The room was generally clean and my stay was quiet. The breakfast was available earlier than some hotels, which I appreciated because I had an early departure. I also appreciate the reasonable pet fee. The location was close to my destination and near lots of restaurants and retail.

While the room was relatively clean, the cleaning products left an overpowering fragrance that never really left the room. The outside area could use some attention. It was pretty dirty and the grass hadn’t been mowed. This area didn’t feel super safe for a female solo traveler. I parked my car in front of the lobby—rather than along the side of the hotel, which would’ve provided better access to the room, because those areas felt secluded. I rarely saw anyone at the front desk.

The location of the Saluki Inn is on a main thoroughfare coming into town. It's easy to find, but its location does put it some distance from SIU. It is an older -- and, I believe -- family run Best Western. The building has seen better days, but the staff keeps the rooms clear and comfortable, and they do impressive things (the pool) with limited space. Best hotel experience in Carbondale.

Some carpets are threadbare, some walls need a fresh court of paint. It is a pre-Best Western + inn, and management does good things with what it has. Breakfast is unremarkable.

Property and rooms were clean, staff were friendly & helpful. Great location to SIU if purpose of trip is for activities at the University

Rooms could definitely use some updating with new furniture, paint job, etc (though it was very clean). Our nightstand drawer was broken and couldn’t be pushed in all the way;the charging stations in the lamps did not hold the phone chargers well so electronics didn’t charge overnight (had to use wall outlets in order for them to stay in); could use new bathroom towels that are softer material (they were clean, but rough on the skin)

The room was super-clean and felt new - carpet felt new or newish. Bathroom was very clean and sanitary.

The light above the sink could be better lighting. It is very dim. Also, the pool wasn't open (repairs) and I did not know that before booking. Also, I did not like the people/smokers hanging around outside late. The elevator probably needs repairs. Doors squeak and close very slowly.

The rooms and staff were very nice and clean. The Breakfast was delicious, and the pool was area was clean. We really like the location of the Hotel too!!

In our room the TV didn't work properly, and our phone didn't work at all. The clerk showed us two other available rooms to choose from that had working TV & Phone. The Clerk was wonderful and very helpful!!!

For the past 4 years we’ve stayed at this location due to my Granddaughter attending SIU. This location is close to the university and at a price we were comfortable with paying.

The renovation on the 1st floor are nice however the toilets are very low to the floor and difficult to use for seniors.

Fantastic! It was nice having something other than a continental breakfast or breakfast in a box. The omlettes, waffles, biscuits with gravy, and bacon were a big hit!

Breakfast hours were not posted in room literature or online information so we missed it two days out of our stay. Had to ask at the desk when it ended. Would be helpful to make this easily understood by guests.

Everything it was nice and clean environment made me feel comfortable as I suffer with depression and aniexty I felt good the whole time thanks

Calling to see if could check in early guy on phone was rude and not helpful.

Room, including the bathroom, was very clean. lobby seemed very clean

could use a few touches to spruce it up (ie, some of the Saluki signs were off the doors and not replaced). 2 of the electrical outlets in our room weren’t great (one on the lamp didn’t work, and the other things trying to plug in came right out). parking not great, but ok

The property was clean and well kept. The staff were kind and very knowledgeable. I enjoyed the stay and they are pet friendly.

The gym was ran down and had very little items.
