Our stay at the Sultan Mehmed Hotel was truly unforgettable. Visiting Istanbul had always been a dream of my mother’s, and thanks to this wonderful place, it became a reality in the most beautiful way. The hotel’s location was perfect — we were able to explore almost everything on foot, which made our experience even more immersive. The room was spotless, the beds incredibly comfortable, and we were even upgraded to separate beds free of charge, which added to our comfort. But what truly made our stay so special was the warmth and kindness of the staff. Their generosity, smiles, and sincere attention went far beyond what we expected. We stayed at the Sultan Mehmet Hotel – Istanbul for four nights in July, and honestly, the service was impeccable. Our room was large, spacious, and well air-conditioned. The bathroom was spotless, and the mattresses were very comfortable — we slept deeply every night thanks to them. The hotel owner and staff were incredibly warm and welcoming. They gave us great recommendations for non-touristy local restaurants and even arranged a taxi to the airport for us. One major highlight was the breakfast: a generous and delicious Turkish spread, including fresh fruit, toast, and eggs.

I stayed at this property 6 days. It is located in the Sultanhamet in the European side. The owners were very hospitable and very helpful. They do their best to make the guests happy. The room was great overlooking the street and there were traffic sounds but it didn't bother me too much. The balcony though not a walkout one was lovely to be able to open the window at times. Wonderful supply of very thoughtful items for the guest: shampoo, body wash, shoe polish and brush, sewing kit, sandals, and soap. The room was cold and when requested immediately they turned the heat on, but it didn't always work as well, but the weather was pleasant enough that it wasn't bothersome. The breakfast was plentiful and pleasant. The shower was very nice. The water pressure was excellent. The elevator was really helpful and good. The location is really convenient to Aya Sofia and other historical sites. The tram once you get the hang of it goes to all the important places without transfers. Even to the Dolmabahçe Palace and Galata Tr. oweGreat little restaurants nearby and wonderful fresh pomegranate and orange juices nearby on the street. The beach is really close and easily walkable. For my departure the owners were so kind and arranged a good taxi for me. They also had my clothes washed for me. I was grateful.

1. There was no housekeeping sadly. The first day there was an accident and I needed the sheets changed. I was interrogated and reprimanded and told that they don't change sheets daily. During my entire stay the sheets were not changed except the day I requested. The floors were never swept/mopped or vacuumed. They were also very economical with towels. 2. The breakfast could easily be alternated at least every other so it wouldn't get so monotonous when you stay so long. 3. No visitors were allowed and that was a bummer 4. The toilet was so stuffy and in a very tight space (see photo) 5. Tiny trash can only in the toilet 6. The water always backed up in the sink (see photo) 7. Mildew in the shower tiles (see photo)

The location was close to most of the attractions. The room was very comfortable and most of all Mr Mehmet was very helpful, he gave us great advice about all the excursions and answered all our questions. The staff were very friendly and always served us with a smile. The traditional turkish breakfast in the courtyard was delicious and enjoyable. Loved those beautiful cats.

This is a fantastic place to stay. Mehmed is a lovely guy, very friendly and helpful, eager to help and improve our stay, providing tips on good places to eat or places to go. The hotel is apparently new and quite small, around 8 rooms in total, but everything is well taken care of. There are no fancy amenities, just your room, lobby and breakfast area, which is just what you need when you want to visit a new city. The room is very comfortable and clean. Bathrooms sometimes are the downside of hotels but it was spotless, very clean and nice with marble surfaces everywhere, toilet and shower in perfect condition, and nice warm water working flawlessly. The location is great, just a couple hundred meters from the Blue Mosque and Hagia Sophia and the T1 tram line which can take you further to ferry and subway lines. It is definitely not the cheapest hotel you can find, but still very affordable and given the fantastic comfort and location you get, it is a no-brainer! Whenever I decide to come back to Istanbul, I'm most definitely staying there again!

To complain about this place is to be nitpicky and annoying. The worst I can think of is that the wifi sometimes jittered, but it was just really now and then.

Mehmet is a great owner/ host at the hotel. He was really welcoming, and readily available with information, advice and help. Hotel is in an excellent location less than 5 mins from the major sights in Sultanahmet and surrounded by restaurants. Very comfortable room, good shower and lovely breakfast. Highly recommended.

For being in a perfect location you can sometimes hear noise (and prays) from outside, but that’s something that comes with it.

The accommodation is in a very good location, attractions are close by. The place is very clean, nice and tidy and the staff is nice, friendly and helpful. We were satisfied with the breakfast. I absolutely recommend it.

No need to look further if you want to feel welcome and at home in this fascinating city!! Mehmet is such a wonderful, nice person and just the perfect host. He really made me feel at home in İstanbul and my journey definitely would not have been the same without him and his great staff. The hotel itself is rather small, but cozy, with just a few rooms, which added to the very personal, calm and friendly atmosphere. Location is perfect, just a short walk from the Blue Mosque, Hagia Sophia (~5-10 minutes depending on your walking speed) and Topkapı Palace, plus the street is a popular pick-up point for guided tours. There are really good restaurants also in walking distance close to the tram station (it's absolutely worth walking the extra five minutes to avoid the tourist traps!) and Mehmet is always ready to give great advice on food to try and places to visit, depending on your plans for the day. My room was comfortable, quiet and spotlessly clean. While there is no breakfast buffet, I did not miss anything at all and a full Turkish breakfast is prepared freshly for each individual guest when you come downstairs. Out back there is a small terrace which must a nice spot to finish the evening in the warmer season, but you can just as well make yourself comfortable in the lobby and have a relaxing little chat over tea and coffee after a busy day. Overall, if an anonymous, off-the-rack hotel experience and crowded breakfast rooms do not sound too appealing to you, and you want good value for money without giving up a good hotel standard and cleanliness, this is definitely your hotel!
