The gardens are amazing, so many different trees and flowers along the beautiful river. We enjoyed the views every time we walked from our room to the restaurant or to the beautiful pool. All staff really tried their utmost to make our stay fantastic, everybody was so kind. We searched for a long time to find a good hotel in Chiang Rai as all attractions seemed a bit scattered, but The Legend was really well positioned to visit the different locations. They have 2 onsite restaurants that were really great to have, amazing food (local dishes or Italian), nice live background singer and really nice that you could stay on site. We also trally enjoyed the massages and the swimming pool! We will definetly come back to The Legend!

The staff of Legend, and indeed the whole surrounding area need to be commended for recovering from the catastrophic trauma of the recent flooding of the nearby river which brought water levels of 5 metre swell which rendered the entire site under water. That they could return the hotel to the state it was in is a real miracle. The location is nicely set alongside the river and rooms are spacious with outside seating. We liked the comfortable beds and the mosquito screens (plenty of the little things around so be warned). Breakfast was good with an egg station and a variety of options to choose from. Evening dining options include an international buffet, Italian and traditional Thai, which is where we ate. Happy hour (two for one) runs from 4pm to 7pm. General Manager, Eric, came around chatting with guests and his easy manner seems to have rubbed off on the staff who were helpful and polite. If we returned to Chiang Rai we would definitely visit again.

I think it unfair to give any criticism of the hotel right now. There were obvious areas where more attention was required but that was being addressed on an ongoing basis and as money became available as the financial hit was substantial and insurance only covering 10% of the cost.

The Legend Resort in Chiang Rai has a friendly, relaxed vibe that makes it a great place to chill after busy days exploring this former Lanna capital and environs. Sitting on the Kok River, the Legend treated us to a lovely river tableau every morning as we ate our fill at the breakfast pavilion. While our particular room didn't have a view of the river, the room had plenty to offer. It was quite big, had a separate dressing area with open closet, sink and mirror, had a sizeable outdoor space (balcony) to enjoy, had a huge shower space/wet room with both western and traditional style Thai bathing facilities, and more. Getting from the Legend to the town center was an easy and fun 100 Thai baht ride by tuk tuk. Reasonable rides to downtown and local attractions were also readily available in air conditioned vehicles through local rideshare apps. Staff at the Legend were very friendly and helpful. Having suffered major flooding just two months earlier due to unusually heavy rains and a dam break upriver, we were deeply impressed with how much the folks at this hotel had done to bounce back and make our unfortunately short stay an enjoyable one.

Pool area had dead leaves left around the sun bed terrace continuously not a good look. Breakfast was ok, not great and some items were left empty and had to ask for refills. Also fruit and yoghurt section was very limited. Website advertises shuttle van to local spots such as night bazaar and walking street but that is not the case which was disappointing as had to get taxi everywhere. Really need to change their info on booking . com as it is misleading especially as a solo traveller.

High end resort in Chiang Rai. Lovely location on the river with beautiful grounds and incredible rooms. Very comfortable and luxurious. Feels far removed from the noisy city.

The frogs at night were exceedingly loud. The laundry service is terribly overpriced: they wanted 600 Baht for a small load, which we had done a 5’ walk away for 70. The food is similarly overpriced: dinner at the local rice & noodle shop 100m from the entrance was 70 baht/person, but it was 300-400/person at the resort restaurant.

As soon as you arrive at the resort, you feel the attention to detail and hospitality from all the staff. The grounds are very well looked after, with ponds, gardens, and fountains all around. The room was big and comfortable, and I loved the shower room! The reception staff were super friendly and helped us book a tour, even giving us suggestions of places to visit that we had never heard of and, honestly, were the best part of the tour. The pool was probably our favourite spot, with great views to the river and gardens and fireflies as soon as the sun goes down! We took a cooking class and it was one of the highlights of our stay. Again, the staff couldn't do enough to help us enjoy the session. We would definitely go back and recommend it to anyone going to Chiang Rai.

The food and drinks are a bit overpriced.

Erik and his team have done a remarkable job putting this resort back on its feet after the catastrophic floods of September 2024. Rooms are clean and comfortable the staff exceptionally helpful and friendly, the food is all of a high standard, breakfast is excellent. Although the resort is a little way from the centre of town, it's easy to book a Grab or Tuk tuk to get you there in 10mins.

The area around the swimming pool is still not fully refurbished after the flooding. The pool needs more regular cleaning.

An amazing stay! We have been traveling for 5 months. This resort far exceeded any other place we have stayed. The grounds are beautiful as well as the room. Having breakfast overlooking the river is wonderful! The Legend IS Eric the manager. He is friendly and helpful. He suggested two tours that were perfect for us. We got to enjoy river trips that weren't full day exhausting tours for us older folks. If you want a real treat in Chiang Rai book this hotel with breakfast and talk to Eric!

Everything was great.

They know how to serve breakfast!!! So many choices. The patio with the swing was excellent, as are the overall atmosphere of the grounds. The rooms are very spacious. The staff is overly kind and helpful.

This is our second visit to the hotel. We have never eaten in the restaurant as the prices are far too expensive for the kind of food being presented. Always eat off site. On the hot and stuffy days and evenings a ceiling fan or wall fan for the patio/balcony would be a nice added touch. Also, there was no electrical plug near the desk, so I had to move the desk to where there was one. Add more electrical outlets to the rooms when you renovate.

This hotel really was very competitively priced when I stayed. For around 10 pounds / 500 baht more than quite basic-looking hotels in Chiang Rai you can stay at this resort instead, which reminds me of hotels you see on the coast of South Thailand. Room was very large with all amenities you would need, pool was amazing - I had both a night and morning swim alone, and it’s super quiet. The hotel seems to do all it can to avoid mosquitos also - I’m not sure what else they could put in place considering its river location. Finally breakfast was really good with a lot cooked fresh, much better than a typical Thai hotel breakfast. Mike who was working also was super friendly. No more than 10 mins in a (very cheap) taxi from town - and staying by the river is far nicer than staying in the town anyway.

Considering the price really not much. Plug sockets in the room were sporadic and randomly placed but this is fine. Perhaps add in USB chargers to solve this issue.
