The rooms were so clean and very nicely decorated. We had three rooms -- all with views of the lake -- and we loved them! They were small, but functional. Rm 4 was especially nice.

The check in. I was not able to check in online early, so had to do that when we got there. No one was at the desk, but there was a note on the door about where to go, so not really a problem. Just time-consuming. Also, I did not understand about ordering breakfast, so we did not get what we were expecting. Signing up for continental or full breakfast could have been explained a little better.

The conservatory side, where breakfast is served, has the loch view which is stunning. We saw an otter swimming about and a heron fishing. The beds we had were very comfy and the breakfast was delicious. We will be recommending this guesthouse and hope to return next year.

Not much to complain about really. If I had to be picky it would be parking. When we arrived we didn’t know where to park because the very small area outside the hotel was full. We had to get out and ask where to park, which was on the lochside behind the entrance of the guesthouse. My advice would be to empty the car of your luggage and leave in reception and then move the car to its overnight spot.

Second stay in this lovely guest house. Check in was straightforward and all staff was lovely. Room was small but clean and cozy enough since we were only staying for 1 night. When we arrived for breakfast, we were told our order sheet never made it down to them but everyone was very accomodating and sorted things out quickly.

I am not a big fan of soft mattress which is what we had here. We had road-facing room and with current heat wave our options were very warm room or listening to cars going by all night. Safe to say we did not get great sleep on this occassion. Wouldn't stop me staying again - jist next time I would bring earplugs. We also had a leak in the bathroom. When we reported it, we were told this is known issue and is getting sorted - would have been good to know on check in so we did not worry when we noticed at night.

What I really liked was that our room had a window with a view of Loch Long. The room was also very tastefully decorated. There was plenty of parking near the beer garden behind the pub at the Lochside Guesthouse and the owners didn’t mind that I left my car there. This was a great help because every other parking lot in the village was full —my wife and I hiked “Ben Aan,” aka The Cobbler” the next day, a wonderful hike! The start of the trail was only seven minutes walk away from the hotel. There were also some helpful guides in the hotel room for local hikes and attractions.

I’d change the faucets in the bathroom, hard to turn them off!

We had a very pleasant stay at this lakeside hotel. The location is simply unbeatable—right on the lake, offering one of the most stunning views I've ever seen. Watching the water from our room was truly a highlight of the trip. The staff were friendly and welcoming, and the entire place was spotless. It was also great to have private parking, and a local shop was conveniently just a 2-minute walk away. The bed was very comfortable, and although we didn’t try the breakfast, it was available at a reasonable price.

There were a few minor drawbacks. The room was on the smaller side and lacked a fridge, which would have been useful. Sound insulation could be improved—we were occasionally disturbed by noise from upstairs. Also, the bathroom sink didn’t have a mixer tap, which made adjusting water temperature a bit tricky. Reception isn't staffed around the clock, but that seems to be part of how the place operates, and it didn't cause us any major issues. Overall, it was a very enjoyable stay in a clean, well-maintained property in a perfect location. We would happily return!

A marvelous view of the Loch Long through the bow-window of our bedroom ! As our room was facing the loch, it was quiet although the A83 road is in front of the hotel. The hotel is also located near Loch Lomond around which there are many activities to choose from. We arrived around 8pm, too late to taste the adjacent pub’s meals but fortunately got something from a walking distance nearby restaurant. So our advice would be to arrive not too late if you want to dine at the pub , and book a room with a loch view.

The bathroom was a bit old.

This is one of the best places I have stayed. The staff was helpful, the food was simple but delicious, and the connected pub is a good place to have dinner and drink. The location is perfect for exploring the Highlands and is 1.5 to Edinburgh and only a few hours to the Two Sisters and excellent hiking and outdoor adventures. I travel 42 weeks a year for work, staying at some of the best (and worst) hotels in the world. Lochaide Guest House is 100% on the best side, a quiet, comfortable, clean, well-located place to stay that I would highly recommend.

The breakfast was fresh cooked to order and plentiful. Cereal, fresh fruit and fruit juice were available on a self help basis. The location is stunning, at the head of Loch Long and with amenities close by. The staff were very friendly and went well above what was expected to make our stay memorable. 7 of us were booked in to celebrate my partners 60th birthday and the management went way beyond anything I have previously seen as a surprise gift in the room. Our heartfelt thanks to all of the staff for making our stay so pleasurable and memorable.

There was nothing not to like, even my lass, who is incredibly fussy and picky, can only sing praise for Lochside Guest House. The only thing I could suggest for improvement would be the blinds in the room we stayed in. They were perfectly adequate as it was dark at night but may be more of an issue during the summer months and lighter nights

Liz and the rest of the staff in the breakfast room was so lovely and friendly and done everything to make us comfortable. Breakfast was lovely and plenty of it. Nice to sit and have breakfast looking over the loch too. The staff in the pub were also friendly and my salmon was cooked to perfection. I stayed at room 10 the bath was nice and view from room was lovely. Comfy bed room was fine for our 2 nights

Not a lot to see in the town. It’s a small town but not far from Tarbet.

Our room had a stunning view across the loch, the bed was comfortable and the ensuite was adequate. The cooked breakfast was good, although not included in the price of the room.

The room was cramped with very little space at the side of the bed. Parking at the front of the property was limited although there might have been more at the back. Being served our cooked breakfast while we were still eating our cereal and there was little space on the table was awkward and inconsiderate.
