We had opted for a superior room in order to have a fridge and this extra space (since we stayed for almost a week), and we were not disappointed. The room facilities were very good, with plenty of space and comfy furniture. The lighting suited us, with a desk lamp, bedside lamps and an overhead light, all operated separately. The curtains blocked the summer sun beautifully and the air conditioning was thankfully not too cold for comfort (we have found this a problem in other hotels). The location was perfect for us, just 5 minutes' walk to NEC and about the same distance to the railway station, which has frequent trains to Birmingham New Street. As far as I can tell the area around NEC and airport is quite safe, being miles from Birmingham city centre. When I walked alone from NEC one night after midnight I found the way well lit and completely empty of people.

Some in-room instruction on how to find the second set of towels and the hairdryer would have been helpful: the towels were tucked into a drawer (I've never encountered this practice in a hotel before; is it employed to discourage guests from using all the towels?); the hairdryer lies inside the desk, which raises to expose a secret compartment with mirror (clever but not entirely obvious). When I asked the receptionist for help I was treated with respect and some slight amusement :-)

The staff are helpful and friendly, the hotel restaurant and bar are great and the rooms have all the essentials. It’s very close to the airport if that’s what you need, and there is a shopping centre right next door with plenty of food and entertainment.

The rooms have all you need, but they are starting to feel and look old. Downstairs at reception everything looks really new and modern, but then in the room you go back some 15 or 20 years. They need upgrading. The location is far from the city and the nearest train line if you want to use public transport - if you have a car it’s fine.

Quiet very comfortable room. Was easy to walk to from Birmingham airport where we’d dropped our luggage off (the twilight jet2 service). We’d planned to walk back early morning (4.30am) to catch our flight but the receptionist said it wasn’t advisable to walk through the nec at that time in the morning. He was careful to phrase it in a way that wouldn’t scare my son who was listening but advised a taxi instead. He quickly called one for us which took 10 mins to come and cost £15. Had we known in advance we’d have pre-booked as when we got to the airport it was a long queue, however we made it through ok. So thanks to the hotel for thinking of our safety, and to whoever is planning to use this as an airport hotel it was the same quality as the Novotel but pretty much half the price on the July school hols night we stayed. And much quieter.

Was a quick visit so didn’t have any food etc there.

The breakfast was excellent and variety of food and drinks. Staff very helpful and pleasant.

Shame there was no takeaway containers to take leftover breakfast back to my room to finish while I was finishing packing and restaurant was closing after breakfast finishing time. Disabled room toilet was a let down as the toilet roll holder was high up and to the back so I strained my arm/hand trying to reach toilet paper. Hand/arm went numb for quite a few hours. Had to change room to a "Standard Room" which was a lot better in the toilet. Disabled room smelled a bit "musty" carpets in hallway looked worn and need uplift!

We loved the view from our room, overseeing the lake. We have only stayed for one night, but were very happy with all facilities and interactions with the staff, from checking in, the bar and restaurant, through to checking out. The breakfast was simply amazing, with an amazing choice of food for us and our kids. We enjoyed the evening walk around the lake, there is a number of restaurants you can go and eat in during your stay too. Great care was taken of our 6yo son (who has a dairy allergy) at breakfast. The lady at the restaurant entrance kindly offered dairy free muffins for him and even gone the extra mile and brough him delicious Starbucks oatmilk hot chocolate. I would highly recommend this hotel to any friends and families with kids. Everything was 10/10 and if we are in the area again in the future, we will definitely stay here again.

everything was perfect

Staff were really accommodating. We had ordered food to the hotel and they were happy to bring some plates and cutlery up to the room for us. Really nice little space downstairs if you’re meeting with friends too! Location is fantastic if you’re visiting the NEC.

Decor in the bathroom is quite odd. The room itself looks minimalist and sleek, but there are odd pictures in the bathroom that make it feel cheap. Important parts were very clean, but there was some grime if you looked closely (dirt in the corners in the bathroom, clothing from other guests under the bed from previous stays, etc.).

Hotel was conveniently close to the BP Pulse Live arena for a concert we were going to. Literally 2-3 minutes’ walk. Rooms were spacious and comfortable. Bright and airy lounge area - it was very busy during our stay as there were two conferences going on as well as the concert so limited availability for booking a table for food. Breakfast was also very busy and staff were finding it a task to seat people. Hotel made an effort to do something special for my parents who were celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary - which was a nice touch.

Extremely busy at mealtimes. Think it would have been good to allocate slots as it was so busy, to stop guests all turning up to breakfast at the same time. Would be easier to manage numbers.

Due to lifts, we turned up early but our room was ready so we settled straight in. We had lunch which was really good and a few drinks. It was very relaxing there and the service was great, we were really looked after. The staff were really professional but were chatty and friendly too. We enjoyed coffee and TV in our room before going to our show. On return we noted the bar was open and decided to have a nightcap then up to enjoy a good sleep. We had a full English breakfast before we left. They had everything and went out of their way to get gluten free bread and a lovely gluten free muffin for my friend. We were really impressed. Prices were pretty good. The location is perfect for shows at the arena and we will definitely stay here again. Keep up the good work.

Honestly, we could find no fault.

Our room was very comfortable and welcoming after a very long day. The location was good - we had booked to be close to the BP Pulse as we had attended a concert there Reception staff were very understanding when we had not been able to take out luggage to the hotel prior to the concert due to a transport issue Reception staff were also very understanding on checkout day when my daughter, who has significant additional needs was struggling to leave the hotel due to high anxiety, they allowed us an extension until midday so that she had time to process the stressors and leave in good time

There wasn't anything that I did not like

Great location. Lovely staff, so attentive. Checked in quickly. Room was brilliant, large, spotlessly clean, quiet. Had 1 drink and chips in bar at lunch, super service, food was hot and delicious. Finished the night with a drink and again staff quick and efficient serving. Fast check out. Will definitely stay again when seeing an event at BP pulse.

Would have loved a small continental breakfast but not at the same price as normal breakfast. So we got breakfast outside of hotel.
