Greeted every morning by a very hard working lady, nothing was too much trouble for her. She truly enjoyed her job.

There was no plug in the sink in the bathroom , it was reported on the first day, when we were leaving 5 days later there was still no plug. The water was so hot you could not wash your hands under the hot water tap. You needed the plug to be able to add cold water. The hot water tap was a botch job it was a cold water tap fitted on the hot water which was loose.

The Royal Hotel is going through planned upgrades to its rooms; some rooms are quite outdated in their decor but I've stayed in 3 so far and all were clean, with lovely quality linens and reasonable beds comfort-wise. The public areas seem newly refurbished and are lovely. The food is good but the standout for me is the service: Alex and Nicola simply could not be more thoughtful and caring: they care about the service they are providing and about their guests. They go above and beyond and this quality service is worth more to me than what wallpaper is in the rooms!! Great job Alex and Nicola and thank you.

The bedrooms are a bit dated/ tired in decor and facilities but as noted above, this is a work in progress, a programme of upgrades is happening and given the excellent service, this did not spoil my stay.

Excellent location, great if travelling by rail. Within 5 minutes walk of the town centre. Staff were exceptional and really went the extra mile to ensure our stay was pleasant. A request to change rooms (an inconvenience issue, rather than a specific issue with the accommodation) was no problem and Nichola ensured she understood our wishes and that they were met. We felt every effort was made to enhance our stay and assist with what became a difficult journey home - holding a room for the extra night until we could confirm we were homeward bound.

Hotel rooms were a little jaded, decoration and maintenance issues.

The food was very good. We really enjoyed our evening meal. The menu wasn't extensive but we liked the selection offered and our chosen meals were excellent. The staff were really helpful and welcoming. The lady who tended to the rooms was not too busy to say hello and exchange a few pleasant words. The hotel was close to various amenities and the area was pleasant. The hotel was easy to find. We will stay again when we visit the area.

There was nothing we didn't like. It just seemed as though they could do with some extra staff to cover the various areas. Saying that, the young man who was covering never seemed flustered or stressed and was consistently polite and happy and we were not kept waiting long for food or drinks etc.

I booked very last minute, and checked in at 10pm. Key was left in reception foyer for me. I stayed in a double room in the annexe building, and this was great. The bed was very big and comfy. The breakfast was a table with cereals etc on it and Full English to order. The breakfast was lovely, A really nice, clean cooked breakfast, not dripping in oil etc. For the money I pad, it was exceptional value, and will most likely stay here again when up for work.

Hotel free wifi was poor, but i had a better mobile signal, so really wasn't an issue in any way.

As you enter the hotel the entrance is a beautiful surprise. The staff were very friendly and were keen to help when required. the food was lovely and arrived quickly. Nichola was particularly helpful and had a good knowledge of the local area and facilities.

The top floor rooms are lovely but being quite tall meant I had to be careful to not bang my head in the corner of the room.

The young lady at breakfast made our stay, she is so friendly and welcoming, a definite asset to the hotel. The cooked breakfast was delicious but too much food! Perfect location for travelling by train.

No socket near a mirror for drying and straightening your hair.

Very nice staff Good value for the money Middle of elgin was in walking distance also the train station If you are looking for value for your money give this hotel a try

Unfortunately all night there was loud music playing somewhere either in the hotel or very close to it. It was the radio and I could hear it all night. It was switched off at approximately 6am which disrupted sleep. A shame as everything else was really good.

Good food, nice staff. room large, clean and warm. breakfast was great. check in/out easy.

shower within the bathroom appears to have been designed for someone the same size and weight as a breadstick. The shower, once squeezed into, was either hotter than the surface of the sun, or colder than ice. Not great after a long day of work.
