The room was lovely and clean and spacious for us both and our dog . The hotel staff were very friendly and very helpful . Mary on reception was very welcoming and very accommodating she went above and beyond to help us with parking on a very busy Saturday . We also had Sunday lunch there which was beautiful. A lovely touch in the room providing balls , treats ,bowls , poo bags and a towel for our dog .
The only negative thing I can say is that where we ate our Sunday lunch wasn’t the best spot . We were sat at a table near to the bar doors and people were passing through and stood chatting while we were trying to enjoy our food . Some of the people weren’t aware of our dog and he nearly got stood on a few times . It was much more comfortable eating in the atrium where we had breakfast and a meal on Saturday evening .

All the staff and food were excellent. Nothing was too much trouble. A satisfactory solution was found quickly for any queries and issues were rectified in a professional and polite way. The location is ideal. The room and facilities were second to none. The surprise personal touch of bottle of prosecco and card for our wedding anniversary made us feel very special.
I only have 2 comments. Because there are so many lovely facilities in the room eg tea tray, coffee maker, remote controls, phone, calendar, games, relaxing room spray, radio, magazines etc, it didn't leave much table/desk space for us to put our own things, including the room service tray. Secondly, through no fault of the hotels, car parking is restricted, however the staff were really knowledgeable about the issue and we parked very close to the hotel free of charge for our whole trip.

The Feathers is an incredibly classy and luxurious hotel in the picturesque little town of Helmsley. I have stayed before, and enjoy going back. Rooms are decorated to perfection and have the comfort and luxury that follow its reputation. Food was delicious- and plenty of care given to special diets. The staff are courteous and kind, and go out of their way to help- I was assisted with my bags when i was leaving. They were flexible, and enabled me to invite a friend to join me for dinner one night, and even made room for her labrador as they have a dog-friendly room in the restaurant.

Staff were the stand out for this hotel. My room was comfortable and well appointed. The restaurant food was good. The service was great.
Not a hotel problem but a Booking.com issue about parking. In the filter I selected parking, expecting designated parking. Some very limited on site parking is available which cannot be guaranteed. Otherwise it is street parking. To be fair to the hotel, this is stated on their page. I recommend Booking.com write a better script for the filter feature so the options are clearer. Fortunately the manager, Keith, came up with a solution.

The breakfast on both days we stayed was excellently cooked and was substantial to carry us through the day until evening. The staff were very good all round but Craig was excellent in his manner and he couldn’t do enough for us. We really appreciated his personal touch and his manner/ humour after he had worked such long hours. The other staff were extremely helpful and were a credit to your business from giving advice re parking to outlining key areas for our stay. We will be recommending the Feathers to our friends And family undoubtedly.
The decoration in room 16 did look a bit tired but take nothing away that did not impact on us in any way and we were very pleased with our room for the weekend.

We were moved on our second day to a lovely room and were promised a reduction in the price due to the noise overnight and our first room not having a large bed, as we had been promised. One of our group had a large and beautiful room, which we were able to use as our own lounge, to some extent. The hotel bar, which we managed to access on Sunday night to sit in, was very nice and characterful. The men liked the draught beer, there, too. Great location in the market square with easy access to other hotels, restaurants and shops.
Noise overnight underneath our bedroom until midnight on our first night (friday) due to a planned function for another group. Unable to sit in the bars after 5.00pm on Friday and Saturday due to large groups in the main bar and the other rooms being reserved for diners after 5.00pm. Our dining reservation was for 7.30pm. The residents' lounge was a through passage with only four seats.

We stayed at The Feathers Hotel the night before we started The Cleveland Way from Helmsley. Everything at this hotel impressed me - the attention to detail is amazing. The staff were all so welcoming, friendly and attentive. Our twin room was perfect for one night with super comfy beds & although overlooking the square, it was very quiet. We ate dinner and breakfast at the hotel - the food was amazing. A great hotel for the first night of our Cleveland Way trek.
Leaving! Wish we were staying there longer!

Nice breakfast cooked to order we had dinner for our three night stay and were very happy with the menu although a little expensive for a bottle of wine. The room was comfortable, clean and perfectly adequate for a short stay. We enjoyed our time in Helmsley . Nice hotel pleasant staff in a lovely village with plenty to see and do locally.
Milk is provided in a small flask which worked ok on the first night but subsequently one flask which we obtained from reception was almost completely solid on opening the following morning. We had opted for the ‘green’ alternative of not having our room serviced daily which, with hind sight, may have been a mistake on our part. The only other slight issue is car parking . There is free roadside parking available which we took advantage of by claiming a space as day trippers began to leave, as one member of staff said, once you find a space don’t move!

All staff were very friendly and made us and our dogs feel incredibly welcome. There were bowls in the room, a towel , treats, and puppy pads for dogs. There is a spacious outdoor courtyard to sit with pets and drinks, as well as seating out front looking onto the lovely square and an indoor bar. Dinner was lovely in the Feathers restaurant however, an Indian and Italian restaurant are very close by. Our room was very clean and comfortable. Ours was a very last minute booking, and we had room 2, a Classic Double, which was the only availability. It was a smaller room looking onto the square above the bar, but for one night with 2 lurchers we made it work well. There was a small amount of noise before the bar closed but this is to be expected and wasn't an issue at all. We will definitely return with our doggo's! Helmsley is such a lovely little town with a good selection of bars and cafes.

The friendliness of the staff and the excellent location.
I wouldn't say "didn't like" more so to enhance and score a 10 rather than a 9. We had dinner in the hotel and the starter and main, including the wine were excellent.. However, I had the whiskey and marmalade bread pudding and sadly it let the whole thing down as there wasn't a semblance of whiskey or orange taste at all. I did feedback this to the waitress as more constructive feedback rather than a complaint. I would have liked some response or comment to close the loop.. I also think the area designated as a residents lounge could be enhanced as it could be an area to offer residents a quieter place to get a drink away from the melhay in the main bar.
