Amazing view, spacious room, beautiful little beach with snorkeling right here. And, yeah, seeing sunrise above the ocean the first thing I opened my eyes while still in bed will forever stay as one of the most beautiful travel memories

In the restaurant below the music in the daytime is too romantic and the same every day. Staying in the room you hear it and wish it to be more modern. Let's say, reggae instead of Michael Bolton would be fantastic

Each room is a very spacious bungalow with fabulous sea views with direct access to the beach. The restaurant cooked really fresh food at reasonable prices. Incredible value. We stayed six nights and would definitely go again. We saw little sharks (harmless) swimming in the waves and beautiful full moons. It’s a but away from any action but we hired bikes and enjoyed the peace.

No downside from our point of view.

Excellent and peaceful location! Be aware that it is pretty far from the main Sairee beach. I rented a scooter for all my stay - so it was convenient to drive to the city. The beach is also nice for some snorkeling or relaxing. The room was clean and comfortable. Amazing price/quality ratio if you’re looking for a peaceful stay.

There is no laundry at the place (even though it was mentioned here if I remember correctly).

Getting from the rooms to the restaurant was quite a mission it wasn't far but very steep

I am in AWE. My forever favorite place in Koh Tao. Have been coming to the island for years, but staying at Chabalay was the home I was searching for. The rooms were super spaces, decorated as how I wanted to have my house one day. You don't need more. I have gotten super sick during my trip causing me to stay in the room for five days. The staff was beyond helpfull, and delivered all I needed to the room through rain and after opening hours, without charging me a roomservice fee.

As expected, the bathroom was quite basic. So don't expect a hotel bathroom, but has truly all it needs.

This is a good place to stay if you want to snorkel in the morning before the crowds come. Bungalows are big and clean with good views of the bay. The restaurant is good and staff is friendly as usual in Thailand. The bay has a lot of coral and fish.

Be aware of a few things: It's locaed on a steep hill so there's a lot of climbing. Second, there are no restaurants open in the bay after 6 PM so you need to order dinner early or take a vehicle out to a restaurant in the evening. Third, the bungalows aren't air conditioned so it can get hot a night if the weather is hot.

We stayed for two weeks at Chabalay; first in one of the sea/mountain view bungalows, and later in a sea view, front one. We loved waking up with the sound of the waves, going down the stairs and having a swim early in the morning, before any taxi boat arrived.

It's hard to reach this place. You'll need either a motorbike or to pay 300 to 400 BAHT to reach the location. In case you go for the bike option, be aware its not an easy ride. I wouldn't recommend this road to any beginner. There's no grocery store or literally anything else than the Chabalay restaurant, which closes at around 8pm. Everything needs to be purchased in the next 7/11 which is at a 10 to 15 minutes ride.

- Location is secluded on a semi-private beach. -The rooms are perfectly nestled on the hillside, offering incredible views, privacy, and a getaway to enjoy peace/quiet/nature - Restaurant / owners: I ate here a fair share during my stay. everything is priced very well, the food is delicious, and the family who owns it is incredibly nice and attentive. - Accessibility to other areas: Koh Tao is a smaller island, making travel around it via Motorbike and walking. I did not trust myself via motorbike, so I would walk into town as exercise. Be forewarned, there are some steep hills so would only recommend for those seeking a bit of a challenge/exercise. it was nice that I was able to access town easily and have the privacy and seclusion that this stay offered. as others have noted, you don’t get all of the common western luxuries, but given the views, the peacefulness, and privacy this place was a perfect getaway to relax and I did not miss the common luxuries.

Nice huts above the bay. We had four of them, every cottage is different, with different view and orientation. Restaurant is good, with stunning view. Its very quite place far away from night life. So if you are party person this is not for you. 😁 Almost private beach.

Restaurant is only open (and the bar too) until 6,30 p.m. This is big limitation. Beach is some times crowded, maybe due the good diving spots...
