The Fleece Inn is well situated in attractive countryside about two miles from the M6. Great stoppping off point when driving North or South. As I have osteoarthritis in my knees, and a small dog, when booking, I asked for a groundfloor room. The Fleece Inn has only one. It is perfect. Spacious with a modern disability friendly bathroom - which sported both a bath and separate shower. The room was attractive and well appointed. It was located very near to the door to the beer garden with a secure grassy area. Just perfect for the little trips outside with my dog. Obviously, being on the ground floor, there is some noise from the bar and lounge areas, but this stopped by 9.30pm. The bed was very comfortable with good quality linen. Dinner in the evening was excellent, as was breakfast. The Fleece Inn suited me and my dog perfectly.

Very very minor points - would have liked a powerpoint nearer the bed. Better lighting in the garden - it was very dark at 11pm.

It was lovely and relaxing, that staff were great. The bed was super comfortable and the room was really pleasant. We loved the bathroom with the walk in shower and large tub! We also loved the wooden beams that featured in the room and bathroom. A huge bonus was the fan that was provided - you’ll be surprised how little amount of places provide these!! It had everything we needed for our night. The breakfast was excellent and overall the stay was fantastic value for money - would definitely recommend and we’ll be staying again!

The only things I can think that would improve it (and it’s definitely not criticism as the room and our stay was great) - couple of towelled robes would be great and plug sockets next to the bed as I could charge my phone or watch next to the bed but wanted me phone close as it was the first night we were leaving our little girl. There was also some plastic covers that had been put over old holes where light fittings were which made the wall look a bit ugly however it didn’t impact the stay at all!

It was full of character: it had been beautifully renovated with high quality woodwork, bathroom fittings etc yet not too much so as to spoil the character. They had also kept good quality antiques alongside the new pieces. Very well done. Staff extremely helpful - we didnt realise the kitchen closed early on Sunday evening and arrived too late for a meal. Notwithstanding, the kitchen produced for us a ploughmans platter and a seafood platter - both of high quality excellent ingredients.

I liked everything

This was our second visit to the Fleece Inn. It's in a great location and makes a great stop for us when we travel up to Scotland. It's close enough to the main road, but is in a quiet location. Rooms are nicely decorated and very clean. Huge bathroom! My husband loved the fish platter the last time we visited, and had it again this time. Staff friendly.

The first time we stayed, it was in a room on the first floor, which was perfect. This time, we were on the ground floor, looking out onto the parking lot, with the chargers for electric cars right outside our bedroom. It was a warm night and the room was hot but we couldn't open the window. Also, I don't often complain about food, but I had a steak that was very disappointing. The rest of my meal was great, though.

Great rustic rooms, really friendly and comfortable place. The staff were really great. The pub was busy when we arrived but one staff member made it clear they saw and would prioritise our check-in. A waiter was really friendly and made our stop-off stay extra special at the start of our honeymoon. Thank you. There's a handy mini-newsagents as part of the shop, good for essentials for the onward journey.

Car park was full when the pub is busy, so we had to figure out where it was possible to park. Otherwise, I think we haf no complaints.

The breakfast was excellent, the service was very good.

The room was very hot and was located directly above the main entrance and the smokers row. The window sash was broken and the window couldn't be opened wide or closed completely. The bathroom was very cramped and had no outside windows It would have been helpful to have known that there were no meals available on a Monday as the there was no alternative venue for miles

Staff were warm and welcoming, and the interior design of the inn was exceptional. We loved the pictures on the wall. The room was very clean and fresh and the bed was very comfortable. The bathroom was spotlessly clean. Dinner was excellent and the staff went the extra mile and very kindly booked a table for us ahead of our arrival. Breakfast was excellent! All in all, a really lovely overnight stay for us to recharge our batteries for our onward journey back home. Thank you!

My wish would have been to have an iron and ironing board in the bedroom.

Loved our overnight stay at The Fleece Inn. Great service, comfortable, clean, well fitted, big, air conditioned room and full bathroom. Good proximity to M6 whilst peacefully quiet. We booked on line very last minute. Within 10mins the receptionist called me to advise they don’t serve food on Monday evenings. I was already aware but grateful she took the time to let me know. The breakfast was amazing!

Nothing. Faultless

Such a lovely place , fab decor , very spacious room and bathroom , don’t to a very high standard . The staff were all super friendly and the breakfast options were fab and cooked food was cooked lovely and well presented .

It was a red hot day and hard to cool the room down , it had air con but we didn’t see the switch till the 2nd day as it was behind a chair but couldn’t work it as it was pre set 🙈, the shower was amazing but could have done with a squeegee for the floor, minor detail !!

Fantastic room very clean and comfortable. We enjoyed an excellent dinner and breakfast, couldn’t fault it. I forgot to pick up my sapphire earrings from the bedside table when we left the following morning and didn’t miss them until the next day. The cleaning staff had found them and they were very kindly posted on to me. I was very grateful to have them back. Wouldn’t hesitate to book the Fleece again.
