Meldrum House Hotel is one of our favourite bolthole and "go to" place in Scotland - the staff, food and drinks, atmosphere and all round location makes this a cracking place to relax and enjoy. On this occasion, my good lady was treating me (birthday celebration) to a couple of nights - stay got off to the best possible start as we were given a room upgrade to the "Turrets Suite" - absolutely fabulous. In addition to a large and spacious room, it had 3 turrets, one of which in the bathroom had been made into an incredible shower. As a malt whisky lover, cracking touch of complimentary Glen Garioch, in addition to a "happy birthday" slate with chocolates. Bed was super comfortable, bathroom, complete with underfloor heating great size plus room had views over the "domes" and golf course. Had the "dome dining" experience - these are brilliant, food superb and always makes for an extra special experience. Very special thank you to our waitress, Katherine who looked after us perfectly - if staying here, definitely book one of the domes as regardless of weather, it's a great way to enjoy a celebration. During our stay, we also spent time in the 1236 Cave Bar - cracking selection of whiskies, had afternoon tea celebrating Wimbledon - called "Game, Set and Scone - very tasty then enjoyed relaxing in the larger dome containing a well stocked bar with a bottle of wine !! Breakfast consists of a delicious and varied choice, all of which was again excellent. Further special mentions to Rachael and Eve on Reception - having such friendly, positive and smiling staff definitely sets the tone, indeed, all the staff are very well presented, super helpful and polite - how refreshing !! Thoroughly recommend a stay here, one night is never enough, have already recommended the Hotel to friends and we will be back........

Nothing.

Very nice location and the view from the corner room 1 is beautiful. The room is very spacious, wonderful and has a large bathroom. Excellent staff, they are very friendly and helpful. The Wi-Fi is available and the breakfast is excellent. Very good car parking

Small things but can be noticed by some guests: The furniture needs to be cleaned I think especially the fabrics. The shower place is tight and not very practical. The bathroom is large but the mirror shelf can hardly fit the toothbrushes and the tooth paste of two guests but nothing else. An additional shelf or a small side table can be very helpful. The towel rack was very hot and we didn’t know how to control its temperature. Small things but don’t degrade the total beauty of this amazing hotel.

I liked the room, spacious and clean Nice bathroom, always happy to see a bath. Being a golf club the grounds were well maintained and nicely laid out.

The dinner menu was a bit limited, I chose venison sausages and these seemed manufactured and not the best, Service was very slow, being a lone diner it can feel uncomfortable sitting and waiting for long periods. I also had to ask a second member of staff for mustard to go with my main as the first one disappeared. Breakfast had a much better selection, but again there was a long wait for the food to arrive. This might not have been an issue if it was a leisure trip but as it was work it was a bit frustrating.

Although it is an old building, the facilities are modern. We were upgraded on arrival & had the benefit of a room overlooking the fabulous golf course. We were attending a wedding at another venue - and didn’t get to use all the facilities at MG - but we will return another time. My husband is disabled - but facilities were all available at ground level - including bedrooms - and although there was a step into the Cave Bar - it was easy to overcome (although a grip rail there might be advantageous) Lovely peaceful location - great staff - perfect.

We loved the location, just a beautiful setting and grounds. The Turrets Suite was lovely, plenty of room and massive shower within one of the Turrets. The food we had was lovely, had a meal in the cave bar and thoroughly enjoyed it and breakfast was lovely too. It's beautiful outside and although we didn't make use of the outdoor bar within the dome it looks amazing and a very chilled relaxing looking space to enjoy (especially on a sunny day).

Only thing to point out would be, for the amount that you pay for the Turret Suite, it could benefit of a freshen up in the decor department. Signs of leaks on the walls etc and lots if scuff marks on the wall just inside the room. But realise this Suite is within the existing old part of the building so much harder to maintain etc. Also for the price of the Suite we assumed breakfast was included but was an extra.

Beautiful accommodation. Lots of atmosphere. Lovely bar area - The Cave. Tried Sweet Cheeks (deep fried Mars bar). Very tasty, but not as good as Sticky Toffee Pudding, which we tried elsewhere. Our appetizers were excellent (scallops & caesar salad). Best caesar salad I've ever tasted!

Nice room but not the one shown on our reservation. I sent a message to Meldrum House via booking.com but never received a response. The room was a bit tight as there was quite a bit of furniture. No freezer in the mini fridge. Had to order ice through the front desk.

Excellent breakfast menu. Lovely to be served instead of hot buffet. Restaurant has beautiful views out to garden/golf course. We had evening meal in lounge one night and the Pineapple restaurant the next. Both superb meals and service.

My lovely chicken dish didn't come with potatoes, so I had to choode from sides. However, the only side was fries. The meal would have been nicer with dauphenoise or fondant potatoes. I was expecting venison or duck ln menu, as it was 4 star. A bigger choice would have been perfect.

We had a fantastic stay. The staff were friendly and welcoming in all parts of the hotel we visited (reception, the bar, and the domes). We stayed in one of the stable rooms and I couldn't recommend it enough. Spacious and comfortable; perfect for a relaxing evening. The bathroom was modern and very well equipped: a massive room with underfloor heating, a big bath, a walk-in waterfall shower, and heated towel racks. The food was lovely and the cocktails were exceptional. We particularly enjoyed having our brunch in the dome.

The rooms were a bit on the warm side during the night.

Every single member of staff, from reception to maintainance were outstanding, they make the beautiful location more memorable because of their excellence in customer service. I've never stayed in a Hotel were every member of staff exceeded my expectations. The company should be very proud of the team they have.

My expanding waist line as the meals were so amazing, must have the chocolate fondant.

Hotel has the potential to be stunning. Nice location, estate and great golf course. The restaurant food was great and the cave bar cosy. Staff were professional and friendly.

The accomodation was dated. Furniture not in keeping. Heating couldn't be controlled. Heated floors in bathroom nice idea but as heating wasn't controlled it was literally like a sauna. Beds were uncomfortable and pillows felt very old and flat. Small windows could only be opened a little and didn't help much to cool the room. Booked the stables as these were the only rooms with "twin beds" but they were also the rooms where pets were allowed and both my daughter and I have pet allergies. With the heat of the room and the inevitable pet hair remnants from previous guests, the allergies were bad. The water temperature in shower could not be turned to cold. It was near to scolding.
