The hotel staff were polite and provided directions to locations. The room is small for American standards, but normal for Japanese standards. Everything worked in our room and it was clean. There were many free amenities provided, the best being the pillows. The beds were on the harder side, but not unbearable. We stayed in a double bed and were able to fit 2 average-sized adult women comfortably. But we are sisters so we don't mind sleeping together. It might have been more awkward if I was with a friend. The best part of the hotel was the onsen. It is separated by gender and it was very clean and well maintained. The hours it is available are very generous and we would go around 5pm to enjoy every day. The location was great too, just on the other side of the road from Kyoto's main train station.

Everything was nice, my only wish is that the coffee maker downstairs had more choices, but it doesn't matter since there are so many places to get coffee and tea around the hotel.

The hotel is super convenient to Kyoto station and the small rooms are well equipped. The staff were helpful and kind when we had a problem with a booking at another hotel that required a Japanese speaker, going above and beyond. The onsen is a great extra addition and makes up for the small rooms. The rooms are very well priced.

Breakfast was fantastic. Can I say everything in Japan? The food is always exceptional. Very clean. Absolutely beautiful place. I will be definitely back. I would recommend this hotel very much. It’s so close to the station. You won’t have a worry in the world. You just have a problem in the station getting which way that way because no one really helps much in the station but it is the exceptional place to stay

I guess I can only say that I never had time to use any of the Japanese bath. We ran out of time so next time I’ll have to do a bit longer. I think in Kyoto and stay for at least four days but absolute beautiful place to stay.

The hotel location was very good, a few minutes walk from Kyoto station, and good Tulley's nearby at the Avanti mall (good for western breakfast, also a McDonalds on the basement floor which is also good for breakfast). Location is also really good because of the bus station being nearby. Good for catching buses to many of the key sights in Kyoto.

Reception team was not as friendly as other hotels we stayed at during this trip to Japan. Staff were helpful but no greetings as you enter/ leave the lobby, also check-in teams could be more smiley and friendly. Another improvement would be to have thicker bath towels, the current ones are too thin.

The location opposite the Kyoto station was a big positive. The room and bathroom were very clean with comfortable beds. They offer extra pillows near the Reception and toiletries are also provided there. The breakfast menu is limited and mainly has Japanese dishes. There were 3 types of bread and only cornflakes as the cereal. Plain yogurt is available with tinned fruit.

The room is very small with one side of the double bed having no side exit. There is no cupboard for clothes. The breakfast menu has very few non-Japanese dishes. Early check in at 12 noon is charged - 3000 yen even though we stayed 3 nights.

Location was excellent - across from the Kyoto station and the subways and 2 shopping malls. Next door to a great ramen eatery. Comfortable, clean and quiet.

Staff are mechanical. They’re placed behind counters but they do their jobs like robots. Handed us papers to read on breakfast timings etc Did not inform us that we could pick extra pillows to bring to our rooms during check-in and we discovered it by accident. We asked to choose pillows but they rigidly said no except at 3pm. We only stayed 3 days and so we had to rush back from our excursions the 2nd last day at 3pm to enjoy the extra pillows. They refused to help us bring the pillow to our room even if we chose it beforehand before the set 3pm timing they so rigidly stuck to. I thought Japanese hospitality was always one level up….but it was not so at Sanco Inn, Kyoto.

Breakfast was great and the staff were amazing. Thank you for a great stay! I was exhausted so we paid for an extra 2 hours late check out which really helped. Nice windows and very good light without loss of privacy! (Only got a view of another wall but this was fine as it meant we could have the curtains open more) The choice of pillows and amenities was great!

The facilities all stopped by 10am and so I didn't get to enjoy the little perks like the matcha late, coffee or ice cream. The onsen was a bit crowded so also didn't experience it. Room was quite small but the lighting was good.

Location opposite JR Kyoto is outstanding for convenient near and far travel, for shopping and dining. The hotel is modern, quite clean and offers facilities/services to reduce environmental impacts and costs. Staff are young and very keen to assist. Luggage storage facility uses cables with combination locks personally set. My primary reason for staying here was the common bath on 1F which I enjoyed immensely at the end of a long day.

Initially I was dismayed at finding my room directly opposite the elevators, but they were quiet and not disturbing. The hotel has an innocuous entrance - a simple, sliding wooden door, with the hotel name etched in relatively small letters above it.

Plenty of amenities to make a simple stay easygoing for a traveler. Bed and pillows were comfortable. I also liked that you could pick a different pillow if you got to the pillow library early enough. The room is small, but that's to be expected since the target customer is usually the "salaryman" who needs a night to stay someplace. It's very clean, and I slept very well. Onsen was clean and onsen amenities were also nice. I'm an English speaker, and there was someone who spoke English and explained how to check in. Even with the other staff who didn't speak English, they were very patient to answer any questions. Hotel is also a good price for being across the street from Kyoto station, so good central location for traveling.

Laundry machine didn't dry my clothes effectively on the first cycle, had to run it again.

Sanco Inn is right in front of Kyoto Station, which has acces to Shinkansen and KIX airport via train. It was a comfortable stay, the breakfast was really good, two options, continental and japanese. The rooms were a bit more spacious than the usual japanese rooms, and the temeprature was nice.

The scrambled eggs were too runny and liquid, so the taste is not that good. We stayed four days and got sick, so we stayed in the room for two days, but no cleaning was made, no trash picked up and towel change. No one approached the room to see if something was needed. The beds and pillows were too hard for me and my fiance. Every morning we had backaches.
