Excellent hotel with extraordinary service! The hotel is literally built inside of a real castle, and everything about the hotel and the room is so well designed that we felt like the price we pay was like a bargin. Location: the castle is on top of a hill, but there is an elevator that takes you from the old town directly to the hill top. We didn't found the elevator when we arrived, so we suffered a little bit from carrying the suitcase up all the stairs. Taxi is also an option. With the help of the elevator, it is a 10 min walk from the train station and the ferry terminal. Hotel Facilities: We arrived at the hotel earlier than the check-in time, but the staff at the reception kindly checked if our room is ready nontheless. After knowing it was not yet ready, we were welcomed to rest in the dinning area, where I ordered some tea. After resting for almost an hour, the staff came informed us the room was ready, and the drink was on the house as a welcome drink! It wasn't much but it was indeed a super nice guesture. Spa: Be sure to book the spa with the reception. Since it require reservation, the hotel makes sure the area is not over crowded. I booked the spa for 21:00-22:00 (last slot), and I was the only person in the SPA! It was such a nice relax in the sauna, after a whole week of travelling in switzerland. I was having pain in my ankle earlier that day, but it was completely gone after the spa session. Again, every facility in the SPA was in perfect condition. I am constantly amazed by how well the hotel was run. Room: The room is facing the yard of the castle museum, not so much great view, but we were our enjoying views during the day anyways. The room is compact, but they designed it very well to make it very spacious to put luggages, jackets and other belongings away without obstructing the passages. Breakfast: Another fantastic breakfast with the greatest view.
I know the view from the room was probably not the best, given that is was not shown in the description, but knowing that it is at ground level facing a tourist exit was a little bit surprise. However they installed a one-way mirror at the window so that it is impossible to see the inside from the outside, which makes it not a big problem.

I usually don’t write reviews for hotels, but this experience truly deserves recognition. Yannick went above and beyond in every possible way. From the moment we arrived, he was exceptionally warm, kind, and friendly—so much so that it felt like he already knew us. His hospitality made us feel instantly at home. What stood out most was his patience and attentiveness. I had many questions throughout our stay, and he always responded with a smile and clear, thoughtful explanations. His professionalism and kindness made a real difference. I also want to mention how welcoming the owner was. I had previously stayed here last year without my mother, and the staff were already very friendly and accommodating. However, during this recent visit—with my mother, who wears a hijab—I was genuinely touched to find that they were even more welcoming and respectful. I had some initial concerns that we might feel out of place, but instead, we were treated with the utmost kindness and warmth. It was a beautiful and reassuring experience that made us feel truly seen and respected. I’m very grateful and would wholeheartedly recommend this place to anyone seeking a welcoming and thoughtful environment.
Nothing.

It’s a castle!! Then, I LOVE the quality of the contents of the rooms. The faucets, sheets, makeup mirror, drawers, espresso machine… even the elevator… all high quality. This very much adds to the experience. I don’t mind paying more for many nice things. Thank you. Everything is so clean. The bed was very comfortable. The front desk man(Yanic?) and our breakfast waiter were exceptional! They were warm, friendly, very attentive and helpful. Keep them. 😁
My husband said the pillow was too thin. Maybe a third pillow would be helpful? The room was too warm and a little stuffy. A fan would also be very nice to have.

I had a wonderful stay at Schlosshotel Thun. The hotel was spotlessly clean, with beautiful views and a cozy atmosphere. The staff were exceptionally warm and friendly, making me feel welcome from the moment I arrived. The spa area is small but charming, with everything you need to relax after a day of exploring. One of the highlights was the location — just a quick elevator ride down to the Old Town, which made getting around so easy and enjoyable. I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Thun!

We stayed in the guard tower room, which is a bit different from most of the rooms in the hotel. It's right above the castle gate, with windows on 3 sides, but since the walls are 70cm thick and made of stone, it's very well insulated from noise. The conveniences/electrical system were slightly constrained by the fact that we were surrounded by thick stone, but they nonethless did a great job of making a beautiful, comfortable, and engagingly quirky room. Breakfast was also exceptional, with some of the best bread and pastry I've had in Switzerland.

This is my first time reviewing a booking because I absolutely loved my stay at Hotel Schlossberg! I was unsure about the shuttle service and was arriving late, so I emailed the hotel. The hotel staff replied to my emails promptly with details. Despite the "building" being a real old castle, the room facilities are much more modern than the rest of the hotels I stayed in Switzerland. And the castle itself is stunning! I enjoyed the museum and the view from the top of the castle. If you're going to Interlaken, I strongly recommend that you stay here cuz it is also very easy to make a day trip between Thun and Interlaken.
I loved everything at this hotel -- staff, room, breakfast, views. Everything was amazing.

Hotel is located in a castle with a great view. Room is comfortable and good for one night. Breakfast was very good. The guy that did our check in was very kind and helpful!!
It was not easy to get to the hotel, since the information about where to get the lift up to the castle were not clear enough. We spent a lot of time trying to find the way. The staff attending the breakfast was rude and with no patient. Speaking in English with the lady was not easy and she was not friendly at all. Later on we tried to have lunch at the hotel terrace and the waiter was so ill-willed that we gave up.

the location in the castle and the view from there is wonderful.
The only thing that would have been better would be if I had known about the elevator from town that takes you up to the castle and hotel. I arrived via train and walked to the hotel. And, not knowing about the elevator, the walk up the hill with my bags was quite a workout!

Staying in the tower room was a once in a lifetime experience! We had dinner at the castle’s restaurant and the food as well as the service was excellent.
There was no communication from the hotel staff before our arrival. It would have been nice from them to give us a heads up on how to get to the castle and let us know that there was access to an elevator, as well as a courtesy shuttle to pick us up from the train station. Unfortunately, we did not know that and therefore, we had to climb about 200 steps with luggage to get there. It was not a pleasant experience at all.

The hotel, with its newly renovated rooms, is located in a veritable castle, overlooking Thun. The rooms by themselves are perhaps a little bit on the small side, but they are comfortably furnished, and a few (very sugary) soft-drinks were provided to us in the minibar for free. One should note that there is only a single room in the entire place which features a view; and the latter is magnificent. The spa area, which can be reserved for a private time slot, is top notch for a boutique hotel, containing a Finish sauna, a steam room, and a whirpool, all very modern and clean, with lots of glass. In the evening we tried the restaurant, which serves very solid "castle specialities" (on the heavy side) together with a few little gems (such as the home-marinated "alpine salmon"). The staff is friendly and proactive; they were eager to make our stay a nice one. A useful detail to note is that the castle museum, which gives access to the towers, is only open on Sundays. Parking is available (at a shared fee) in the public garage at the foot of the hill, with an elevator leading from there almost directly to the premises.
Some water instead of the over-sweet soft drinks in the room would have been much appreciated.
