Exceptional value for money in particular for its location, which is just about perfect if you are visiting istanbul. Big rooms, comfy beds and a turn down service half way through the stay was a nice surprise.

Some small details but they really aren't issues. The bathroom smelt a little bit but not enough to be a problem. The whole place is recently renovated so there are some finishing details still in progress and the breakfast is at a premises down the road. The other building has a lovely view though so it's worth the stroll.

Such a great stay at The Local. The staff were so friendly and welcoming and arranged for our airport transfers before we had arrived. We stayed in the main accommodation for the first two nights - the room was really spacious and had a great little balcony. We were moved to their sister accommodation for our final night. The room was a lot smaller and bathroom quite cramped, however both rooms were clean and did the job for a comfy place to sleep after long days exploring. The breakfast packs were great to start our day and it's an easy 10-15 minute walk to most of the main sites. Would highly recommend when staying in Istanbul!

The location was fantastic just outside the heart and close to the sea

No atmosphere mainly down to the lack of communal space, which is only available if you have the breakfast option from time 9-11. The balcony pictured shown as advertised is not communal.

The location was perfect, right near the Hagia Sophia but a bit off the main road, so quite, besides for the call to prayer. We got the triple room with the balcony, and had an amazing view from the balcony of the bosphorus, and an awesome view of the blue mosque from our bathroom. Best of both worlds. We ate our take-away breakfast every morning on the balcony. The breakfast was good and had a little of lots of different things, but it was the same every morning and did get a little monotonous after a couple days, but still good. The staff were always friendly. They run a coffee shop on the main floor, so be sure to try some! It is an old building, so it creaks and doesn't have very good air conditioning, but that's part of its charm, sleeping in a true old turkish house. The beds were very comfortable. I would highly recomend this hotel, and make sure to book the queen suite with the bosphorus view terrace!

The location was fantastic 5 minutes to the Bhosphorous one way. The other 5 minutes to the Blue Mosqie / Hagia Sophia. Based in the older part of Istanbul in a beautiful historic town house Two local mini markets just seconds away to buy your snacks and drinks from. A number of restaurants very close by also. The room was spacious with excellent WiFi and a fab walk in shower. Always hot water. Free toiletries and lots of towels hand and bath size, plus a bath mat. The beds were so comfortable with memory foam mattress. Large mounted flat screen TV with many cable channels including English ones. Generous breakfast all freshly prepared. The owner and all the staff were very friendly and greeted you by name each day. They ordered our airport taxi at local rates. Were on hand to help with the luggage and wave us off. A great experience in an authentic property in a wonderful city

Having to leave

It was cozy, clean, personal and good location! It had great character. They had a friendly staff who were willing to help you with anything. Not a special breakfast but cute and every day a little bit different. Water pressure and temperature were both great. Door is easily accessible. Good wifi. We had an early flight and it was not a problem that we had our breakfast around 5 AM.

Only thing was that the toilet seat was a little bit loose and the bed was not super comfortable, but okay! Nothing big to mention.

Emre was a great host , he spoke English well , considering i don't speak Turkish . The place was extremely well located , very close to all the major places of interest . You can walk wherever you want to go .

unfortunately for Emre , the government built a tram railway line to very near where his hotel in located . Trams run daily from 6 am to 12 pm , BUT hey youre on holiday so shouldent be sleeping the hours away .

The greatest thing about this hostel is the proximity to the key landmarks and transportation. The staff of the hostel is super welcoming, approachable friendly. Shoutout to El from the reception for the chess tournament :) Breakfast area is on the roof top, so the view is awesome. The property offers a classic hostel experience where you can sit and share the beer with other guests, but it also seems family-friendly. I was positively surprised that the shared 6-bed room had its own bathroom. The bed was also surprisingly spacious.

To be honest, the property exceeded my expectations. The bathroom and the dorm room could be a bit cleaner, not all the furniture is very new, but that's about it. Nothing really bothered me too much.

So many good things to say here! Thank you for a great stay The Local! To begin with, the location was simply perfect for a sightseeing trip (less than 10 mins away from Hagia Sophia and the Blue Mosque on foot) plus there are some 24/7 mini markets near the hotel when/if needed. Another thing that won my heart was the rooftop terrace with a view of the Bosporus. It really made breakfast taste so much better and the night look that much more spectacular. The room was clean and all facilities including the AC were working.

The water pressure in the shower could use some work.

No one advised us about the railway. For the price we payed and from the photos of the hostel in Booking.com we expected a buffet breakfast... Unsecured door frame of the bathroom ... we were afraid to close or open it... Dirt on the floor in the whole room...
