I loved this hotel, it felt like staying at your favourite aunt's house. My room looked exactly how it does in the photos, the gorgeous, old-timey decor is so fun. The rootftop is incredible, with a direct view of the Blue Mosque. Breakfast was delicious with plenty of vegetarian options. The location is perfect to see the Blue Mosque, Hagia Sophia, the Basilica etc. - I would stay here for a couple of days to hit these spots, and then move elsewhere because the food options around the hotel aren't that great.

The staff were pleasant but would not necessarily go out of their way to help or answer questions.

Upgraded to a beautiful room. Being in a central location to the old city was fantastic!

Shower would leak onto the bathroom floor and form a large puddle. Hairdryer didn’t work. Loose toilet seat kept moving.

The Darussaade is very well located in Blue Mosque neighborhood. The hotel itself is comfortably old-school. Bonus: I can report that the beds are brand new. They changed all of them out while we were gone one morning, so there's that. The staff was very accommodating and helpful. Breakfast is worth getting.

Not the hotel's fault, but be careful when walking in the main tourist area. There are more hustlers and scammers than you can count, and each and every one of them will separate you from your money if you let your guard down. Don't speak to them, no matter how friendly they seem, just keep walking. Beware of the shoeshine scammers - do some homework to make sure you don't fall for their tricks. If you hand them money expecting change, just say goodbye to it because the best you'll get is the equivalent of 18 cents.

Charming and attentive staff, always ready to help. They were very responsive in helping with airport transfers and in paying for an additional room for a local relative (I had to use her info, but didn't want her to pay anything). I have stayed at this hotel in the past and continue to choose it for its excellent location and comfortable facilities. The breakfast room and food have been much improved since my last visit. The food choices were terrific for me (I am vegan, so the typical American breakfast is quite limiting.). The breakfast room now offers a great view of the Sea of Marmara and the top of the Blue Mosque! Our beds were comfortable, not overly firm as many hotel beds. Also, we requested and received two separate beds - this did not happen at 50% of the hotels we visited on this trip, so it was a big relief to find this upon our arrival. Great water pressure in the shower and plenty of hot water. Personally, I love the charm and character of the historic building, but if you are looking for a perfectly constructed modern hotel this is not for you. The AC is great! Tons of restaurants and a small grocery nearby; not even a five minute walk to the major sights, but you may get distracted by shopping along the way.

I would like stronger lighting in the bathroom.

Our stay in this hotel was superb, the location is in the heart of the old city center right after the Blue Mosque. Room was spacious and clean. The breakfast was something to look forward to every morning with traditional Turkish food like olives but also with something new every day. Enjoying the fantastic food and a glass of traditional çay from the roof top terrace giving panoramic view of Blue Mosque and the Sea was a great way to start a day in Istanbul.

Only minus point was that the windows in the room could not be opened.

To all those who say that sulthanamet is too touristic i reply that although it is true it is the only area with heritage wooden hotels with elevators and where the restaurants on the top floor offer spectacular views. Being the second time in the city we we skept the most famous monuments, we rented a car and we toured the whole city and i must say that the chance of parking next to the hotel (private service) and having the advantage of the eurasian tunnel at short distance away and the total lack of traffic along the shore in this area confirmed the good choice. The breakfast on the top floor is incredible with any weather, i love that the buffet changes every day. The rooms are in ottoman style and give the tourist that atmosphere of other times that makes the difference. The beds are extremely soft and comfortable. Despite inflation, the hotel rates are low, the staff is always very kind. We are very satisfied

This hotel is near to all attractions. Ton of places to eat nearby. Tram is walking distance. Breakfast is delicious with variety of choices and restaurant has an awesome view of the Blue Mosque. Room is clean with daily housekeeping and supply. The staff is wonderful always ready to help out. Ismail is awesome, cannot thank him enough to help me through out the whole trip with places to visit, transportation and everything else. Irfan, Housekeeping, kitchen staff, you guys rock! Will definitely come back here next time I am in Istanbul.

Room was smaller than expected but comfortable and enough for my needs.

The hotel is an old wooden building, so the rooms and single beds are little on the small side, this only really matters if you are a bigger person. But the walls and floorboards are thin, so the noise from other rooms kept me up, but I am a really light sleeper. This may not be a problem for you if you are not a light sleeper. I did however tell the staff that the noise on the floorboards from the room above me kept me up and they found quieter rooms for both me and my mum so the staff were so helpful about it and really went above and beyond

Wonderful, cozy, beautiful hotel with the best location. We were in Istanbul for the third time. And this time we were very lucky with the hotel. This hotel was a little bit more expensive than the othes, but the price corresponds to the quality: The staff is the most welcoming and friendly I have ever met! The receptionists were always ready to help with everything I was asking them - dry cleaning, ironing, transfers. I was very pleased with the work of the staff. (Guys, sorry, I completely forgot your names! But you are the best!) Workers in the cafeteria are the most cheerful people in the world. Breakfast is delicious and varied. We were there for 7 days and never got bored. The chef makes an amazing omelette. You have to pay extra for good coffee like latte or cappuccino - but it's worth it. Plus there is always free simple black coffee. I personally always drank local tea - 'bir bardak siyah çay' =) And my wife ordered a latte every time. The view from the terrace where we had breakfast was simply magnificent ! ! ! From one side - Bosphorus and the sunrise, from the other side the Blue Mosque and seagulls on the roofs. The location of the hotel is excellent - 5 minutes to the Blue Mosque. The area is good, not too noisy, but also safe. There is a 24-hour store nearby, where I was always buying something tasty. And you can’t count how many shops and good restaurants there are nearby. We don't like to stay in the same hotel if we're returning to a city we've already been to. But here I would probably make an exception and would happily stay in this wonderful hotel again! Thank you so much, Darussade hotel staff! Thank you, cleaning lady, restaurant chef and waiters, all the receptionists, Georgian chef-woman, who made amazing Russian salad "селёдка под шубой" on the 1st of January! Incredible breakfasts, just the absolute best. Not only an amazing breakfast spread, but multiple dishes changed every day-in addition to the classics (ricotta cheese with cherries, honey, simit, olive oil with zaatar, bread, omelette bar) there was always a different warm component (ex. Eggs, sausages, potatoes), rotating European-style sweet baked good (ex. Tiramisu or pear tart), and best of all several cold Turkish meze (ex. Baba ganoush or tabbouleh) that were an absolute delight. All served with views of the bosphorous on one side and the blue mosque on the other. The front desk was always manned, friendly, and helpful. The room was beautiful. The location was super close (10 minute walk) to the classic sights (haya sofia, blue mosque, topkapi palace) and the Sultanahmet tram stop, but still quiet and restful.

The room is definitely on the small size, which given the neighborhood makes sense, but I did have to scooch sideways, with part of my body hanging over the A/C unit, to get into the bed. The only other drawback to the property is that being so close to the historical sights means it’s surrounded by restaurants that are very touristy-we went to Eminou or Beyoglu for all our dinners, drinks, and evening wanderings. But at least those neighborhoods are very accessible by tram.
