I really liked the location. You can walk from Taipei Main Station to the hotel, don't really need to take a cab or uber. Ximending and Dihua street are both just an easy walk away, nice for sightseeing. Many eateries and shops around. The staff were nice at the hotel. The room was very spacious and the bathroom had a hot tub with massage/jet function, it was amazing!

Overall the hotel is a bit outdated, but one could argue it's "classic elegance". What really irked me was the exit sign inside the room. It's way too bright! I needed to use eye covers to be able to sleep. I understand it's a safety requirement and a feature, but it doesn't have to be so bright. It was like trying sleeping in a well-lit room, equivalent of a 60W light. The fridge was too loud, but I was able to unplug it for the night. The breakfast is not worth it, just don't pay for it, go outside and buy something fresh.

We liked everything about your hotel. EG only rooms in the building so much quieter. One night I want some ice, instantly it got delivered . We love the old fashion decor. The desk had some defect but it’s not important to us. The room is large and bright. We both just LOVE your small jacuzzi tub. Don’t waste too much water and you can get a good soak. But the most important of all is your staff, from the door man, the people at the counter, the patient concierge answering questions after questions. When I hurt myself falling , asking for some table salt. 5 minutes later a gentleman came to my door with FIRST AID kit, gave me whatever I needed. I was very impressed and touched to have staff so caring about the guests! I grew up in Taipei but I had been in Canada over 60 years working as a pharmacist for 37 years! So I really appreciate good service. You all made me proud to be from this beautiful island. Most incredible and sweet memory to take it back home to Vancouver Canada! THANK YOU VERY MUCH TO ALL YOUR STAFF!!!! From Suzanne and kaien Shimizu.

MRT is closer would be nice. But we enjoying walking on vacations.

This hotel is great for the double rooms, while the superior queens seem a little overpriced. Still, booking for a week or two weeks or even just a few days, if you book in advance a couple weeks early, you can get cheaper deals on good rooms. The service staff are excellent and the rooms are cozy. My only regret is that I didn't just book for our whole vacation here...but then, I didn't know about this gem of a hotel until after I had to cancel for a different one.

Coffee/tea comes without sugar or cream, kind of disappointing. Buffet breakfast is also pricey, so try to book with breakfast included.

I liked that the front desk has water upon request, room service that comes to change the trash and towels everyday, and that it’s close to convenience stores such as 7-11 and Familymart. It is also fairly close to the North Gate of Taipei Main Station.

It is slightly inconvenient that laundry cannot be done inside the hotel- rather, it has to be sent away with fees for different types of clothing if you use the laundry service. However, there is also a self service laundromat about a minute’s walk away that requires 50 NTD for washing, 10 NTD for every 5 minutes of drying, and 10 NTD for laundry detergent.

The price. I was traveling around the island, and you can't even find a decent B&B along the way for under three grand. The king size bed. The room facilities—it had pretty much everything I could think of. The breakfast that was much better than I expected. All in all, it was a fairly pleasant stay.

The claustrophobic feeling due to the ceiling height of about 210–215 cm. It felt rather stuffy in the room even with the A/C running. The Datong-branded TV's sound system was very shabby. The bed mattress carries the vibrations too well, so every time your partner moves at night, you'll feel it. The hotel is aging, but you still can't beat the price.

The staffs were so kind. They cleaned our room well. If you can enjoy the trip near Dihua street, It’s a good location but if you want to go Ximending often, you should know that it’s quite far. It takes about 15-20 minutes by bus and 35-40 minutes by foot. We were 3 members of family and could get 3 single beds. If you want to have an each bed for each one, it can be a good choice.

I saw the mold behind the curtain. So I couldn’t open the window. And the room is being humid after the shower but it’s a kind of climatic characteristic of Taiwan. So I could handle it.

A very nice hotel in a central area of the city that is a very good value. There are some tourist areas nearby but it is not busy so quiet at night. Some reviews complained about some rooms not having a window but it did not bother me, there are curtains up so it doesn’t feel like it is windowless. The space in the room was fine for one and probably not too bad if there is a second person. The breakfast was plentiful, Asian oriented (which is expected) but still other options available. I liked how it was fairly central so most things are convenient to get to on the metro. The staff were friendly and there was no issues dealing with them in English. I saw a sign for a gym but I didn’t try to see it.

There is not much to not like about the hotel but if I had to say something it would be the proximity to the metro station. There is not much that the hotel can do about that 😉 It is not too bad, less than 10 minute walk and is situated in the central part of the city.

The front desk staff (and all staff) were all exceptionally helpful and friendly and all spoke good English (Ruby, Chen, Alicia, Londen) They helped with even the oddest of requests - nothing was too much for them. The room was very comfortable and tastefully furnished and everything worked. This hotel is excellent value for money!

Breakfast was good but a little more variety would have been good after stay ing there for one week although I actually enjoyed the kimchi I had each morning.

I liked the vintage style and the Asian antique style furniture and artwork. There was a jacuzzi in our room, which was a big bonus. The staff can speak multiple languages, which was helpful for us as English speakers. They also offered luggage storage on our last day. Good location, not far from the Main Station. Close to Dihua St and walking distance to the river and park. Walkable to night markets. Much better value than the first place we stayed for the same price.

During our entire stay, the staff were all very pleasant and very helpful. We were fortunate to be given a nice room on a high floor. Room was well fitted out in a traditional style with good quality, although a little dated, There was even a jacuzzi in the bathroom! A full buffet breakfast but mainly cater for local taste was served in their restaurant in the adjacent block. Location was very convenient, not only for the Taipei main station & the Airport MRT but also a night market and a number of restaurants. Their shuttle bus was very useful We enjoyed it so much we actually rebooked the exact same room for our next stopover in Taipei

The rooms and furniture are of good quality but looking a little tired. Could do with a bit of a makeover. More international food included in the breakfast buffet will be nice.
