Great location, comfortable beds and room nicely decorated. It’s definitely a cut above in terms of the general ambiance

Though not part of what was paid for, the food is a bit pricey vs the quality and portion size. My main niggle was check in time. Admittedly, check in is advertised as 1600 but, having turned up at 1535, I thought I’d ask if check in was available. Most hotels I’ve stayed at would have checked if the room were ready and acted accordingly. Not here. I was told that if I wanted the room before 1600, there would be an early check in charge. Naturally, I declined and hung around for an extra 25 minutes but it seemed a pretty churlish policy!

Before we arrived we were appreciative of the generous check-in and check-out times, giving us lots of flexibility. A parking space was available right outside the hotel. We were welcomed by Katy who was very engaging. The room was superb. It was really spacious, well-appointed and comfortable, with pleasant village views. Everything was where it should be and was easy to operate. There were even little complimentary mouse-shaped cakes, to commemorate Kilburn's famous 'Mouseman' carpenter. We were given excellent service by Lucy, in the restaurant and bar, who was so friendly and helpful. In the morning, after a great night's sleep, we enjoyed a large, tasty breakfast which had been cooked to perfection. We also met Gemma, who I believe is one of the proprietors of this very well-run establishment, and thanked her for our fabulous stay.

The bar closed earlier than expected (before 9pm), but I imagine that it may not always be viable to remain open if it isn't busy.

Doors locked at 8pm felt cold and uncomfortable like we were in the way on arriving we were greeted with no smile only you can't check in till 4pm when it says on website 2pm..the breakfast was beautiful but left before breakfast next day as we wernt told breakfast was served only from 9pm on Sunday the rooms were fabulous it was all such a shame as it's a beautiful pub the young girls who worked there were brilliant just sad bout the rest had to ask for cutlery as did many other people we saw sugar too they basics were missing in this pub

Lots of breakfast-choices including 'Full Yorkshire' which was very good and more than ample. The evening-meal restaurant had vegetarian choices and a selection of traditional hearty English dishes and less expensive pizzas. We chose from all three types of meal and in all cases the cooking and preparation was perfect. One evening, there was only us and two friends in the bar and we wanted to watch the England match. They wanted to close early but let us stay in the bar to the end of the match and provided us with waitress service.

There was nothing we did not like. The room was comfortable, the bathroom was adequate and the food and service very good. It is difficult to find something I did not like.

Gorgeous village location, lovely food (both dinner and breakfast excellent), attractive and comfortable bar and dining areas. Comfy bed.in nice quaint bedroom. Bathroom fittings a bit tired but completely functional.

Felt like we were a bit of an inconvenience at times (some staff lovely and friendly, but some staff very abrupt and bordering on rude). Would be tempted to 'answer back' if I was spoken to in the same way on a return visit. Or perhaps just not return in first place. Not sure...

The rooms were beautiful. The food was really good and the staff amazing. On the night of our stay a staff member had gone home unwell which left one member of staff. He was helpful and friendly and apologised there may be a short delay. Our stay was relaxing and enjoyable. The village is beautiful, next to the 'mouse man' church and a short walk up the lane you can see the Whitehorse in the hill. Would definitely go back.

Lovely little gem tucked away in a tiny village in the middle of nowhere. Our room was huge and loved that I could sit on the windowsil and watch the world go by. We ate here too and the food was amazing, we had 3 course and drinks and went to bed full and happy. Breakfast was also lovely, lots of choice and served in a cosy part of the pub downstairs. This is definitely somewhere I would book again, so peaceful.

I don't want to find fault where there isn't any, I'm not going to pick at tiny things that didn't make any difference to how wonderful our night away was.

Great food, staff and accommodation. Lovely, peaceful location. The serving and kitchen staff went above and beyond our needs when dining in the restaurant. Breakfast was delicious and very organised. Loved the attention to detail, i.e., 2 X welcome mini sponge mice under a little glass dome and 'blue flush' in the toilet cistern ;-)

No complimentary toiletries available, although there was no issue without. It came as a surprise, as 'chain' hotels have conditioned us to expect it!

Unfortunately I think they forgot my son was coming as everything was set for 2 people. So I did have to ask for extra towels, cups , more milk and another hot chocolate...this was sorted very easily. I wasn't expecting a blow up bed for my son, however, so we decided not to bother so 3 of us slept in the bed which wasn't the best really. When I put in 3 people when booking I expected that all of us would be sleeping in a bed really not 1 bed and a blow up bed. Doesn't really fit in with the setting and wouldn't feel very special for my son if I'm honest. The breakfast was amazing and catered well with lots of choice .

excellent breakfast. The bed linen is high quality, and a very good walk-in shower, no bath thank goodness.

No concerns but a word of advice: we had a very large and comfortable room but in a roof space, with very low windows, so a bit dark; it needs a skylight or two! - assuming planning permission is available of course. We had a very pleasant stay; any taxis - arrange in advance, but we were warned.
