I liked the setting , location . History of the building, free car parking onsite , I used the Spa , Rossana was exceptional. The staff in the hotel are all chatty and warm and approachable , and very helpful. I would stay again

The breakfast is nothing to sing about , sadly could do better. And attention to detail in the restaurant at night , we only went one night , our starters were delicious but mains nothing to dance about and the prices didn't match the quality, much much better food on offer at restaurants outside the hotel . Noise from partying in adjacent rooms on our first night at 2.30 in the morning? Luckily we were moved .

Booked a 2 night stay in a deluxe double room. Our room was really rather dated but it was clean. The bed was super comfy which is always a bonus. The sofa/pull out bed was quite shabby and needs replacing. The bathroom does need a magnifying shaving mirror. The towels are lovely, big and thick Breakfast was a cooked breakfast selection or continental pastries, yoghurt, fruit etc. basic but everything was tasty. The staff were friendly and helpful. Last but not least the amazing smell that greets you in reception needs to be bottled and sold. It’s heavenly.

I travelled on a very hot day, I believe at the time it was the hottest day of the year, I suffer from Heath conditions, rash and red skin everywhere, when I get too hot. I booked an assessible room as I have mobility problems and needed a walk in shower or wet room. The room I first had was a assessible room with bath and I have difficulty in stepping into a bath and getting out again. I went down to Reception and the lady at reception quickly changed the room for me. I was happy but when I got to new room the Air Conditioning was on but not blowing out any air. I went downstairs again, and reported this to the lady who quickly went on the computer to find me another room, she sent a young man, a waiter up to two further rooms but the AC in those rooms were not working either. Each room I was offered was an upgrade. Finally the young man went to a room and the AC was working very well. The room I was given was the Princess Alice room. A very lovely room with excellent views, this was a very high upgrade, it also had two fans inside the wardrobe in case the ac was not cool enough. I was in luxury haven and the 3 nights stay was amazing. Full use was made of the spa facilities and massages etc. Breakfast and dinners were good, altogether a wonderful 3 nights break with lovely walks and beautiful scenery. The only problem was there was only 2 plug sockets in the whole room. I have sleep apnoea and needed a socket by my bed to plug in my sleep machine but the sockets were across the room. I went down to reception again, and asked if they had an extension lead and was given one which solved the problem of no sockets by the bed. The Reception team and all the staff at breakfast, lunch, dinner and the bar were all amazing, friendly professional and attentive to guests needs

Just for the Hotel maintenance team to ensure that all the Air Conditioning units were in full working order in all of the bedrooms, especially as very hot weather was expected. The room only had two plug sockets. In this day and age where everything is plugged in and phones iPad etc more sockets are needed in the rooms. The two sockets were across the room and were for, the kettle, coffee machine, phone charging fans and so on. There were no plug sockets or USB ports by the bed either. I have sleep apnoea and needed a socket to plug in my sleep machine but the sockets were across the room. across car park from hotel is a fitness facility with a good size swimming pool for lengths , small weights gym on ground floor and small cardio room upstairs. There is EV charging near car park exit, you need to download the Roam charging app by EVC. It took about 4 minutes to download in car park. maybe do it in hotel on the free WiFi. You pay £45 upfront and it refunds you the balance after you charge. It was £0.61 per kWh. It is on zap map. There was a petrol car parked in front of one of the chargers, but still enough spare chargers, so not a problem. There are lots of bays marked out for pending chargers yet to be installed.

a bit of a drainy smell in gents changing room and steam room as you sometimes get. But if there's a smell, just don't dwell! I doubt it's the hotels fault, just a windy guest.

Loved the Osbourne Room (bridal suite) - gorgeous Roman-esque bath, view of the grounds, and spacious suite. The food at this establishment was also high-grade and excellent; they have a great kitchen staff. Bar drinks were fine (perhaps need to be a bit stronger!) but overall the space itself was lovely. Reception was very accommodating, and no stone was left unturned to assist us. The sitting room is stunning and the outdoor space is great for drinks and dining on the terrace. As for the facilities and spa, the gym is modest yet very effective, and the cardio room is quite decent. The pool has warm water, and the saunas are great for use after a long day to decompress. We also visited Barossa nature reserve (pine forest) close by as well as Virginia Water Lake. Recommend seeing both. Overall, we loved our experience. Customer experience was 10/10 :)

prices in the bar - ridiculously expensive

It was a nice hotel, lovely clean property close to Lapland UK, which was the purpose of the stay. The spa/pool facilities were lovely. MOST of the staff were friendly and helpful.

The initial welcome from the man behind the reception desk was appalling. There had been a booking mistake by Booking.com, which had nothing to do with us and after a few days sorting after arriving home, Booking.com realised their mistake and sorted it for us. However on arrival at the hotel, the member of staff immediately accused us of double booking and to cut a long story short manipulated the payment so we ended up paying for our original 2 room stay and then charged again for the 2nd booked room which we hadn’t booked and told them so. It all got sorted and we fully reimbursed but no apology from the hotel, but at no point did the man show any understanding, listen to anything we said and treated us like we were scammers!!! What a shame as the hotel and other staff were lovely.

The swimming pool and other spa facilities were great! The bedrooms are very comfortable too. We also like the greenery surrounding and the gardens. The continental breakfast area was good.

The hot breakfast was low quality. Hard overcooked bacon, and poor quality sausages. The coffee was also not great. We saw a couple with a caffitiere and having fried eggs. We were not offered this, but enquired and were given coffee. Would have been good to have it offered rather than thinking it was something exclusive to the other clients.

Very clean and comfortable. Unlimited filtered water was appreciated.

Initial impression was marred by a rude receptionist. However every other staff person I can in contact with was absolutely delightful. No tea making facilities in the room was very disappointing. Although unlimited filtered water and a lovely jug and glass to drink it from was appreciated. Lack of personal experience with everything online was something that would have me reconsider staying again. I’d like to be able to pick up the phone to book dinner or a massage.

Beautiful venue & pretty grounds. Staff were very helpful, we arrived early (11am) & they let us check in which was helpful. Room was clean & comfortable but they had missed cleaning where some tea had been split down the side of a table. Everything else was spotless particularly the bathroom. Bed & chairs were comfortable. Food was great. Area around the hotel a little too quiet if you want to explore but if you're looking for a relaxing weekend in a pretty setting & want to use the spa this place is perfect. Would be lovely for a family event or wedding too.
