Staff are very welcoming and attentive to your needs!!! Kate and Shiana was very helpful and went far and beyond to assist us in our stay !!! Everything was in place and lots of facilities including breakfast,tea and coffee sundries,comfortable bed ,shower!!!Also parking was available with registration of vehicle; great _kg1production.

Vegetable sausage at breakfast was a bit hit and miss but overall very good and tasty!!! kg1production!!!

We were travelling from France for a funeral and this hotel was the only one in the area that could accommodate our dates. Although looking quite basic from the outside, the communal areas and rooms were very welcoming. We particularly liked the messages left in reception, which gave a warm feeling that the staff were committed to making your stay special. The staff were very friendly from the off. We stayed for 6 nights and, upon checking in, we’re given a very friendly and genuine welcome by Srijana, who was so lovely and helped us with our luggage and, thereafter, always checked in that everything was going ok for us. Thank you! The bar staff were also great. Tom and Sarah couldn’t do enough for us. Always friendly and welcoming and, particularly, warning us of the imminent arrival of coach parties and other events, which would impact the communal areas that evening and breakfast the next morning, really helped in making our stay more comfortable and relaxed. Their team work and commitment to their work showed through. Thank you! We have to give a shout out to Sikondar and Mikey at reception. Those guys were brilliant. So cool under the pressure of running the hotel and, particularly, dealing with unexpected situations. (Witnessing Sikondar responding to a guest complaining, whilst passing him in the corridor, he was so cool and diffused the situation so professionally.) Always with a smile and taking, what came over as, a genuine interest in our reason to be at the hotel, was really nice. Thank you! The breakfast was great value for money - cooked and continental. Great spread and choice for both options. Overall, our stay was relaxed, entertaining and enjoyable. Holiday Inn at Basingstoke have a great team and should be given a big pat on the back. Thank you! We’ll be back!

Breakfast was a little frustrating on a couple of mornings, whereby croissants had run out when we arrived and were cooked on demand when they ran out (20 minutes)! Can’t think of anything else - honestly. Thank you!

Bed very uncomfortable - mattress well used. Bathroom very cold as floor is ceramic. Soundproofing not good. We had elephants upstairs. Room cleaning only happened twice in 6 nights even 'tho I hung the 'out and about' on the door. Breakfast poor - dried up bacon, congealed eggs. My poached eggs were nice but swimming in water in the dish. Nobody around to ask for food to be topped up as bits of dried up bacon needed replacing. At £16.99 very expensive for what was offered. Lighting in room poor. No centre light.

The breakfasts were at convenient times, were plentiful and of good quality with lots of choice including gluten free bread. The hotel is in a convenient location just out of the city centre, around 25 minutes walk from the station. We had a quiet, comfortable night’s sleep both nights of our weekend stay. The manager and restaurant staff were polite and helpful.

Very good location. Lovely seating areas with comfortable chairs. Excellent breakfast. Very helpful and polite staff.

Being a lady in my 80’s I found the bath far too high to get into to have a shower. After asking at reception was told you do not have any rooms with just a shower. This does not encourage me to stay again but I cannot be the only guest to mention this.

Food choice good, the breakfast good. Room nice and clean. Parking good. Very patient receptionist dealing with busy period kindly changed out room to be nearer the reception area as my husband has difficulty walking.

Dinner was rather a disaster - we were only aware that a Christmas party was in progress and the dinner we were looking forward to couldn't be ordered until at least 9.30 ! we were rather past eating at this stage (we are both elderly) but I was able to get some soup and a dessert at this time. We didn't like to make a fuss but another guest complained rather loudly.

Location and parking was great. And breakfast good and plentiful

To go through the dining area instead of the bar in the evening. One small complaint when we arrived some money was held on the card for evening meal and breakfast, and was told the final part could be settled when we left. when we left after evening meal we were approached to settle the bill which was vey embarrassing for us so had to explain what had happened early at reception and what would happen when left, this was then checked and verified what we had said was correct, this was upsetting

Lovely clean and comfortable room, with very comfortable bed. Nice choice for breakfast, all tasty! Good location for what we were going to be doing. Good local taxi service (booked by the hotel) with very pleasant drivers. All members of staff very pleasant, friendly and helpful - they sorted out any queries very well.

The hotel doesn't have a lift and as we were upstairs we had stairs to climb with cases etc. My friend and I are both in our mid 70's and it was one thing I never thought about when booking. Also as it was so warm we left our window open overnight and I live in the country so not used to the sound of traffic at night. My friend, however, had no problem in getting to sleep. But these points are nothing against the hotel.

The room was nice but I had booked a queen bed deluxe and it seemed as though I got a double bed room? Breakfast was lovely. Pillows were a bit hard but overall the bed was comfy. Next time I will bring my own pillow. Maybe a cushion.

I feel the charge for bringing my dinner to the room for the price of £5.00 is a bit high considering I was in room 138. Maybe a 20 second walk? I do have osteoarthritis in my hands so carrying the tray was awkward for me. I was on a training course so worked throughout the evening so needed to be in my room to work. My card key I had to take back to reception 3 times to have it reset which was just annoying after completing a long day training.

The bar and lounge were a nice addition. As we were staying with a group of people for the weekend, they allowed us to stay up longer and served drinks for a long time. The afternoon food is a bit pricey, but tasted good.

The breakfast is good if things are available. As said above, we were a group and the hotel was fully booked. Therefore, a lot of food at the breakfast buffet was empty after half the group had eaten.
