Lovely hotel and facilities. Festive.

The hotel tried to charge us again. Had to show them thst booking.com had taken payment. They didnt believe this initially. Could have done without this.

Staff were excellent. Room was clean, comfortable and the mattress really good. Food was great. Gym was good, Sauna nice and hot. Nice touch with the biscuits and pretzels in the room. Location outstanding and hotel itself beautiful. Price was great value for money. Shower pressure really good and a fan in the room really helpful.

The room was very warm - a bit too warm. A couple of hooks are needed in the male showers in the changing rooms. Changing room lockers need repaired although the staff at the Spa were helpful in looking after your valuables.

Thainstone house is a very charming hotel with a lot of character and quirks. As someone who prefers to stay in countryside hotels as opposed to city centre ones, this is a great choice. It’s only 15-20 minutes out of Aberdeen and the surrounding views are very nice as well. The staff are incredibly helpful and hard working, I’d like to give a special thanks to David the manager who really went above and beyond to take care of my needs, and felt like I was being taken care of by a friend. Noah the night porter was also incredibly helpful and had a lot of fun late night chats with him after finishing up at the hotels quirky bar and Ellie the receptionist was also very helpful and had some great local area recommendations to check out. The restaurant was also very good, the chunky chips were some of the best I’ve had and overall the food was of high quality and very tasty. I look forward to the next stay here.

This is probably one of the easiest 5 star reviews I have given!! On arrival the hotel just looked great driving up the road towards it. The location is stunning. We arrived slightly early however the receptionist could not have been nicer. She put our bags behind reception (as room was not ready yet) and welcomed us to use the dining facilities and bar. The food was delicious, served promptly and well worth the money. I had requested a room with bath and the hotel accommodated. Our room was on an upper level and staff offered to take bags up as the lift as not working, The room itself was cozy, the bed was comfortable and we were given complimentary biscuits, pretzels and tea/coffee. The pool/sauna etc were easily accessible, you are given robes and slippers to use which was great. In the evening, we used the dining room and I say the food was exceptional, but this does not even cover it. The dining staff were amazing and went out of their way to facilitate requests and just chat to use making us feel comfortable and welcomed. The bar is a quiet area but there is also the option of room service. In the morning went down for breakfast and If i can recommend it - order the Eggs Benedict (the poached eggs were amazing). On check out, it was easy enough to settle up the outstanding bill and again the staff were lovely.

Nothing, I only have good thing to stay.

We attended the hotel for a wedding which they did beautifully. The food was very good and the staff were very helpful and friendly. The hotel has a lovely reception area with great photos around the minstrel gallery. Our room was very comfortable and stylish with antique furniture. We enjoyed using the spa. It is a pleasant change not to be charged for items to eat and drink in the room.

The hotel is beautiful but a little tired and they could add to the ambience with more planting on the large grassed area in front of the hotel. The hotel could even consider putting a tennis court or croquet pitch on this large open area. The staff worked very hard but they do need more support when holding weddings and a bit more training. Workmen should not be allowed to work on the site before 9am.

the hotel was beautiful, stunning from the outside and really lovely and traditional on the inside, a bargain for the price. The staff were all very friendly and helpful. The breakfast was fantastic, large portions and lots of options which was amazing.

the rooms were very hot, even with our heating off and windows open so that was a bit intense for our dog. I also thought the main bedroom lighting wasnt good and if that was changed could really elevate the atmosphere of the rooms. Supper was yummy but quite expensive compared to everything else.

It has an ambience, history and grandeur. Staff were superb. Nothing was too much trouble, they made us feel at home. Estate was gorgeous in the spring sunshine. Doggie bags for our pooches were also a nice touch. Yes, some areas could do with a make-over but the upkeep of such an old house must be an ongoing task, nothing that a quick fix will solve. Don’t make this stop you from visiting because it’s still an excellent hotel and well worth a visit!

Reduce the dog charges and more will come. Wonderful location, a must to enjoy with your furry friends!

The "old world" charm of Thainstone House gives it a relaxing historic feel and with the addition of the spa and amenities lifts it into a modern welcoming visit ...staff are very friendly and polite ..go the extra mile to ensure your stay is relaxing and stress free ...food is lovely with good portions ..rooms are clean warm comfortable with everything you need for your stay ...the grounds are well kept and the hotel itself is a lovely building ...all in all we had a great weekend for our 50th wedding anniversary

Only on a personal level could do with new snooker cues for the game room 😄...could nit pic but nothing else was worth a mention

We really enjoyed breakfast, the house and grounds were interesting and well kept. The breakfast room is particularly lovely. I loved that we could bring our dog and arrangements were easy as to where he could be with us in the hotel. I loved the details of the named bedrooms. I am sure we will be back to stay again.

Minor point but there could have been more tea and milk available in our room. There was only enough for 1 drink when we arrived and not enough for the 4 of us staying in the room.
