Location is unreal - thought we were in the wrong place at first but it’s next to the train station, 5 min journey to Cambridge centre. You can also get bus in for £2 which takes about 20 min. Uber is about £10 to and from the centre. We hired scooters for 20p a minute which are unreal for seeing the city centre and canals.
Free parking would be nice. One lift was out of action as well so we took the stairs sometimes as it’s quicker than waiting for the lift.

This was my second time staying here for my birthday (last year and this year). I love this hotel, so fresh, clean, good looking and great facilities.
The guy on reception was very unwelcoming. I'm not sure why he has the job of a receptionist if he clearly doesn't like people. I wish I caught his name, but he was working both at the time I checked in and when I checked out and neither time did he say anything, he didn't welcome us to the hotel, he hardly spoke at all, in fact, he spoke so little that it was rude and I ended up being sarcastic by saying Thank you and Bye loudly as he said absolutely nothing! Honestly, why on earth would you put someone like that on reception? Incredibly rude and giving Novotel a bad name!

Gym, pool area
We had extremely poor service for our evening meal, told we couldn't order any food for an hour due to there being a hen party in the restaurant. There was not enough space to take anyone else's orders. Guests that arrived after us then started to get food before we were allowed to order. Management had to be requested to explain the situation. Food was average when finally received which we ate as had no other options of where to dine. A discount was then agreed to our final bill. It has unfortunately put us off staying again.

Nicely decorated. Well equipped, exceptional staff who go above and beyond to help you and engage with you. Food was great everything we are was really high quality.
We noticed online that there were suites with separate lounge and bedroom areas which would have been more suitable for our family of four, than a single room (though large enough with enough beds). Seems odd that that room (labelled executive suite) had a max capacity of 2, whereas our room which was half the size had a max capacity of 4 🙁 We didn’t however query it on arrival as we had already paid for our room and wasn’t too bothered for the last 3 nights of our 2.5 weeks UK tour. But we would have happily paid more for the larger room type.

Location next to Cambridge north train was convenient for me. There was a number 2 bus that was easy to get to and from town. The gym is good.
The first room faced the railway and I’m a very fussy light sleeper so asked for a room facing the other side. That all went well but they gave me a room for wheelchair access which had lots of signs of wear and tear and was in need of some refreshment. The shower had a few hairs left from a previous guest which was off putting. Then there was as a stain in the bottom sheet of the bed. I’m sure they were washed etc and it was just a stain that didn’t come out. Nevertheless it would be nice if the person making the bed had caught it. The seat of the chair also had stains on it. Finally: why do all hotels have such yucky foam pillows? Can’t they after an option of feather….?

Excellent room - twin has plenty of space for our bags, hanging rails for clothes etc. Nice to have seating are in room and well designed bathroom with good size shower and lovely shower products. Beds were very comfy. Staff were very helpful and friendly. The hotel is clearly very new and modern and located in an area of development for new offices and apartments etc. It was easy to find driving and was well connected to the city centre by bus and train. Parking is next to the hotel but is the train station parking- we did two loops in car before we relaised as the information on booking.com suggested it was a hotel car park. This is paid online when you leave the car park - staff were helpful with this but it is confusing if you dont know in advance this is the set up. It cost £9 for overnight when we arrived after 6pm and left before 10am which was reasonable compared to the parking prices in the city. Location - you can bus or train into the centre but there are not really any restaurants etc within walking distance. NB If you are going into Cambridge bus in would definitely be cheaper than paying to park in the city! Staff did offer that you can order food delivery if you didn't want to go back into the city or eat in the hotel (menu was pub food style but quite pricey) and there is a co-op opposite the hotel that has good food range for a room picnic!
Location might be an issue if you dont want to go back into city centre/drive for evening meals

The hotel itself was very comfortable, and the breakfast was very good. The staff were also nice. If you’re planning to spend most of your time enjoying the pool and spa, this can be a great option for you. The sound proofing of the hotel is very good, I had no disturbance.
The hotel’s location was close to the train station, but a bit far from Cambridge city center. You’ll need to use other transportation options like the train, bus or taxi to reach the central areas. The hotel didn’t provide UK-compatible socket adapters; you have to buy them from reception. I was planning to use some hair styling devices, so I couldn’t use the USB sockets for them.

Breakfast was very good, and the room was spacious and well maintained
The hotel is situated in a bit of a no-mans-land between the north Station car park and an outlying industrial estate/office hub. Parking in Cambridge centre is difficult so the hotel served a purpose, but the peak time Uber fare was £17 back to the hotel. You can travel by bus from the station to the centre fairly cheaply, but the return journey was difficult as there weren't any buses at the central station bearing the number we went out on, ad the information boards were useless. This is obviously not the hotel's fault but it is a problem for the traveller. Other than that it is a very tidy hotel and the staff were excellent.

Nice room, nice beds, fantastic shower. great pool/sauna/gym. Can order food to hotel, breakfast was brilliant. Co op opposite is really handy. Room has a fridge which was a brilliant idea too. Great for kids/familes. Had a relaxing break here. Right next to the train station.
The meet and greet was terrible. Room wasnt ready then had to pay over £10 for 3 soft drinks whilst we waited for the room to be ready. Wasnt a nice start to our break & even my kids noticed it. Really deflated our excitement for our anticipated break. Staff mainly good but depends on who you get. Restaurant automatically applies a 10% service charge but we had to get up several times for attention even though the Restaurant was empty. Had to twice request more toilet paper/more pillows as a family room and 5 pillows. Complimentary waters missing on arrival in the room. Attention to detail, not quite there sadly.

Novotel is a good choice if you want to stay a little ways from the city and you also have a car. There is a large car park right next to the hotel, which you can pay for and use for parking. The hotel room was very comfortable and spacious, and staff were very helpful and gave us many tips about visiting the sites and getting around, etc. There is a supermarket right across the hotel, and the bus to Cambridge city is right near the hotel. You can walk to the River Cam, and there is a great path for walking/runs. Overall, a great place if you want to stay away from the city.
Not many cafes and restaurants in the area that are accessible by foot.
