While this property is probably 50 years old based on the architecture, Its condition is like new. the walls the trim the doors all painted to perfection. I walked into the bathroom and it looked like no one had ever been in there. it was bright and marble everywhere. And, the cleanliness, the room was spotless. The staff was friendly and very helpful with things to do in the area. My favorite part however was the food. This was the best dinner we had while in Scotland. Outstanding Cuisine. I will stay here again. Thank you Rob!

The Udny Arms Hotel was amazing! The rooms were updated, clean, and comfortable. The bathroom in the room was extremely spacious and taking a shower felt like visiting a spa. Our group of three really appreciated that they offer single rooms with 3 nice beds. We had the most comfortable nights sleep in our crazy busy travel week through the UK while staying here. Everything exceeded expectations! The front desk worker and bartender who checked us into our room was very nice and helpful. He even gave us great ideas on things to see and places to visit in the area and gave us an entire history of Newburgh and Aberdeen-Shire. From free treats made by the local bakery in our room when we arrived to the unplanned adventures prompted by staff recommendations, we all left Udny Arms sincerely wishing we could have stayed more than one night!

Excellent May Bank Holiday Weekend spent staying in this beautifully refurbished hotel. All staff members were welcoming and attentive, but not overbearing. Our room was lovely and spacious with a huge bathroom and lovely fluffy towels (bath sheets, not bath towels, always a positive!) and plentiful Highland Soap Company toiletries. The fresh milk, delicious homemade cookies, and Discovery Maps of the local area were all welcome additions and nice touches in the room. The gin list was good and included several local gins to discover. Food and service at both dinner and breakfast were excellent. We didn't get the chance to try the Cafe Bar or Trellis Coffee Shop this stay. What a great excuse to return! Highly recommend this family run hotel as a great base for exploring the area.

Would have preferred bedside lamps on both sides of the bed, not just one, to provide lighting for independent reading and/or a trip to the bathroom in the middle of the night! #smallthing

We had a lovely stay at the Udny Arms hotel. The room was clean, fresh and very spacious. The beds were very comfortable as well. On arrival some chocolate chip cookies were left in the room for us to enjoy. (Which were amazing) Dinner at the restaurant was great, honestly the tuna tartare was the best I had in a very long time. Breakfast was great as well, there were some juices and cereals available, but next to that it was possible to order something from the breakfast menu, which had a lot of options. The quality was as good as we had at dinner, and it really filled you up for a good portion of the day. Truly a very luxurious breakfast and dinner. The owner was incredibly friendly and gave us quite some history lessons about what we could find in the region, and elsewhere in Scotland. He made us feel very much at home. The seal beach is very easily accessible from the hotel, with only a short walk to the beach.

My husband and I had the most amazing stay at the Udny Hotel this last week! The owners were the most gracious and accommodating hosts, offering amazing local and general Scottish knowledge to help inform our travels. The hotel decor was superb, nothing was missed and so welcoming but serene. Our dinner and the breakfast were amazing, beautiful food, the best we have had in Scotland so far! Finally the rooms were really lovely and comfortable, the bed amazing and lovely bathroom and very spacious. We would encourage anyone travelling up the east coast of Scotland to book a stay. Free insight parking was also a bonus as well as the amazing view!

Udny Arms was positively reviewed by many other travellers, and finding myself needing a room for the night and already in Newburgh, it seemed wise to listen to them, and in fact I was very happy with everything they did for me on a stay for just one night before moving on up the coast next day. Everything was very well done in terms of making a comfortable room, particularly a very restful and comfortable bed, important in any hotel, and the hotel's restaurant did a fine dinner just exactly as one would want at the end of the day. I learned from the manager that one of the puddings on the dessert menu was actually invented there and spread out to the rest of the country later. Be that as it may, I had the temerity to ask for the alternative of Scottish cheese and biscuits, and was very pleased with it. They had some very nice port to have with it! It's to be noted that this meal was in the nouvelle cuisine style. In this instance I had simply spent the previous night in Aberdeen itself and then done some shopping after checking out of the hotel there, arriving in Newburgh at lunchtime and finding something to eat there. Seeing that this hotel was recommended by many made it interesting; and I was impressed on arrival with how well they had refurbished and then reopened the hotel some years ago. It had had a great reputation years ago but then been closed for a few years, as it seems. My knowledge of the mysteries of the Hebridean seaweed that is the basis for the complimentary toiletries is minimal, but this did seem on trying it to be a very nice formula for the hand wash and shampoo, all provided with the very pleasing fixtures and fittings of the room itself. It is hard to see how anybody could be anything less than well impressed!

People will have to decide if Newburgh as such is the best place for their touring base in the area, although the beach is interesting for the seals who notably gather there at a certain point in the year. However, they cannot be commanded to appear to order, and at other times, such as during my visit, they were not there! This could be a source of concern to the people interested in them. But this is a minor matter so far as I would be concerned as clearly this is still a very well protected environment for natural events, and not required to perform for me on chance arrival!

A really warm welcome, spacious clean cosy room. Nice linen & towels. Chef was fab, we had pub food, brekkie & a sunday lunch. All very delucious. Lovely location to mooch through the village & to use as a base for exploring further a field. We will definitely be back.

There was a green safety light on the ceiling in the room. Im sure it was tiny & insignificant for others & i have a sleep mask for such things

This is a beautifully renovated property. Lovely public rooms. Excellent , well appointed bedroom. Comfortable super-king bed and fabulous shower. Quality toiletries and nice touch of freshly baked cookies available. . We had both Dinner and breakfast and both were exceptional. Kirsty our host for our stay was charming and very personable. We will be back.

The fresh clean rooms, the thoughtful little homemade cookies in the room and the little doggie biscuits. The staff were exceptional, so very friendly and helpful. The food was delicious, breakfast set you up for the whole day and dinner was beautiful. We would highly recommend and we will be back.
