We visited Zanzibar for the first time and thanks to the hotel Maisha we experienced unforgettable holidays. We were very impressed by the delicious breakfast, it was something that we were looking forward to every day. We appreciate that our room was perfectly clean during our whole stay. At the hotel, there are two pools surrounded by beautiful landmarks. And the most important thing, the stuff was very helpful and attentive. We really felt at home here.

Although the hotel is amazing, the beach nearby is dirty and you have to walk like 20 minutes in order to find better place. However, hotel offers transport by tuk-tuk (for 3 $), so you can save up you time and energy :)

The property is set within beautiful surroundings and in close proximity to a stunning beach with a beach restaurant. The villas are private and relaxing. The food was incredible, we ate at the beach restaurant every day, and the staff were exceptional. Special shout out to Eva who taught us some Swahili and always welcomed us with a smile. They all made our stay so much more enjoyable.

Rooms were really perfect. Good size, AC and Fan wasnt loud at all and bed was really comfortable Breakwast was very tasty and they always had different choices sometimes buffet and other days from the menu. Aluna also has a good restaurant direclty at the beach which is perfect for watching the sunset and the food was also very good.

The Beach side near Aluna isnt so beautiful, we saw some plastic at the beach which was really sad. If you walk further to the other side there are some better places to swim at the beach.

Staying at Aluna Nungwi was the best start to our honeymoon we could have possibly hoped for. We loved the two different pools, the pool side and beach side restaurant and the excellently organised excursions. The rooms are so comfortable and clean. As vegans we were worried about what food would be available to us but Aluna could not have been more accodomating, providing serveal different options for lunch and dinner and a whole vegan breakfast menu, all of which have been outstanding! All of the bar, restaurant and reception staff have been so kind, happy and caring, especially Neema, Fatma, Luka and Joy. Chimsi the manager of the awesome Aluna beach bar, brings fun loving energy to the place and was the life and soul of the fantastic Full Moon Party. We will definitely recommend this hotel to our friends looking to holiday in Zanzibar!

I can't think of anything at all that we didn't like or that could be improved.

The pools were great, the beachfront restaurant was pleasant with good food options. The staff were friendly and welcoming. The rooms were clean and a turn down service was provided.

Breakfast needn’t have been included. The beachfront restaurant was a short walk from the hotel and pools which wasn’t made clear in the hotel description. The hotel classes itself as a boutique hotel but lacked the luxuries e.g. no gowns or slippers, shower caps etc. Only 1 bottle of drinking water was provided per stay for teas, coffees and to clean your teeth. Additional bottled water was charged at 2USD, which in a country where you are advised not to use tap water to clean your teeth is somewhat strange.

We really enjoyed our stay here, we had the jacuzzi hot tub room for 3 nights and it was brilliant. The hotel paths and around the pools is beautiful with all plants and trees. Our room was comfortable and had everything we needed, including drinking water, a kettle and tea, shampoo and conditioner, beach towels, air con, mosquito net etc. The hot tub was so special and we are really pleased we upgraded to this for our honeymoon, it made it extra special. We enjoyed the breakfast and had a nice dinner at the beach one evening - a lot of the menu is fish/seafood. We also ate at a restaurant nearby which we enjoyed plus others in Nungwi. The reception staff were friendly and helped us book a great taxi for a really reasonable price to the airport and also organised the buggy excursion which was super. The tuktuk driver is a legend, he took us back and forth to nungwi lots of times for $3 each day, this service was fantastic and meant we really enjoyed our stay as we had the best of both worlds popping into town whenever we wanted just by messaging him on WhatsApp. On our final morning we walked from Aluna beach into Nungwi at low tide which was nice to do before it got too hot and we left our bags at the hotel which was super handy.

Really nice hotel located at the very tip of Nungwi. Small as well with two pools and no more than around 16 rooms or so. This means the hotel is never crowded or noisy. Staff are very polite and attentive. They have their own restaurant located on the beach which is included with the half board, with small supplements for more premium food. The food itself is really great and the seafood they serve is fantastic. Drinks are reasonably priced as well. Breakfast sometimes is a choice from a menu and sometimes a buffet style and its nice for the change. Hotel is a very short walk to the beach as well

Wifi could have been slightly stronger but I am really nitpicking here.

The bungalows and rooms are beautifully designed, providing a cozy yet luxurious experience. The pool area, surrounded by lush greenery, feels like a hidden oasis – the perfect spot to relax and recharge. We also indulged in the massages offered here, and they were absolutely divine—just what we needed to feel completely refreshed and rejuvenated. What truly sets Maisha apart, though, is the incredible staff. Their kindness, warmth, and attention to detail made our stay unforgettable. They were always welcoming and ready to assist with anything we needed. If you're looking for a serene retreat in Nungwi, Maisha Hotel is the perfect choice. We can't recommend it enough!

I enjoyed my stay in Maisha Nungwi very much. The whole hotel is clean and offers a nice shadow in the daily heat. I especially enjoyed in two lovely pools beside hotel, where I had a relaxing time. I loved the location as well. The hotel is located near the beach in Nungwi, but it's still quiet and peaceful. The breakfast was delicious and I enjoyed it very much. The food at the beach bar (lunch and dinner) offers more variety of food than the one at the pool. The most amazing thing about Maisha is their staff. Because of them Maisha trully my home away from home. I hope the management will pass along my feedback to all. I am beyond grateful for their kindness and honest smile they gave me every day. I would like to thank them all. Especially to: Muba at the reception for his devotion and ability to listen, Brenda for the best massage (girl with magic hands and the biggest heart), Abu, Eva and Radjab at pool/beach bar. I urge you (I know you already are!) to be socially responsible and take for the cats, who come to beach/pool bar. Feed them, take care of them and show them love. Ignore some rare complaints of the guests. They are living creatures and they need you.❤️

Beautiful hotel with two swimming pools, lots of plants which makes you feel that you are in the jungle. Close to the beach (but not the main area). Rooms are sprayed from mosquitoes every evening). Friendly helpful staff.

Maybe most of the hotels in Nungwi serve instant coffee because it’s cheaper but it’s 2025 now and good real coffee is a very big thing everywhere. Also I didn’t see any problems to find good coffee around so it’s definitely possible. There is nothing worse when breakfast is included but you have to pay extra for a proper coffee. (2$ coffee wasn’t the best, so if you are charging extra make sure it taste good). The same with complimentary water, it cost nothing to top up every morning. Just put hotel price up few dollars a night and do not bother guests with small things like extra coffee or water.
