We loved the location and the view from the room. The property is situation on a pretty steep hillside so if you have a hard time with stairs you may prefer something more on the beach level. For us it was a fun adventure to take the private pathway and stairs over to the gorgeous beaches, bars and restaurants just adjacent. At night you could still see all the beach happenings from the room balcony. Gorgeous views from the restaurant and pool also.

We spent four nights at Baan Kratering. It has spectacular views across the bay which also picks up an evening breeze. Yes there are many uneven stairs, the price you pay for the view. Not suitable for families or others with mobility/age issues. This meant the demographic was also of our kind with the resort being lovely and quiet. There is a pathway near the pool down to the waters edge which has great rock pooling. If you're after a beach swim it is under 5min walk at other end of resort down to a sandy beach. Less then 2 minutes leads you to a coffee house with amazing views. Do what we did, walk down to the beach and stop for a drink at each resort bar, make way to town for dinner, then catch a taxi back to resort or, can be walked, not far at all, we did walk back and forth alot. Can also quickly walk to national park for an adventurous hike. Arrange tours with resort. 1000baht got us a taxi for all day use. We then used it to visit turtles, elephants etc.

The breakfast was great, but would recommend eating dinner in town.

The setting is so beautiful! Set on a hillside among huge trees. The swimming pool is small but gorgeous and stays cool because of the trees. Probably the most beautiful setting for a swimming pool I've ever experienced- overlooking the ocean. The staff were friendly and helpful. We had a small leak in our roof so they upgraded us and needed up with the most beautiful view of the beach. It was off season when we stayed and very good value for money. There weren't many people staying which made it quiet and relaxed. Would like to return someday.

You need to be mobile as there are steps to the beach and all around the resort. The breakfast was very basic but adequate. There was some renovating happening while we were there but that is just part of travelling in the off season. You can hear road noise from some rooms but it didn't bother us.

The location was really lovely. It felt like we were in tree houses above the sea. Only disappointment was that we had the cabins next to the pool so didn’t feel so private - the cabins further to the right are the ones to request, with amazing views over the sea. Easy 5min walk to an amazing beach with lots of choices of restaurants. You can eat in the hotel but the food looked fairly basic and we wanted to go out and explore Khao Lak. Definitley very good value for money. We didn’t really see any of the staff (you don’t need to) but reception were very friendly and check in was easy. It says no parking available but they let us leave our car in the drop off area and we happily parked there for three days. You. An also leave your car at the side of the road. The ‘no parking’ nearly stopped me booking - so don’t let it. If you have a car, make sure you spend a day at Memories Beach.

The location of the hotel is excellent, 5 minutes drive from the center, the view of the sea is breathtaking with the stones on the beach, there is a jungle and nature atmosphere from all the trees, the cabin is comfortable and suitable for couples, balcony with sea view. Breakfast is rich and varied and very tasty. It was excellent!

The pillows were too thick, but I'm sure if we had asked they would have changed them. Towels were not changed during the daily room cleaning.

The most incredible location/setting. We arrived here after the craziness of Bangkok and it felt like paradise. Khao Lak can feel a bit super-touristy but this place, right on the edge, by the national park was a slice of calm, beauty and privacy. Each hut feels so private and peaceful and the trees and ocean surrounding are very very special. We struggled to leave this special place!

I personally don’t enjoy a firm mattress and this was quite firm! The restaurants/communal places felt quite old fashioned, not much atmosphere, but this could be a good thing if you want a calm place to be.

Nice bungalow with a beautiful sea view terrace. Via a staircase you can walk to the beach below (which is overlooked by several resorts and can therefore be quite crowded), or by hiring a motorbike visit many other beaches. For example a nice tour to Ko Kho Khao with a funny "long tail boat ferry" to cross of the river that separates the island from the mainland

It's not a big problem, but personally I don't like sleeping with air conditioning (at least not in December), but blankets are too heavy if you don't use it

This hotel was exactly what we were looking for, my partner and I loved the big ocean view. The trees here grow on their own, making it feel more wild and real compared to other hotels in Khao Lak where everything is trimmed and neat. The room was spacious and clean and the staff was friendly. All of this for a great price! Also, there are lots of sweet cats on the property😻 I would definitely recommend this place, and come back here myself one day.

It was a bit far to get to town (where most restaurants are), but we rented scooters for the week, so that was not a big problem for us. There are lots of steps, but I needed that exercise after eating all that delicious Thai food.

The resort is set in beautiful gardens and natural forest. The infinity pool was lovely nice cool water for a change. The rooms were comfortable with a nice big balcony.

This is just information for people who find walking up stairs a challenge there is a lot. Also you can not swim at the beach near the resort because of the rocks. But it’s only a 15 minute walk to other beaches.

We loved the jungle environment and the stunning water views from our Bungalow! Yes it is a bit out of the main resort areas- but if you are craving the authentic retreat in amongst lush greenery then this place is spot on. We were very comfortable in our Bungalow and the walk down to the beach is fine...its all very accessible if you're happy to climb a few steps!

I would suggest they have some more desert options on their menu or fruit shakes/smoothies. Another easy option would have a small icecream chest, and also a water refill station or larger 1L water bottles for sale. Just some basics on offer because it is located a bit further out. These are all suggestions for improvement. In response to some people's comments- the lighting in our Bungalow was fine, and you can comfortably access the beach until 6.30pm without a head torch.
