I had such a restful and lovely stay here during my entire time in Chiang Mai. The hotel is full of character and beautifully captures the charm of Thailand’s colonial era—every detail feels thoughtful and timeless. The owner was incredibly kind and helpful. One night, I accidentally left my phone in a Grab taxi, and thanks to their amazing support, I was able to get it back the very next morning. And the occasional visits from the hotel’s adorable cats made the experience even more heartwarming. Would absolutely stay here again!

Guests checking in late at night can’t enter through the restaurant entrance, so it would be helpful to have clear directions to the hotel entrance on Google to avoid confusion.

Rate Tri Yaan Na Ros Colonial House a gem that has a sense of tranquility that provides a delightful place to stay. Other guests refered to it as an oasis within the city. Just sitting on the balcony or around the pool was a peaceful time with the added bonus of being surrounded by the green space and wildlife day and night from croaking frogs to squirrels chasing each other through the trees and bushes. Ayla the host was amazing, she was so helful and kind and nothing was any trouble. Dont book any tours outside she can do it for you at better rates and with pick ups on the doorstep. This i highly recommend. Even if you want a tuk tuk ride she can arrange at a great rate. She was always there to meet and greet new guests or to ensure that any pickups arrived and were not late. I loved the weekly street market where the whole street closes and the stalls are set up with all sorts of wares and best of all so much wonderful steet food to suit all tastes, spoilt for choice. There is no provision for breakfast but the coffe shop just across the street offers great coffee choices and a breakfast if one does not want to walk far. The location is great as well, just a 10min walk to the waking street and old quarter. I highly recommend Rate Tri Yaan Na Ros Colonial House as a great place to stay at a reasonable cost. I certainly enjoyed my stays here and will definately stay here again if i am in Chiang Mai

The pool could do with a few repairs.

The staff were fantastic! The owner oil was so helpful and pleasant. She helped with taxis and gave us suggestions about tours and was always smiling and happy. The room was big and had a shower and bathtub. It was in a good location for getting around and right next to the Saturday walking street. We walked everywhere and did the whole block of Old Town! The pool was cool but it was refreshing to cool off and hardly anyone used it, which was great for us. Very traditional architecture with original windows, doors and furniture. We enjoyed this hotel because it is family owned and very traditional.

Because the hotel was so close to the walking street, it was noisy to sleep. We had to sleep with ear plugs because of the traffic noise. We were fine with that, once we figured it out. We thought we booked a suite with a hot tub, but what the owner meant was a bath tub, not what we North Americans consider a hot tub, just keep this in mind. The rooms are dark, but there are lots of lights and the dark room helped us sleep. This hotel is good for the value but not a luxury hotel, if that's what you are looking for.

Fabulous property shown off to its best by the furnishing and decor. What you see in the photos is what you get. Very atmospheric. The location is excellent both for the old city and the Saturday night market. The owner Oil was very friendly and very helpful.

I really really wanted to give this property an excellent score but it was let down by its old torn bedding and towels. Both duvet covers were obviously old and well used indeed so well worn that the material had holes in them both around the edges and L shape rips on sides. The towels were grey and had holes in them. I asked for the duvet covers to be changed unfortunately only one was done. Sadly the linen let the place down.

I loved the décor and the quirkiness of the place. The grounds were gorgeous with a lovely area around the pool. With all the beautiful plants it was an oasis of calmness. The staff were super helpful and responsive. Nothing seemed too much trouble. I stayed in a suite which was very spacious and had facilities to make a hot drink as well as a nice balcony.

It was a little walk away from the main tourist trail, although safe to walk around after dark. The front entrance shuts at 8pm after which you can only enter through the back road. My room was close to the main street which is quite noisy with traffic. I made a suggestion to the manager to swap the room around so the bed faced the garden rather than the street.

The owner and staff was very helpful and friendly. I loved the spacious room's charme. There were less mosquitoes than expected as the door is not fully shot. The pool was amazing to escape the heat.

I only changed accommodation because I wanted to stay a bit more central as a solo female traveler. I didn't like the entrance to the hotel at night cause it seems far off and dark but I think it's just me. I doubt Chiang Mai is really unsafe so I think this hotel has a good location for solo travelers if you want your peace and quiet.

The staff were very friendly and very helpful throughout the stay. Very welcoming and made the effort to remember our names, which made it personalized. Rooms were very comfortable and clean. Loved the decor, was right beside the pool and listening to the water was very nostalgic. It was right in town and close to the markets, in fact one was held right outside on the road on the Saturday! Very helpful with tours and ensuring we download an app for cheaper transport to places. Thank you so much for our stay!

The only downfall which wasn't anything at all to do with accommodation itself and cannot be helped, is that the bath was huge (bonus for me) however not so helpful for my 73 year old mum who couldn't get in or out, so couldn't attend to her personal hygiene so easily. Personally I loved it though!

It was a genuine old colonial house with a lot of care & thought put into it. The landscaping was lush, tropical & simply beautiful. The owner/proprietor was incredibly helpful assisting to get best priced massages & day trips. I forgot to bring a mob phone adapter & Oil actually drove me around at 8am to get one! It also has a homely feel & has an excellent location for night markets, food markets etc

Having to leave the place! It's a real gem & l'll be recommending it to friends.

Beautiful space, very quiet, great location

The most gorgeous hotel, I loved my stay here and felt very relaxed for my first 3 days in Thailand. The host was so welcoming and accommodating to my flight delays. She was very kind and I could tell she cared about how I was doing as a solo woman. The pool area is gorgeous like a jungle. Thank you!
