The location was great it was just off the main road so there was no noise, but was still central to everywhere in town. The cable car/ski lift up to First was right next door which was very handy and the bus route to the train station passed by the end of the drive way. Breakfast was continental style with a wide variety of options to choose from. The facilities were spot on. There was even the oportunity to book in a private session in the sauna. But best of all, each member of staff clearly loved their job and were extremely kind and friendly. They were very knowledgeable too and gave tips for places to go in the area and surrounding areas. We felt very welcome and would definitely stay here again.

I enjoyed all 7 nights at this small,family- run Chalet . It's a 15 -second walk to the best ski gondola("First") and near many cafes and restaurants -yet it's quiet because it's set back from the main street .I even slept with the windows wide open. Many rooms have balconies that offer grand views of the dramatic mountains. Comprehensive breakfast,with healthy options. I can't imagine a better location in all of Grindelwald.(And I explored everywhere)The bus stop is a half -minute walk away from the front door. Pleasant and cheerful front office staff,cleaning staff and breakfast staff. Comfortable bed.Good strong hot water in the tub/shower. Consistently good wifi signal all 7 nights.

We’ve stayed in Grindelwald twice before but wish we’d found the Hotel Alte Post sooner. It’s fabulously located, the room we had was large with a balcony and a fabulous view of the Eiger to wake up to. The housekeeping staff were lovely and friendly, as were the staff at breakfast and on reception. We felt very comfortable and welcomed. The owner was a lovely lady who was incredibly helpful. We liked everything about this Swiss style property!

Location is outstanding. Our room was large, beds were comfortable, and everything was spotlessly clean. View from our balcony was breathtakingly lovely. Breakfast buffet offered many choices; scrambled eggs were made to order and were absolutely delicious. Hotel staff were charming and helpful.

The bathtub/shower rim was very high and difficult for an older person (75) to climb over. This feature would limit my ability to return to the hotel unless some bathrooms were configured specifically for persons with mobility issues.

Breakfast was delicious, complete with fruits, a selection of yoghurt, delicious breads. The view from the balcony is perfect, with a full view of the Eiger and the canyon. We could see the entrance to the Firstbahn from the breakfast room. The staff was amazing, Helena in particular was very helpful. The decoration is simple and elegant, especially the style on the sheets, curtains, and towels. There are some skulls in the walls from hunted animals which may be creepy or sad to some.

The animal skulls in the walls are a bit creepy to me, but seems to be part of the local culture.

Location was perfect in the heart of town but close to the train station. I was able to walk next-door to do the first Grindelwald lift. Be sure to use your half pass there. Check-in staff at the hotel was amazing and very friendly. I felt very comfortable staying there alone.

This was our favorite stay in Switzerland due to a combination of several things: the staff from the wonderful and friendly lady with the glasses at the front desk to the restaurant and cleaning crew were all so incredibly welcome and friendly. The breakfast was also excellent. We felt comfortable throughout the entire stay and will definitely stay here again and will certainly recommend this hotel to friends and family.

The hotel is run by the owner and you can see that she knows very well how to offer a perfect service and takes pride in it. The breakfast was fantastic, with high quality products. Thank you!

One of the shutter’s was damaged so we couldn’t close it and the sun light woke us up at 6am. But we managed to go back to sleep, so it was ok.

It was fantastic 5 nights stay! Great location of the hotel, very quiet, private parking, friendly and helpful staff, yummy breakfast. The departure from the hotel was like leaving your relatives, the lady at reception even presented to us two bars of local chocolate

All was good

Everything! It’s centrally located, just 10 mins from the train station. The views from the hotel were unbeatable. But what we loved the most was the food — not just at the breakfast buffet, but the restaurant as well. It was outstanding! We are fairly everywhere in Grindelwald, but the freshness, quality and taste of the food was just terrific.
