The King's Head hotel is an Oldie/Worldie building plenty of history, parking is at rear on one way system if carpark full ask staff if more parking available. Has a large beer garden at rear very well kept on entering hotel was met by staff member (who we later found out was Chef) we were shown to our room which was up a narrow staircase the room was spacious bit tired but didn't spoil holiday. Nice sash windows original feature with a window seat most comfortable, bed was a Queen size with sprung mattress if you're not a fan it will keep you awake ( I had no problems sleeping) lightweight duvet as we were having a mini heatwave. The bar at hotel had it's regulars couple hand pumps made my taste buds excited wife was happy with her southern comfort, food menu was above n beyond we tasted most of the food, also had a special menu plus dessert. Breakfast was a good choice for all food tolerances plenty choice waiting staff very polite quick on the tidy up I'd recommend you try everything on Breakfast menu.bar was busy in evening with guests and outside trade booking for dinner, book early if you don't want disappointment.Lots of brochures on dresser outside in hallway you wont be disappointed with place's to visit or just enjoy the breathtaking countryside, if you're interested in antiques visit Ryedale auction house ( it's the home of The Yorkshire auction house Angus).we never stayed for Sunday dinner it looked mouth watering we will try next time, Staff are family so family business keep it going 10/10

Just needs a Tweek .

Traditional/historic hotel set in the heart of town. Very pleasant staff, Relaxed ambience. Great choices for breakfast, i.e. 5 or 6 alternatives- we both had a different one in our 3 night stay and all were excellent. 2 evening meals here, both of which were excellent value for money, the second was a late Sunday lunch, not something we normally opt for, but so glad we did as the beef was as good as any we've had (and that's a lot). Ample free private car park at rear.

Nothing we actively disliked. Obviously a historic building such as this has flaws -uneven surfaces etc. but that has to be expected.

Lovely welcome, friendly hosts - immediately liked ambience of this hotel, which is very handy for strolling through the town. Ryedale Auctions, where we were headed each day, is about 10 mins' walk away. Our room was a twin overlooking the courtyard at rear of hotel. Asked if we'd like to book for dinner - and so glad we did, as the evening meal was excellent, with added bonus of a deal on the wagyu burger/steak - both our meals were piping hot, delicious and filling, 10/10. First morning's breakfast - both a full English - again very nicely done (must have run out of OJ as we had orange cordial!). Free car park around back of hotel - drive through the pay carpark next to hotel, left onto road, left at junction then first left into hotel park. Loved the olde worlde charm of the place and the people we met along the way - the staff really are helpful and approachable, thank you.

Pillow a little too hard for me but found a squashier one in linen cupboard! Room above or very near to kitchen so some mid-evening noise, doors banging etc - guess old walls are a bit thin. Breakfast inconsistent - not as good second morning - hardly any fried bread on the full English as opposed to day before; and smoked salmon with poached eggs that were well overcooked and had to ask for some Hollandaise sauce.

What a wonderful place the Kings head is, we wanted to stay longer. The staff are friendly and polite, and cannot do enough for you. We were in the cottage in the courtyard as we have a dog, and it was perfect. We had breakfast each morning, cooked to order and really good, and our two evening meals were exceptional. So generous that unfortunately we couldn't manage a pudding from the very tempting menu. Next time I will order a 'small plate' so that I can indulge in one of the desserts. The cottage was clean and well furnished, the bed comfortable, and it has the bonus of a bath which was a joy after a hot day walking. Can't wait to come back, thank you Kings Head.

Cannot fault it, exceptional in every way, highly recommend.

THANKS FOR MAKING OUR TIME FEEL SPECIAL. A real pub/hotel with plenty of local people & guests enjoying excellent food and drinks on Friday & Saturday. This is a true measure of the quality of the King's Head. VERY friendly and helpful staff at all times. They could not have done any more for us. The wife got VERY protective of her Garlic Mushroom starter on Friday night. It was SO good. We had a lovely meal with friends on Sunday evening. The food was great for all meals taken. Lovely quiet well-equipped room. Nice to see and use the shutters - very unusual to see them as workable. Nice quiet small car park at the back was good for our dag to sleep overnight' Plenty of good parking just a few steps away. Spent time walking in Kirkbymoorside. A lovely place with a great history. Well worth spending time to see the town and the North York moors. WE WILL BE BACK AGAIN.

Nothing to report as bad news or changes to recommend.

The Location was perfect, near the top of the road, with parking on both sides - a nice post-supper walk around town was very pleasant, the place felt very safe. The Breakfast was every bit as EXCELLENT as other reviewers have described! Floor staff at both dinner and breakfast were very friendly and accommodating too! That burger at supper was very very good and fantastically filling. I also took my bike to Castle Howard just 10 miles away - a breathtaking ride in every sense!!

The bathroom was tiny and the plasticky wallpaper was cracking and drooping in places - quick and easy fixes, I suppose. The guest in the next room snored realllly loud - nothing to do with the hotel.

Private parking and a lovely, large twin room with original features and comfortable beds. Warm welcome on arrival and good pub grub for evening meal. Yorkshire tea in the room (always a bonus!), nice toiletries and fluffy white towels. Tasty breakfast and everything you could want to eat. Would happily return! Oh and the resident cats are a bonus if you’re a cat lover!

Nothing really! Being really picky an extension socket by the beds would mean being able to plug in more than one device

Kirbymoorside is a lovely town to visit. The Kings Head on first impressions looks a bit worn. However, the service was outstanding. The staff could not be kinder, helpful and so polite. Our room was clean and very comfortable. The menu is small, plus the daily board. But, the food was brillant. Breakfast is outstanding. Best hotel/pub i have been to in ages.

Location was great staff were amazing the owner offered to taxi us to the gig we were going to when we found out there were no taxi services at all and also picked us up again late on for a cheap price! Never seen that level of customer service before, but he did used to be a taxi driver so I imagine he's used to it! Nice Garden to sit and quiet area overall. Would stay again!

The mattress was not very good, quite hard and worn in. Rooms could do with a spruce up but apparently a renovation is already in progress and everything else worked well. Shower was better than most I've seen in hotels and worked brilliantly!
