Dominic, who greeted us at the reception, was exceedingly kind and helpful in making us feel welcome. He happily showed us around the impressive building and shared its rich history with us. We enjoyed a tranquil stroll through the meticulously maintained gardens before retiring to the Lincoln Bedroom, formerly known as the bridal suite. It was charming and offered a lovely view of the obelisk on the hill.

While the building was undergoing renovations, remodelling, and a change of ownership, we understand there were no dining or bar services available during our stay. The only inconveniences we experienced were the lack of hot water and the absence of a hairdryer or ironing facilities.

What an amazing weekend as a hotel guest. Please read this review fully as it was a unique experience & requires you to be prepared. The young gentleman on reception was excellent and very polite . This was once a luxury manor hall & has just been taken back by the owners. Some of it is still run down which you have to know to expect. But I cannot fault the sheer beauty. We left smiling throughout as we couldn’t believe we had the opportunity to sleep in what was a luxury manor hall. •we were the only guests that weekend. •the drive was incredible with sheep, ducks, cows grazing within the beauty. •the gardens were incredible fit for a wedding. •There is no restaurant or bar. Please come knowing this as Grantham is so nearby for all amenities. •Bring water, drinks, snacks etc. •we dined in Grantham and the restaurants were delicious. •We found this hotel on booking.com. We drove up to it and it had beautiful surroundings we could not fault. •The very polite receptionist told us that they have just turned it back into a hotel so it will take time as more guests arrive over the next few months to perfect it. He was very kind & fair being up front about why it didn’t have a bar and restaurant. •We stayed in what was the bridal suite. Room was huge. Very comfy bed, TV. Kettle. It’s important to note this isn’t a fully running hotel with lots of amenities. This was a one off experience in a manor which we loved. Water took time to run hot but again this is a stately home. After 8-9 mins of running it, the hot water kicks in. They only use a few rooms currently whilst they are renovating. We were the only guests & honestly can’t believe the sheer beauty. Please arrive knowing they are doing their best to turn this back into a hotel slowly. I have never slept in a manor hall without lots of guests enjoying everything about it.

The hotel had just reopened to the public. We arrived at 10pm and the castle was illuminated, it was quite a spectacle. Our room was very spacious and clean, with a king size bed. We were immediately intrigued by the history of the place and the member of staff was very happy to tell us its story. The castle has huge windows and a beautiful wooden staircase. We had a little tour of the refurbished part of the premises the next morning and we ventured in the vast garden with lovely mature trees. We also saw a deer.

At the time of our stay, food was not available. The bar and the restaurant had not reopened to the public. We were informed by a member of staff in advance and it was not a problem for us.

The place was fantastic and the lad behind reception was great to chat with and share his knowledge on the place. I would come bak again

I was really looking forward to a bath as I don’t have one at home but we had no warm water for our whole stay. We did give it atleast half hour as it’s an old building but to no luck. Other than that everything was fantastic and I loved the tranquility.

I slipped over on the bathroom floor as it was soaking wet causing me to bang my head.

Location and building were stunning. Bed was comfy. Can't comment on the dining facilities as I didn't eat there. It is currently undergoing renovations and I hope this carries on to the stables as well.

On arrival, no staff at reception for several minutes, when someone did come, there was no welcome, no apology for keeping me waiting, not even a smile. He pointed me back out the main building as my room was in the stable block, a short drive back. The shower was only tepid. Mould on the bedroom curtains which had to be closed as it was on ground floor with people walking past. Mismatched furniture and the wallpaper, which showed rows of books was actually upside down. When I checked out again, no pleasantries from the same person as the night before

Both Post codes did not take to hotel location so was offered complimentary breakfast which was actually delicious with friendly breakfast staff who helped me as I have a disability and was competing in a disability golf event in the course associated with hotel.

Difficulty in getting to hotel due to poor signage and incorrect post codes. There’s only a big hotel sign at main entrance to drive into hotel estate on side visible from A1 access but no visible sign from the village direction. Windows could do with good clean to enjoy spectacular views. Dated decor and in need of lots of TLC. impressive building. In need of investment to compliment the friendly service from staff and would indeed put the operation and destination venue as a must visit…

Good self serve full English breakfast so no scrimping on portion's etc. Dinner was very nice and reasonably priced. Bar prices weren't extortionate. The building, grounds and main areas were very nice.

Should automatically provide water at the dinner table. Also there was only one bowl of vegetables brought for 7 of us. Had to ask for another bowl to be brought which took a while. Only one small jug of orange juice at the breakfast bar for all guests and no one checking when needing refilled so had to go to reception to ask for more. The stairs etc could have done with hoovering. Generally some of the areas were a bit 'tired' and needing repainting, especially the down stirs toilet area dorrs etc.

Great building with fantastic grounds and views. Th The breakfast was great and the staff very friendly, helpful and professional

The cleanliness is basic and some surfaces could be wiped down; especially the bar tables more often. The room was okay, but there was a smell rising from the sewage pipe in the bathroom. Generally a bit tired and needs a lick of paint, but I would still recommend this place. It’s a diamond of a place that just needs some post Covid lockdown TLC
