The room was spacious, elegantly designed and had a wonderful view out to sea (we were in a Grand Deluxe close to reception, so the relative height at the top of a hill offered a great vantage point). Breakfast was outstanding with tonnes of vegetarian (and gluten-free) options, which was wonderful as so many Thai breakfasts tend to be so meat-heavy - this was a welcome break. The staff were courteous and friendly without exception, and the a/c in the room managed to keep the room cool despite the humidity outside. Visiting in low season was superb value, and honestly with just a few minutes of rain on one of our three day stay, a June visit is really a no-brainer, especially as nearby Khaolak is so quiet and crowd-free during this time. Walking around the resort is a pleasure - if you're lazy and don't consider walking in lush vegetation to be enjoyable, then go stay somewhere flat.

The spa prices are, typical of a resort like this, insanely expensive - especially when you can go anywhere in the neighbouring village and get an excellent massage for a fifth of the price. No frills, but you're not paying for the chandeliers!

What a perfect choice for us! Moracea Hotel exceeded our expectations.. the photos don’t do justice to how beautiful is the entire place. It has the most beautiful beach, with greenery, trees, flowers everywhere, a true tropical jungle! We didn’t have problems with mosquitos, if you wonder, but we saw some monitor lizards visitors, scary but harmless! The natural scenery was so perfect, we didn't feel we need to explore other beaches. The staff here takes very good care of the place and of the surroundings! We got a really nice, comfy and big room with sea view (I’m not sure if all of them are like this because we saw a map with many layouts and housing styles). There were many swimming pools, but we enjoyed more the sea. The breakfast buffet was nice, with a good variety of products and the coffee was surprisingly good for a hotel coffee. Pretty close to the city center, some good restaurants were on the main road, at a short distance (10 minute walk). Also, Khao Lak is the perfect location for day trips to National Parks - Similan Islands, Surin Islands, Khao Sok.

Hotel clients "reserved" sunbeds by letting a towel on them, even if they don''t come at all or they come later. So this caused a shortage of sunbeds every day. The hotel staff tried to put posters around the beach / pool locations to politely stop clients to "reserve" sunbeds.. but unfortunately people kept doing that. For example, we stayed at the breakfast spot for a little longer and after 9:30 AM there were no sunbeds left.

We were travelling independently in Thailand and wanted a comfortable stayover at a resort for a few nights. We booked a superior double room, which was located in the block at the higher end of the site. The room was excellent and bed very comfortable. The Moracea is the largest resort along this stretch of coast and is built over the hillside so that everything is well spread out. We had a nice veranda to sit out in the evening and watch the sun go down. The beach is lovely, plenty of sand even at high tide and it felt safe swimming. The pools, bars and facilities were all very good, plentiful breakfast choices, staff all polite helpful and cheerful. The local shops and restaurants along the main road start from only a ten minute walk away, lots of choice from cheap to medium prices. Taxis always available for transport back (100Bt) There is a bit of up and down hill and stair walking between beach and our room but it would only be a problem if you had significant mobility issues. Lots of local trips available. We did the Champagne boat trip across the bay, which was pricey but great.

Other guests bagging the recliners by the beach with their towels in the morning then not using them. There is not really enough of them. Breakfast was very busy, but we did choose the popular time for going. The strip of shops and restaurants nearby is not terribly exciting. However we went further afield to Bang Niang a few km up the coast (200 Bt taxi).where the streets there are packed with bars and restaurants and has a real vibe in the evening, especially when market is open too. The tsunami memorial museum is very basic and the entrance fee was daft, but it was surprisingly moving.

Large airy rooms with comfortable bedding, well maintained. The beach and facilities are quite nice, the resort is large without being too big so while it is not boutique by any means it doesn't feel too industrial. Good breakfast with plenty of options.

The restaurant is overpriced with average food. Although the resort boasts 4 bars, they close very early, like 07.00pm -could stay open for an hour or two more. Staff was not bad, but not particularly efficient nor friendly, rather indifferent.

Fantastic breakfast in the pavilion down by the sea. The whole resort is very nicely designed and it feels like you have a lot of privacy. Nice gardens and pools a bit hidden between bungalows and villas. Fabulous stretch of beach, even after a walk along the beach all the way to the Bang Niang inlet/river we liked the beach of Moracea best: nice and sandy, never crowded and with nice waves. There is a very nice bar at the beach. The resort is spread along a hillside, but this was not a big problem as every care was taken to make bungalows and rooms accessible and it was quick and easy to order a buggy if you didn't feel like walking. We travelled in the monsoon season, and we needed the buggy a couple of days as the main rain shower was after breakfast. It's a 10-minute walk to the Khao Lak village and there's restaurants even closer, which was nice as the hotel restaurant is rather pricy and gets easily boring. It is easy to organize tours by yourself, we went to an elephant camp by taxi, to the sea turtle conservatory and waterfalls by private car, and to the James-Bond Island (private car to the coast and hired a boat on the spot) at Phang Nga. There were no tours to the Similan Islands in monsoon season. The hotel has good airconditioning (not noisy or too cold) and the showers were hot and had excellent pressure (which is often a problem in Thailand). The staff was very friendly and helpful with every wish.

The rain was a bit boring as it kept raining 2 of the 4 days of our stay, and then there is not so much to do around. Of course this is not the hotels fault. However, the tour operator located in the lobby is not very helpful and has very limited (and pricy) tours on offer. But there is always a local taxi on the road just outside that can give you all the tourist information you need.

Beautiful resort with excellent facilities and beach access.

Hard to get a deck chair as people reserved them early in the morning even though they were not using them. Very frustrating.

Amazing accommodation, well-managed and operated resort. Pool-access room was excellent for hot weather. Happy Hour at different times at different bars really gave us joy, as well as early bird discounts for the spa and massage. Excellent location, a short walk to streets where good restaurants and cafes are found.

In general, staffs were not very friendly nor approachable. Rarely greeted us when we entered or exited the restaurant or bars (although we did), we had to physically approach them everytime in order to get some general service.

Lovely spa and good treatments at reasonable prices.

AC did not cool room properly. Pillows uncomfortable

The property was well maintained, my room was very spacious with separate shower, toilet and bathing facilities. The hotel is located within a 10-15 minute walk from Khao Lak centre with all of its dining, shopping and other options. This is fantastic as you have lots of choice just around the corner at the central hub for the area. The beach and grounds are very well maintained and there are good options for eating and drinking on site, right by the beach or room service.

Although the town, with all of it amenities, is a short walk 10-15 minute walk away… sometimes you just need transport. The hotel would do well for its guest if they had a free shuttle service in and out of town perhaps 3/4 times a day. This would be extremely convenient and I would upgrade my location score up to 10, instead of an 8 or 9.

We stayed at the villa with a pool and it was a nice and secluded place with lots of privacy.

The hotel is under rennovation so not all the bars and restaurants were open as we expected. Wish some members of the staff were nicer.
