If you have hostel living experience this is definitely more than pleasant - Room and beds are clean - staff were very sincere and forthcoming - bathing facilities and toilets are very clean - not much noises and disturbance though it’s walking distance to one of the central train stations - pretty cooling room too especially in Bangkok - clean body and face towels provided as well!

It's run by a couple who live there. They have the flat on the first floor, the ground floor is the reception and such kitchen as there is, the second floor is private rooms and the top, third floor is a dorm room. The place was had just opened when I stayed. Steve was very accommodating. Every other day there was a new piece of equipment, like a mini-fridge or a kettle, on the top floor. I guess just because it was new place and they were still buying the equipment, but it felt like he was bringing them for me 😂. He brought me an extra mattress because the standard Thai-style ones are hard. That one was for me and it wasn't because I asked him to. So thanks for that 😁. I had a bed with a window and though it was not much space, there was a view over trees and over the city, which must be rare in central Bangkok unless you are in a tower. It felt like a cocoon you could live in for a while. Don't know if I'd feel the same if I had one of the beds without a view over trees. The terrace was not perfect, but having a little outside space accessible was the difference between being comfortable for a couple of days or for a week. The location is 50/50. On the one hand, 15 minutes walk away, you have Phrom Phong with EmQuartier, a street food restaurant, bars, all the city things for internationals in Bangkok. On the other hand, that's 15 minutes walk before you get to anything. In the vicinity you have a weed shop, a 7-11 and expensive, mostly Japanese, restaurants (apparently this is an expensive area where lots of internationals have flats and that's what they like). The pizza shop you see on street view has closed down. This place is actually great if you want to live minimally, if you don't need space around you, don't need a social environment, happy to eat out at the time you happen to be out.

Lack of kitchen. There is a kettle, microwave and fridge on the ground floor. If I recall correctly, there's no fridge, though there is a mini-fridge upstairs. You may as well do your microwaving up there. The heat, the three flights of stairs, and the walk to the metro don't sound like much but, with the lack of kitchen, they meant that my experience of staying here was that if I did not make myself eat while I was out during the day, or on the way home at the metro, then my evening meal would be something from 7-11 microwaved (which is a bit of a waste of coming to Bangkok!) Lack of changing areas for the showers, which exit onto the communal terrace. The communal space is: the room downstairs with reception - it's a fair size but nobody uses it as it is inconvenient; and the terrace, which is hot. I ended up using the terrace, and going elsewhere or into the air-conditioned dorm room when it got hot. Though the staff were very nice, so nice that I feel bad saying this, but there was a bit of a weird thoughtless attitude to running a hostel, as if they were parents rather than people I was paying for a service. A couple of things really detracted from the stay. One is that after kindly agreeing to put my washing on (because I was going out and the machine was busy as usual), the staff put it into dry without asking me. Being charged for a service that you didn't ask for is one thing but, for some reason, they thought it OK to hot dry all of my clothes for 90 minutes without asking - I brought loose clothes as I was going to a hot country and now almost al the T-shirts (and socks) I had with my on my travels had shrunk and were uncomfortably tight, with half of the T-shirts peeling. Who does that? How is it not common sense to ask permission when dealing with a customer's possessions? The other thing was that no-one was there when I arrived. Waited an hour and was later told someone had gone out 'to get breakfast'. Really?
