Convenient location for getting about and beautifully situated. Nicely decorated and superb views. Exceptionally friendly and helpful staff. Very good breakfast and generous dishes in the Brasserie. Very kind to our dog and parking worked well. It had all the best qualities and atmosphere of a very good hotel in a market town, which we liked very much.

No electric sockets near the bed, surely a modern necessity for charging devices. The bathroom clean and functional but a loose hot tap on washbasin delivered water too hot to allow in contact with the skin and the shower over the bath was rather basic.

Elegant big room, absolutely quiet, a shower instead of a bathtub as requested, rich breakfast, attentive staff. Everything exceptionally clean, space to accomodate luggage at the entrance hall of the room, nice big wardrobe, refrigerator! I especially enjoyed the library of the hotel and took advantage of the patio in front of my window; in hot Jyly days, as those were, this was a real extention of your room. Ideal location of the Hotel by the Thames and specifically for the Hampton Court Garden Festival, which I was visiting. I would really love to return to the Mitre Hotel.

Not this a problem for everybody: the safe is placed at a very high position for me to reach. The reception lady kindly offered the possibility of using the hotel´s safe, but I would have liked to have access at any moment. Not an issue.

We have stayed at the hotel on a number of occasions so knew what to expect. We arrived early and were planning on going for a wander down by the river and around Hampton Court but the weather was awful, very cold and grey. The staff were brilliant and apologise profusely, it wasn't their fault our room wasn't ready as you normally couldn't check in until 4pm, we were there for lunch. We went and got some lunch then came back and sat outside people watching, they gave us a complimentary glass of wine whilst we were sitting there. The rooms are lovely, and we got an upgrade to a suite, amazing! We will use again I am sure.

The stairs, there were a lot of stairs as even the ground floor has different levels where you have to go up and down a step or two.. It is an old building so we would have to expect such things.

We booked a family room because it was the only room with more than one bed. It turned out to be a suite with a king size bed in the main room and a small bedroom with a bunk bed. The latter opened up on a patio outside with a table and two chairs. The rooms were quiet, spotlessly clean, and the beds were comfortable. The location was fantastic, literally steps away from the entrance to Hampton Court Palace. The building dates from 1665 when it was built to house overflow guests of King Charles II, the Merry Monarch, who must have thrown some really big parties. It is a privilege to stay overnight in such a historic place. It is well worth the price for the experience.

My only complaint is that the bathroom was small, obviously shoehorned into a cramped space dictated by the eccentricities of the ancient building. There was almost nowhere to put your toiletries and the sink was the smallest I have ever seen, not much larger than the keyboard I am using to write this review. We were, however, able to use the facilities without much difficulty.

Stayed two nights the cooked breakfast was excellent but the continental breakfast was very limited and the fresh fruit choice was also limited. The Booking.com site stated there was free parking we were actually charged £7 per night and it was first come first served so I initially had to pay a further £7.50 for public parking until a space became available. Very disappointed as the parking was a major factor in booking. Booking.com needs to update their description as the hotel said it has always charged for parking.

Fantastic location. Very friendly efficient staff, especially Ashleigh on reception. Delicious breakfast, lots of choice, eggs cooked to order, also pancakes, Andrew very helpful and excellent service. Bed very comfortable, lovely room, we stayed in the Tudor, very spacious and surprisingly quiet. Great hairdryer! Only thing missing was a magnifying mirror .

We didn’t fancy the menu for evening meals. But pub next door was fab and lots of choice just across the river for pubs bars and restaurants.

All the staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful from the moment we walked in. Ashley, in particular was a ray of sunshine on the rainy/gusty day we arrived. She answered questions enthusiastically and so warmly greeted us each time we walked back in. I had no idea just how close we were to Hampton Court--literally across the street! Yet we felt we were in a small village, just walking distance to some wonderful shops/restaurants. The breakfast was amazing, & the service great. We had fun such eating our breakfast on the banks of the Thames River, imagining what it must have been like sitting at the same location, centuries ago, watching all the activities of Henry the VIII's court.

At some point there could be a bit sprucing up here or there (but then again, this is the charm of older buildings). Living in an 18th century house, ourselves we loved the quirkiness of imperfect floors that occasionally creaked. Only mentioning this since not everyone appreciates the joy of older homes. However, I could imagine that nearly everyone who comes to this historic area already has an appreciation of history.

The atmosphere, the room features, the river flowing beneath were magical. The room was very clean and spacious, the bed very comfortable. I liked the multiple lamps around the room. I also got a top floor room as per my request, which I appreciated. It is a really nice small guesthouse brimming with its history. Ideal for a few days out of Central London, but still close. The semi-circular breakfast room was particularly enjoyable.

The staff attempted to charge a sort of deposit at check-in without first informing me, which I though was a cheap thing to do....I'm not sure if it is normal practice for these type of establishments in this part of the world to do. Check-out was a very slow process...probably the slowest I've had in years!

Location was great, near the palace, the staff friendly and efficient. Room was clean. Parking a bonus. The resturant was excellent, brilliant service from Chris.

The room was clean but a little shabby eg cupboard knob stuck on with blutac. Breakfast was great if you were a meat eater or vegetarian but no options out for vegans. I had to ask the busy staff for oat milk and that was just basic. So quite limited, you can get better vegan options at the Premier inn so would expect better at the mitre.

The staff were excellent. Very welcoming and attentive to make our stay as good as possible.

The room was very good. We actually got an upgrade. However, the room was very on on arrival and the portable air conditioner did not manage to cool it down. This mad it difficult to sleep on both nights we were there - in August! I don't imagine this would be a problem at other times. I thought the buffet breakfast was is a bit pricey - £20 - even for London.
