendly approach throughout the hostel. The staff were incredibly friendly, helpful, and always ready to answer questions or offer local tips. The common areas—especially the lounge and café—are perfect for relaxing or socializing with travelers from around the world. The breakfast was fresh and delicious, with plenty of options. The location is also excellent: peaceful yet well-connected by public transport, and just a short tram ride from the city center and major sights. Overall, Silo Hostel exceeded my expectations. It’s a place I would gladly return to and highly recommend to anyone looking for a unique and comfortable stay in Basel.

There was absolutely nothing I didn’t like. Everything was perfect from start to finish.
