Babalao bungalows is the perfect place to stay in Nungwi! Max the owner is the best host I’ve ever stayed with. He is so helpful with advice on where to eat and what to do and answered any questions we had about the island. All of the staff are excellent. The location couldn’t be closer with the beach just around the corner. Lovely breakfast and food at the pool bar, great facilities, such good value for money and I would recommend this as the perfect place to stay for families, couples or groups of friends! Thanks Max and Co for an amazing stay in Zanzibar!

Nothing it was all perfect!

I enjoyed my staying here, it felt very peaceful. Alp was very nice, helpful and attentive. The staff were great too. And I lived their kitchen, especially the prawn carry. The location is perfect, 2 minutes to the beach, close by to many restaurants and shops. I loved the umlimited time breakfast and the offer to shower if we are leaving late, and many small détails that make the difference

The stay at Babalao was amazing! Since we arrived Alp welcomed us and gave all the information about the place and surroundings. We also met Yahya, another lovely manager from the place that was on every detail as well. He helped me with some medicine I needed and made sure we had a great stay. The food from the restaurant was delicious🤤 10/10. Breakfast was a different plate every day (I would personally prefer more like a buffet where you can choose but overall was good). They offer tea, coffee and water for free whenever you want through out the day. Pool, music, board games and nice environment to chill and enjoy your holiday. Everything you need is there

Beautiful. Loved everything about this place. Breakfast was awesome with freshly made eggs, and coffee and fresh tropical fruits. It is well decorated. Conveniently located in the shopping center with many restaurants within walking distance. Beach front. With a beautiful pool. The owner checked on us to make sure we were enjoying. Pool was open 24 hrs. We brought drinks from outside and drunk by the pool.

We were presented with a bill of a dinner we didn’t eat. So careful what you pay for.

Max was really efficient and friendly. We arrived much earlier than official checking in time and Max provided us with complimentary breakfast and the room was ready an hour earlier. We stayed only for one night as we were just passing by Nungwi, but I would recommend Babalao Bungalows. The breakfast was great, the staff friendly and accommodating, there is a lot of outdoor relaxation areas that were plus. The only thing I would suggest would be to add some hangers in the room but otherwise everything was clean and comfortable. Premises are situated walking distance from the beach (about 10-15 min pole pole walk)

Babalao is locating in the north side of heavenly beautiful Zanzibar Island. Besides from their facilities, there are a lot of attractions, restaurants and shopping locations in walking distance. We've spent 8 fully nights and 9 days there and it was one of a kind experience in our lives. Thanks to Yahya, hotel's manager and our tour guide Salim, we've reached out to every attractions that we've wanted, like snorkeling with dolphins, skydiving, trying fresh fruits on spice farms and enjoying beautiful sunsets. In Babalao, you have a chance to start a day with delicious exotic fruits and local coffee, then ate different meals everyday. Everyone is kind and helpful, like you're not a customer but a really dearly guest in their home. I think it's really important when you've visited first time somewhere, really far away from home. If I've talk about Babalao, BBQ nights should definitely be in the discussion. Well, back in Turkey, we've used to BBQ's but BBQ with seafood is definitely something else, especially if they are local fishes and almost directly coming from the sea. Also, you may want to try their special cocktail and would definitely lose yourself to dance with other guests with live local music. When we were there, Afrobukuu (@afrobukuu), local group was playing and we've had a great taste of music, wildly fun dance and lots of laugh. Additionally, I'd like to pay your attention to a beautiful paintings around the wall of Babalao Bungalows. Honestly, there were nothing that we didn't like.

What a gem of a place Babalao Bungalows is! I recently spent a week there, and I can't recommend it enough. This beautiful retreat combines comfort with a sense of adventure. From my arrival, I was immediately taken by the elegance of the bungalows. Each one has an authentic charm with wooden accents and vibrant local art. The rooms are spacious, clean, and offer nice terrace —perfect for sipping coffee as the sun rises. The location is ideal for those wanting to explore. It's just a short walk to nearby shops and local markets, where I found handcrafted souvenirs and enjoyed the lively atmosphere. The beaches nearby are stunning, with powdery white sand and crystal-clear waters, making it easy to spend hours sunbathing or swimming. One of the standout features of my stay was the staff. They were incredibly welcoming and attentive, always ready with a smile and helpful tips. They organized a fantastic sunset dhow cruise for us, a must-do for anyone visiting, complete with breathtaking views and a chance to spot dolphins! The dining experience at Babalao was another highlight. Every meal felt like a celebration of local flavors, with an emphasis on fresh ingredients. The seafood was particularly outstanding, caught daily and prepared to perfection. I especially loved the Swahili curry—it was a flavor explosion! What sets Babalao apart is its relaxed atmosphere. There’s a wonderful balance between tranquility and the opportunity for fun and adventure. Yoga classes are offered near by, and it’s a great way to start the day surrounded by nature. In summary, Babalao Bungalows is not just a place to stay; it's a haven that nourishes both body and spirit. If you're seeking an enchanting escape filled with natural beauty, rich culture, and heartfelt hospitality, look no further. I left feeling recharged and already planning my next visit!

I had an absolutely wonderful stay! The location is perfect, just a stone’s throw away from the beach, which made it super convenient. The breakfast was delicious with plenty of variety, and all the other food options were equally impressive. The rooms were spotless, and I appreciated the attention to cleanliness. Max, the owner, is incredibly friendly and helpful, which really enhanced my experience. The rest of the staff were equally welcoming and made me feel right at home. I loved every moment of my stay and would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a relaxing getaway!

I LOVE this place! A beautifully curated space that welcomes you immediately. Max was beyond awesome and made us feel at home in every minute. He attended to every detail including the right music and and a special BBQ event with drumming, dancing, and a wild surprise! They have games and a dart board too! Restaurant open all day, great food, and the included breakfast offered something different each day which is much appreciated. The rooms were simple and sufficient with cool AC and soooo quiet!! The pool is perfect with shaded area at all times. Genius design! To cut down on plastic they offer a water station to refill your bottles at no cost any time. Also coffee and tea are available all day at no cost. Oh, and I also got the most amazing massage on site and they will reserve any tour you can think of which makes life so easy. Seriously, look no further. Babalao will not disappoint, it will delight!

Amazing breakfast, friendly and happy staff and the owner who always thought with us to provide the best experience! Relaxed vibe, closeby the beach, fun games to play with friends, the massages.

Beds were a bit hard and the shower smelled a bit but definitely nothing serious the rest was all excellent and great!
