Breathtaking views from my room’s balcony. The hotel atmosphere is cozy, quiet and clean. Walking distance to bus, grocery store, cable car and hiking trail to lake oeschinen. It’s a great stay for visiting Oeschinensee, Blausee (take the bus 230) and other surrounding areas. Breakfast is provided and I met the very friendly kitty who came to me for hugs😊 Strongly recommend and will definitely come back if I visit Kandesteg again!

We took a short break at the Bernerhof Hotel in Kandersteg on the recommendation of a friend and we are so glad we did. The hotel is family-run and it is so relaxed and welcoming, and the food was amazing, thank you so much Claudia and Gerhard. The room was lovely and overlooked the meadow in front of the hotel. We took the cable car to Oeschinensee and another to Allmenalp. We also took the bus to the Nature Park at Blausee, and another to Frutigen to cross the Hohstalden Suspension Bridge. We took the train to Bern and also to Spiez, which is like being in the Mediterranean. A special mention for Roger at the Hotel Belvedere in Spiez who made our brief visit so special, with wine and cake on the balcony overlooking the lake; you are a true gentleman. Thank you

Everything you think you know about Switzerland is true. It is clean and beautiful and the skies are blue. We didn't want to leave!

This hotel is in a good location for our purposes. The owners are so friendly and welcoming that we feel as if they have become our friends. We elected half board and loved our meals. They were amazing! We also enjoyed the afternoon tea and pastries they offered. My husband appreciated being able to read several of the books available to guests. We will definitely return here the next time we visit Kandersteg.

It was fairly warm while we were here, and we would have appreciated a lighter weight blanket for the bed, rather than the heavy comforter which was on it. This, however, may be our fault as we didn’t think to ask for a lighter weight option.

The location was perfect and the room was lovely and clean

We didnt like the spot lights illuminating the hotel frontage pointing directly into our window. It was pouring of rain when we arrived and the hotel is quite a walk from the train station. Although we arrived 1 hour before checkin time and we were allowed to leave our bags a nice touch would have been to be offered a coffee or seat as we were.

Everything exceeded my expectation. I arrived before the check in time, left my luggage at the counter, and when I came back from Oeschinensee, the luggage was already in my room! The view from my room was fantastic. At night, I was able to see the milky way despite the annoying street lights. Also, the moon shone through the room, creating a magical ambience.

I visited with my friends in summer. Great panoramatic views from the hotel, absolutely amazing continental breakfast with plenty of fresh produce, I was looking forward to it every day, you cannot beat fresh bread and swiss cheese! Staff in both breakfast room and at the reception are very friendly and helpful. Hotel is close to the gondola terminal and right in the town. Coffee and tea facilities next to reception together with lovely seating area. We had a great time there I very much recommend this wonderful place.

The only suggestion, I wish there was a little fridge in the room to keep drinks cold in hot summer.

Very professional friendly staff. Large bedroom with fantastic Mountain View. Comfortable bed . Large bathroom. TV with English news channel. Self service coffee , tea and cake from an urn in the afternoon and evening. A comprehensive self service breakfast , with optional scrambled egg and bacon . Four course evening meal exceptional and excellent value. Close to the cable car to Lake Oeschinensee., and 15 minute walk to the aerial Allmenalp mountain cable car.

My Wife and I had previously stayed at This lovely Hotel 14 years ago and I promised myself that I would once again return! We have just returned spending a further 4 wonderful days at The Bernerhof. Claudia, Gerhard and the whole team were very friendly and welcoming . This time we opted for a Mountain View room which was comfortable spotlessly clean with views of the mountains to die for. Eating at the hotel is a real pleasure with great friendly service . We decided on the Half board option for Evening meals , the 4 course meals were beautifully presented , however my only minor observation was that the menu choices were quite limited. But on reflection looking at cost of eating out generally in Switzerland I think that the 45Chf per person still represents good value. And as said the service is excellent. Our verdict after 14 years The Hotel is still quite wonderful with lovely hard working efficient friendly hosts

Breakfast was great. There were multiple things to choose from or you could request bacon and eggs made fresh. The owner made me hot chocolate every morning when she found out it didn’t drink coffee.

I have no complaints. The location was excellent and I had a great view from my porch. The hotel feels a little dated, but not enough to be off-putting.

I stayed 4 nights and I've had such a pleasant stay, everything was just perfect: beautifuly decorated, lovely and clean rooms, attention to details ,amazing wellness spa, great breakfast, lovely staff and a warm vibe in general. Claudia and Gerhard are the loveliest and most welcoming hosts i've ever met , always there happy to help. The hotel is very close to gondola just 5 min walking. I highly recommend it for solo travelers.

There was nothing to dislike , i only kindly suggest to add hair conditioner to bathroom toiletries.
