Easy to find, just off the A2 heading into Canterbury. The village is on the old A2 that was bypassed several years ago. Easy to get into Canterbury and surrounded by other lovely Kentish villages with good pubs and restaurants. Room was 1 of 5 in a converted outbuilding next to the host's own house. There was also a room in a tree house, it seems, but I didn't investigate further. The room was simply furnished but with everything you would need. Very quiet for a good nights rest. Breakfast was optional; I didn't have the breakfast so can't say. Beers and wine for selection on the honor basis.
The shower drain was blocked so shower flooded; eventually drained away but still a bit annoying. Everything else was up to par and as expected.

The owners are a fabulous couple. Stuart, took the time to explain what their arrangements were and the ethics of how they operated, before I had even arrived at the lodge. Nothing was too much trouble and every detail was orchestrated with cheerful and friendly professionalism to ensure our stay would be personally tailored to our needs. The rooms were exactly as they were hoped to be, warm, clean and comfortable and the bed would satisfy the standards of goldilocks. The grounds are tranquil and serene making a forest walk a must and the piggies were pure delight. We were given permission to feed them and Stuart took the time to explain how they were raised in every detail. I might consider having my own sometime down the line.
There was nothing not to like about this property. A beautiful location, close to Canterbury in a country compound.

Lovely host, very kind and welcoming. The property is in a lovely quiet area with beautiful woodland walks, but still easy to access main roads to get into Canterbury. Perfect for a short stay, breakfast was very tasty and we felt very well taken care of!
Just a personal preference, but it would have been nice to have a little fridge in the room, especially during the summer months. Our room could sometimes be a little noisy due to the location, but it wasn’t anything too bad.

Stuart and Georgina who run Oakside Lodge have put Upper Harbledown just west of Canterbury on our map. This comfortable accommodation just a 30min drive from Greater London, Folkestone or Dover features well equipped rooms with comfortable beds and ensuite bathrooms. A fairy Oak forest around the building keeps the night silent for good sleep. In the morning breakfast is served on a generous wooden terrace. Home made bacon and sausages and fresh eggs guaranteed. There's a high raising tree house for those who prefer to be somewhat closer to the night sky. Young guests will love to explore the property and meet the two pigs on duty called Sausage and Bacon. Nomen est omen. The pigs may change, the names stay the same. Five bright stars.

The location of the guesthouse means that a car is necessary. We did not stay in the room in the tree house, but there is one which is unusual. The breakfast is excellent and the host is a genial. The pigs are the stars of the show.
Not much. You can hardly blame the owner for the local council blocking the road on the way back from the restaurant by surprise one night which entailed a trip God knows where down the cart tracks of Kent to get back.

Stuart was a lovely host. He made us feel very welcome and explained everything. The room was clean and the bed very comfortable. We loved the pigs outside they are so cute and affectionate, very happy piggies! The grounds and views were very pretty and close to Canterbury Town. We will definitely cone back again. He has a lovely tree house in the garden too.
The shower pressure wasn't great, kept coming on and off and the temperature wasn't that hot . That's the only thing I would say.

We had a lovely stay , the owner let us drop of our bags earlier in the day before the check in time , and he gave us a tour of the property. The room was nice and spacious. Lots of options for breakfast in the morning and was very peaceful sitting out the deck. It's also a great location , as it's only a short drive to canterbury and whitstable .
The shower head needs a bit of a clean but aside from that everything was great.

Stuart was a great host, helpful and friendly. The guest house is clean, comfortable and in a perfect position, out of the way, surrounded by trees and fields,.but close enough to Canterbury and many other local attractions. Breakfast was simply delicious, the bacon and sausages were supplied by Stuarts own pigs which are running free across from the house. Can't recommend this lovely little gem enough!
No, everything was great!

The location, it was so comfortable. The owner was so good with my food allergies, and it was a really tasty breakfast!
The teabags! Please buy some better quality tea. The noise, some people staying in another of the rooms woke us up talking really loudly at about 6 am on the Sunday morning! I appreciate that’s not within the owners control but it really spoilt that morning. Maybe place some signs around the lodge to say to be respectful of others and remain quiet at night etc?
