We’d booked the 1 bedroom cottage but were upgraded to the 2 bedroom, the gentleman said because of refurbishment work, so this was a lovely surprise! Cottage had everything we needed. Comfy beds, nice bathroom, good shower, plenty of storage & fully equipped kitchen/ diner. Kids loved the log burner in the lounge, v cosy. After a day out on the first day we came back to find someone had made the beds, cleaned the toilet , put the crockery away that we’d left on the draining board & left us some biscuits in the tea tray! A lovely touch. It was a short walk across the car park from the back of the pub but felt very private & quiet with its own little garden, patio & bbq!! The pub itself had beautiful outside space: beer garden & pond/ surrounding garden so lovely. We also enjoyed the pool table. The staff were all very friendly & helpful. We’d booked 2 nights so got free breakfast both mornings, & also decided to eat there both nights. Food was excellent.

The cottage smelt a bit musty & we noticed a bit of dust & a few cobwebs. When we arrived the windows had been left open, perhaps to air it a bit, but there was a wasps nest on the roof near the main bedroom window so I daren’t leave that particular window open. New York skyline pic & Harry Potter pics on the stairs weren’t really in keeping with the rest of the cottage. Breakfast was served early 08.15-09.15, which was fine for me because I’ve got young kids, but when we arrived for breakfast on the 2nd morning at 08.55 the waitress told me they’d nearly given up on us, & that the chef was keen to get home! We felt really rushed, and the waitress apologetically brought our hot food halfway through us eating our cereal.

We had a separate bungalow which was amazing, had an enclosed garden so if we went again I'd consider taking our dogs, depending on cost, breakfast was really tasty, breakfast waitress very helpful.

On arrival, and I had rung ahead to say we were running late, the barman (Josh), ignored us for a good 5 mins, even a customer told him we were waiting. Then he acknowledged us and said he wasn't sure where we were staying as booking seemed to have changed. Finally he got a key and said he'd take us. No conversation, there were no lights to light up the way to the bungalow, even he struggled to find the keyhole to the door. Didn't show us in just handed us the key. Weren't even informed of what time breakfast was, had to go on the website to search for info. No such information provided in the guest welcome folder.

Extremely friendly staff. Bright and spacious bedroom. Tea, coffee ,biscuits and toiletries provided in the room . Evening meal choices were of a good range , reasonably priced , not too long a wait for the food to be served , food was hot and tasty and good portion sizes. Breakfast server was very cheerful . Wide choice including cereals and cooked breakfasts. Good quality food , well cooked, very tasty. Peaceful location. We were attending a wedding at 12.00 , so the hotel kindly extended our check out time to 11.00 .

Getting the correct temperature for the shower was rather hit and miss. The bathroom was tidy - could do with an upgrade, but probably difficult given the age of the building.

We were allocated step bedroom house which had perfect space for a family with two kids. Kitchen and Dining room a bonus. Staff were friendly and helpful

We booked as we were aT flamingo land for a tournament however it was a bit to far out back and forth traveling. There is nothing close to visit you would been a car unless your great walkers The house was older world which we loved, was clean but could do with sprucing up walks scuffed. Additionally we don’t have dogs, the house must be normally rented to dog owners and it smelt quite strongly if dogs.

We stayed in the cottage suite and it was absolutely lovely, quaint and clean and a great location with plenty to do nearby. We enjoyed Thornton Dale and Pickering and on our way home visited Filey. It was the little touches that really helped too as they provided soya milk in our room for arrival so I could enjoy a cuppa after our journey (usually when we go away its only cows milk so I cant have one). The food there was lovely too. Ive added a couple of photos of the outside of the cottage as there are non online. Rest assured though it was lovely and a quiet location with a lovely little private garden.

Friendly, traditional country pub, which is extremely dog friendly, in an ideal position for exploring the moors and surrounding area. The pub has a large car park and a pretty beer garden. We were surprised to find we had been upgraded to the cottage on arrival , number 11, and having stayed in it we would definitely pay the extra to stay there again as it is perfect if you plan to stay for longer than a night with a dog as it has its own garden and it is separate from the pub.

Very comfortable room - warm and with a lovely bed and bedding. The pub was cosy and the staff were very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was amazing and the pub food was ok.

The lovely bedroom was completely let down by the bathroom - definitely needs an upgrade and a better shower. Dogs seemed to be allowed to sit on the seats in the pub which I think is unacceptable. I don’t think they’re allowed in the restaurant which is good.

The location was picturesque in a small village. The room was lovely and spacious. Everything you required with plenty of tea, coffee and milk plus added bonus of biscuits. Was a lovely quiet location, so a great nights sleep. The pub was full of history and also do their own brewery tours at a reasonable cost, although we didn't have time to do this. We ate in the pub at night, food was tasty and cooked to perfection, a good menu with not too many choices. Breakfast was lovely local produce too.

Oldie worldly type of place. Nice

Two things which weren’t really major problems:- I’m only 4ft 11inches tall and the mirror in the bathroom was far too high for me to look at it, resorting to me having to go into the bedroom to do hair. As stated not major but needs thinking about. Also,shower over bath, again not major but needs thinking about. Shower head was at its highest point, even if I’d wanted a shower I couldn’t have had one because basically I wasn’t tall enough to reach, even standing on tip toe. Could the shower head go on the lowest setting so it could be raised by anyone.

Comfortable bed, clean room. WC separate room from shower (useful for couples). Looks like recent refurbishment. Had enjoyable snack in the evening (beef in Yorkshire pudding - very traditional). Too many chips.

Two 13 amp double sockets. NO USB PORTS IN SOCKET PROVISION. My phone running low to (1) do calls (2) make notes (3) use Wi-Fi. USB sockets are CHEAP at around £9-12 each. Why isn't there at least one. No reading light over bed. Reading/working difficult in bed. Cannot turn main light off when in bed. Have to get up in the dark. Hatch in ceiling gives access to electrics. Why not fit pull-switch over bed?
