The location is perfect! Very close to the beach! And we arrived earlier and they kindly allowed us to do that. Fresh fruit is also available for the guests.

The Toilet didn’t look as expected, but it was fine to use. Just not as in the picture of the booking

Overall we had a great stay thanks to the hospitality of Mohammed. His caring, friendly nature made all the difference and nothing we asked was ever too much. The location is great, only a short walk away from the beach!

The owners usually linger about all day and seemed rather unfriendly so much so that the “hello” on our last day surprised us. Pictures are either very old or very well edited. We were VERY satisfied with our stay but the pictures do paint a better picture. There is building works right opposite which can start at 8am and finish late. Okay if you are out and about all day but unrelaxing during the day or even at breakfast.

I stayed at Papaya nearly 3 weeks and I couldn’t ask for a better stay. I was solo travelling with my daughter. Everybody was so welcoming with me, the owners and the staff. Big shout out to Mohammed ❤️and Ali ❤️that helped me during all my stay with my daughter and my needs. Mohammed became my daughter’s favourite person for the entire stay. The whole team is really amazing ❤️ Breakfast in the morning (served between 8 and 10) is so nice (fresh fruits, coffee and tea, crepes, pancakes, eggs,…), the hotel is literally 5 minutes walking to the beach, the wifi works really good. Rooms are very spacious, and they have all the needs (hot water, hand soap, towel…). Whenever you need a little refresh the team is there to clean up your room in 20 minutes. I had a fantastic stay at Papaya Guest House with two friends for a week, and we loved every bit of it. The location is unbeatable — just a stone's throw from the beach and a short stroll to local shops, restaurants, bars, and ATM. Our room, though basic, had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. The included breakfast was delicious and provided a hearty start to our days of adventure. We also indulged in some other dishes from the menu, which were equally delightful.The staff at Papaya Guest House were exceptional; they were incredibly helpful and made us feel completely at home throughout our stay. Their hospitality truly added to the overall experience.Considering the quality of stay, Papaya Guest House offers excellent value for money. Without a doubt, we'll be returning here for our next trip. Highly recommended!

All the people in Zanzibar are so good and friendly but the staff in Papaya…they are something different. They are the most friendly and calm people you’ll ever met and you must be sure that your stay here will be 100% better than any other place. You will get delicious fruits for breakfast every single morning and as you wait for the breakfast you can enjoy the music they listen while preparing the food. The beach is just 2 minutes away and you can find many places to have lunch or dinner around. There’s not mosquitoes in the rooms and if there’s, be sure that Mohamed will help you with that. The room was very clean and spacious. The guest house is filled with trees which keeps it quite cool and it has very relaxing hammocks. The breakfast is tasty and different everyday, but always served with a plate of fresh fruit right from the garden. The location is perfect as it is extremely close to the beach and surrounding restaurants and the main beach activities. We really enjoyed chatting with the hosts as well as the Masai that watches the property. We had a very fun evening playing Uno as well!

We stayed in Nungwi/Zanzibar in a group for 2 weeks. The Papaya Guest House near the breathtaking beach offers a comfortable and inviting stay for guests. The staff (Mohammad and Ali) were excellent in all aspects! Having breakfast every morning with fresh fruit (+eggs, donuts/pancakes etc) was a real luxury! In terms of services, we had a massage from Tatu that we enjoyed a lot The accommodation is lose to beaches, restaurants, taxi stops and many more Excellent value for money

What can be improved is the mattresses which are a bit small and not very comfortable

The staff is very friendly. They help you with everything. Also the cleaning ladies are great. When you ask them, they will clean your room, every second day. It’s like 3 minutes from the beach. Very beautiful beach! Also ATM and restaurants, bar and clubs right around the corner. The room is very big.

There are some animals in the room, because the door has a gap on the ground, where they can crawl under it.

Staff were very friendly. Rooms were clean and beds were comfortable. Everything we needed for this stay. Very close to the beach, great breakfast. The terrace and outdoor areas were also lovely.

WiFi wasn’t working in the bedrooms. Had mosquito net but unfortunately had holes in which meant mosquitoes could enter. Very easy things to fix and we still had a great time.
