I loved my room and high bed, it was very romantic. Fast wifi worked well all around the hotel. Hotel decorations, traditional lamps, doors, paintings, wardrobes etc were really unique, stunning. The hotel was colorful and charming inside. Attention to detail. Mosquito net around bed. Great location, easy to walk around the entire old town, just a 2-minute walk to the ferry terminal and a few more minutes to the beach. Cute bathrobes in my room. Restaurant at the main floor.

Maybe a bit too expensive for what you get. I mean it's nice but there's no swimming pool, no rooftop terrace with the view etc. No lift (traditional old building) so you have to climb up the stairs. I was disappointed about breakfast. There's a few meals you can choose from and I ordered a fresh fruit plater (told htem even before my check in) and tea but there was also supposed to be a breakfast buffet with fruit and other snacks as well. I did not see any buffet and just got a small fruit bowl and a cup of tea. Not big enough for a breakfast at expensive 4* hotel in my opinion.

Had a wonderful stay at the Zanzibar Palace Hotel. It is a converted historic building. The room was large, clean, and had great air conditioning (which we needed as we were not used to such warm/humid weather). Daniela kept many of the historic elements of the building (wait until you see the locks on the doors…we loved it). They had made to order breakfast (along with cereal, yogurt, fruit, etc.). The staff were all very friendly, helpful and attentive (Iddi, Lulu, Elizabeth, Roderick, and Jamila). The hotel organized a walking tour of Stone Town and the guide, Khasim, was very friendly, thorough and knowledgeable. Everything in Stone Town is close to the hotel. We enjoyed walking along the water in the evenings as there was so much going on. Great stay.

I had an amazing stay at this charming hotel in the heart of Stonetown, Zanzibar. The location couldn't have been better—perfectly situated to explore the rich history and vibrant culture of the area. The building itself is full of character and steeped in history, adding a unique touch to the experience. The staff were exceptional—warm, welcoming, and always ready to assist. Breakfast was a real highlight, especially the freshly squeezed juices, which were absolutely delicious. I highly recommend staying here for anyone visiting Zanzibar; it's an unforgettable experience!

The spa experience offered in the hotel was extremely convenient and was good (especially after a safari!), but would need a tweak to up level to great.

Staff were amazing!! Great hospitality and willing to give great information on local activities, foods, etc. The location is fantastic, literally a two minute walk to the waterfront. The food was very good. Local options available on site and it was delicious!

The Sultana room has a shower/tub in the open room and the toilet is behind a small wall. You’re fairly exposed to your “roommate” while using these facilities, may not be fantastic for private individuals.

The atmosphere of the hotel makes you think of a dreamy fairy land. The bathrooms are just the most beautiful ones I've ever seen. The beds of kings and queens. Good breakfast and well positioned in the old town

When I initially booked, I remembered reading that there was a free shuttle to the airport. Later that seems to have been edited to a paid shuttle. But we went with a local driver in the end for only 10 dollars, instead of 25 dollars offered by the hotel.

Rare jewel as its both a modern and at the same time a “old” hotel with very unique beds/dores/bath/furnitures. We had the wedding suite and wow! The roof top of open air bath and sun beds were something we have never seen before. There is no elevator and the stairs are clearly old and handmade (uneven distances between steps), but somehow does that make the experience authentic sultan style complete along with the placement in the marrow old streets of Stonetone.

We stayed at the Zanzibar Palace hotel for 4 nights. This boutique hotel has 9 rooms, each unique with decor that truly makes you feel like you are in Zanzibar. The location is in the heart of Stonetown and easy walking distance to the waterfront. The staff was very helpful and even arranged tours for us. Breakfasts were very good!

This is a historic building, so do know there is no elevator. That said, the staff was very helpful with luggage.

Lovely quirky hotel in the heart of stone town. The bed was very comfortable and large (not always the case on Zanzibar!) and the room was full of historical touches and decoration. It was our honeymoon and the staff kindly upgraded us to the honeymoon suite which had an incredible outdoor bathroom, would recommend!

It is worth pointing out there is no lift but the staff are very helpful with your bags, but it might be an issue if you yourself have mobility issues.

I travel a lot and stay in many beautiful places but the Zanzibar Palace hotel is exceptional on every level. The rooms are gorgeous (I stayed in Sultana with a balcony and big bathtub), the staff are incredibly helpful, the food is delicious (I absolutely adored the passion and avocado juice and drank a lot of it!). The location is also exceptional…in the heart of Stone Town just 5 mins walk from the sea and 30 mins drive from the airport. Normally when I go to places again I like to try somewhere different but I will 100% be returning to this place! Thank you to Daniela and her brilliant team 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
