Lovely cosy tradition style pub. The rooms are situated just outside the conservatory at the.end of the large pub carpark. Lots of outside seating and tables, would be great on a sunny day. We had dinner at the pub which was top notch. Generous portions and a nice menu. Breakfast was slow to arrive but nicely presented, could have been a bit warmer but I feel chef did their best - I chatted to the nice young man serving afterwards who was very apologetic. I think the usual breakfast chef wasn't there. All in all though, I'd definitely return, nice clean rooms, kettle and plentiful teas, coffee, sugar. An iron and board. I liked it. Last comment, the pub is opposite a really impressive Church!

Great catch up with friends. Quiet location despite the chime of the church bells opposite and as expected the restaurant and bar were quiet on a cold Monday night in January, just after a busy Christmas & New Year. Lovely wholesome British food for dinner and a good breakfast to start the journey home. We loved the complimentary selection of teas,coffee,chocolate and biscuits available in our room. Friendly staff at dinner and breakfast.

The accommodation was warm and comfortable but there was an overwhelming smell of damp. Neither my wife or I could get hot water from the shower and the cubicle could certainly do with updating.

Very friendly helpful staff. Quiet warm room with a good supply of tea and milk. Full English breakfast was lovely with quality sausages. The restaurant menu was comprehensive and the portions were a good size.

The room smelt a bit damp although it was warm and dry. The mattress was a bit lumpy and there was no covering over the shower room window. It would have been nice to have more choice at breakfast for example toast and marmalade/jam, or yoghurt and fruit. There was a coffee machine in the room but no coffee pods and no instructions. The restaurant food was tasty but the potato was stone cold and the hot puddings were luke warm which was a bit disappointing. Despite these niggles we would stay again as hopefully they will be sorted out and the staff were so helpful and friendly.

I needed a place to stay last minute for a business event. I loved the look of Knive & Cleaver and the restaurant. The room was very rustic in design, matching the rest of the restaurant's interior. I love it. There was no noise during the night; I didn't hear other guests, and it was so peaceful in the area. The follow morning I arrived for breakfast and was surprised by the variety and the chef's presentation skills were impeccable. I absolutely loved the salmon and scrambled eggs on toast with avocado - highly recommended. The staff were friendly and very accommodating. Will definitely book there again for future trips.

Friendly staff, very helpful in the early part of the evening when the bar area was crowded and we needed space for the 6 of us. The food was average, but the purpose of our trip was to meet up with friends. The bed was comfortable with a nice modern bathroom

The meal was slightly disappointing, but some in our party were satisfied. The friendly service and general ambience were good. My breakfast of poached eggs and smoked salmon and hollandaise sauce was lukewarm warm at best. I appreciate the kitchen would have been under pressure with different orders for breakfast.

The bedroom, number 5, was comfortable and well decorated with adequate tea making facilities. We were attending a reunion with a number of friends and the room was cleaner than it had been in 2024. The evening meal was very good although the service was a bit slow.

The en-suite bathroom was tatty and needs updating. The broken floor tiles and general worn down appearance of the bathroom was totally out of place in a boutique hotel. In addition the shower was awful with the flow of water minimal.

The food was absolutely fantastic! Quality, very good sized meals, I was extremely impressed by all meals during our stay. The staff were lovely, so friendly helpful and a waitress dealing with a rather difficult situation did amazingly well to keep her cool professional demeanour

Shower was not working in our room, we were however given a key to use shower in another immediately we made staff aware Cleanliness could do with improvement, bathrooms could use some modernisation, rooms do not match up to the standard of the pub/restaurant.

Nicely decorated, room was clean and tidy. My room was in the annexe building behind the pub, so quieter in the evening than it would be in the pub itself. Food at the pub is great - I had the Gammon and Leek homemade pie with all the trimmings. Reasonably priced, and large portions. Good selection of ales and wines. Breakfast was very good - I had Eggs Benedict, but there were many options. EV charger at the front of the property - only a slow connection, but free.of charge, so I got 130 miles range added overnight FoC. Staff were all friendly, smiley, and happy to help. Really handy for an event at Millbrook Proving Ground.

Mattress was a little hard for my liking. That's all.

Fairly spacious room, that the rooms were outside of the pub. The rooms were all on one level. So no stairs. Facilities in the room were what we needed. A comfy bed, shower, tea and coffee, iron and ironing board.

Was in room 5, the door didn't shut properly had to keep slamming it , to get it to closed. Very hot rooms had to keep window open. It's close to the church, so you hear the bells ringing every hour (it didn't bother me), but my family said about it. As soon as you walk out of the room, you are in the garden and seating area of the pub. So we had people with their dog that kept barking at us.

Lovely room, very comfortable and modern, we had outside table and chairs, lovely restaurant, outside area, it was a Saturday afternoon spent eating late lunch listening to music from soul singer. Lovely food, breakfast cooked to Ooder and plentiful, good value. Nice event room available to hire, offered weddings with 9 rooms for guests to stay. Opposite a lovely village church. Was a lovely stay over. We were at a local wedding so needed somewhere to stay close by. Woukd definitely recommend this place .

Nothing to dislike. Could maybe put bottles of water in room??
