We booked the hotel as it was dog friendly. Lots of hotels say they are dog friendly but they really mean ‘we allow dogs to sleep in your room’ but the Sunstar was truly dog friendly. They were allowed anywhere in the hotel that we were. We never asked for water the staff always just appeared with some for them, and they were left treats & poo bags in our room! It was great for us humans too. Breakfasts were delicious and we had fondue in the restaurant which I would recommend. All the staff were super helpful & friendly. Hotel is also super central. We travelled with our campervan and the staff made sure we had a big enough space to park for the duration. Would definitely go back, we were there in summer and would love to go back for a ski holiday.

It is quite expensive for people travelling from the UK but that’s Switzerland!

the location was great: surrounded by charming little shops, restaurants and close to the bus stops which was very convenient. The room was clean and i appreciated the complimentary mini bar on the first day. The mountain view was stunning. Breakfast was another big plus with plenty of options and variety especially as a vegetarian. The staff were super friendly and helpful.

The only downsides were the flat pillows at first, though the staff quickly brought us extra ones when we asked which was great. A bit of an unpleasant odor during the last day or two, no idea where that came from.

We had a lovely stay at Sunstar Hotel in Grindelwald! The First mountain station is located right in front of the hotel, making it the perfect starting point for outdoor activities. The view during breakfast overlooking the Eiger Mountain is absolutely breathtaking — truly unforgettable. The hotel is well-located in the heart of downtown, close to shops, restaurants, and main attractions. The room was good, though the pillow was too soft and not very supportive. Also, there’s no A/C, but they do provide a fan which helped during the warmer hours. although breakfast was a bit limited, it was tasty and satisfying. The train station is about a 15-minute walk, but the hotel offers free shuttle service both ways, which was really convenient. They also provide a guest card for free use of public transportation. The reception staff were friendly and welcoming. We had the best time in Grindelwald and would definitely return to the town !

One small detail — I wish they provided slippers, as those little extras do make a difference (they are available for purchase 🥲). There was a bit of a strange smell in the hotel, especially near the entrance — likely from the wood and cheese — but it’s part of the mountain lodge charm.

The breakfast was exceptional! The minibar was stocked twice for us for no charge! The room came with a free bus pass to get around Grindlewald and a discountoff many other attractions! The view was gorgeous. We entirely planned to use the spa, but never did due to spending too much time on top of mountains by using the cable car systems around town.

No AC! Luckily we had a balconey room so we were able to open the doors to get a breeze. There was a fan in the room that we definitely used! My husband hated the pillow, but I folded it in half and slept fine on it.

We had an AMAZING room with a wrap around porch and unobstructed views of EVERYTHING!! Sooooo gorgeous. Worth the money to be able to relax on the porch and look at the view, so we didn't have to hustle around. My husband loved having a cigar and scotch on back patio. We could see the entrance to Grindelwald First from our porch, but we had more than a 180 degree view from room 528. Breakfast was AMAZING and tons of choices and great hours. It did have tour groups checking in almost every day, so we were happy to bypass the lobby to go directly to our room each afternoon.

Pillows were a bit flat. We stacked up several but would have been nice to have better ones.

Honestly the service was absolute top notch! I’ve travelled all over the world and I’ve never had such a pleasant experience as the staff in the entire hotel. From reception, to bartenders and hosts - it was truly helpful and made our stay such a pleasant experience. We would definitely come back to grindelwald next winter and needless to say where will be staying again. Amenities were perfect, food at the breakfast and the restaurant on the side of the hotel was amazing too. Great food at good prices. Location is probably at the best area of the entire village. I booked it on a whim and it was such a great experience. Needless to say 10/10.

What an incredible place to stay - we feel very lucky to have been here over Christmas. The staff were excellent in every regard - polite, helpful and friendly at every level. The hotel exceeded our expectations throughout our stay - the complimentary hot wine on christmas eve outdoors next to fire pits, the huge spa pool (we even had it to ourselves) and the breakfasts with the views of the eiger were particular highlights. Our room was brilliant - just about big enough for the 3 of us and the view of the eiger from our balcony was exceptional.

Our room was very warm and the temp could not be controlled in the room - but we just opened a window to our amazing view to cool us down.

Great location right opposite grindelwald first and located right next to several good eating spots and ice cream shacks. The staff were so friendly, Dawt on reception and Yev in the spa are an absolute credit to this hotel, I hope you all get to encounter their customer service :) Room view was incredible and the room immaculate, they even laid out a bed and some treats for our dog which was super cute and such a nice touch.

The location is unbeatable, with amazing views from the terrace, breakfast room and the spa. A very pleasant lobby area with a bar and a fireplace. Awesome spa and wellness facilities, with a delightful relaxation room. Very nice and welcoming staff and a comfortable room. Would gladly stay again.

The furniture in the room, including the wooden door, were quite worn out and would benefit from updating. It would be nice to have not only coffee, but also tea bags in the room.

Absolutely beautiful location, clean rooms and good breakfast. Really enjoyed some family time in the beautiful lobby with their stunning fireplace. Excellent for travelling with children.

The room we stayed in was tiny, the beds weren’t big nor comfortable and the choice of pillows was poor. Overall, it seemed like we were paying more for the beautiful scenery than the actual place, it seemed slightly overpriced.
